  1. I have the Racing Ralphs in TLR. Took a while for the one to seal, but apart from that all is perfect. Love them. Hope the Rocket Rons can do the same for me. Which would you put up front, Ralph or Ron? Muddy or sandy races obviously both Ron and hardpack rides perhaps Ralphs on both?
  2. Thanks to your tread, just bought 4 off Rocket Ron EVO TLR 29x2.25 for R250 ea. Thanks bud.
  3. Good luck to all participants! Hope our boys can do it again and the bad luck take a break (last year it took a brake) this year.
  4. Mannie Heymans???!!!!
  5. Last year, the meat sponsor was Karan Beef. Their products are Halaal. As for the preparation of the food, it is done by parents and teachers from the schools that benefit from the race. Excuse my ignorance, but can someone please explain to me what the requirements for Halaal is?
  6. I see coming up with ideas here trying to solve the problem rather than just to complain about it gets you flamed on this tread, but flame away; here is another. Heavily fine littering perpetrators in the reserve. Sell the idea to the parksboard by means of job creation. Place a (or 2 on weekends) "littering policemen" with a pair of strong binoculars and stealth and catch the bastards. Arrest them. Make them pay. We as concerned cyclists can show our support by sponsoring the binoculars and the fines may cover the salary (if it is as bad as mentioned). I am thinking R2000 fine. O, and raise a R10 entry fee per bike. That should cover the salary too.
  7. That centre pick looks like a Blue Bull supporter bike.
  8. Hmmmm. Would you feel better if they did the whole race on a tandem?
  9. I did a 48hr adventure race this weekend in the Nothern Cape. Temps reached 30deg by 8:30 in the mornings, peaked at around 40deg and dropped to 30deg again only at around 7pm. At least the humidity was low. The first day I really battled, but the second day I felt much better. I think you must get used to the heat. As simple as that.
  10. Nope. He did the marathon, but started in A batch, not with the SS. He did a 4:14 in his leopard suit and Elvis sideburns. Only saw him at the start of the 1st climb and then never again. That leopard can ride a bike.
  11. Hi Tim, looks great. Where can we find our seedings for the event?
  12. If your main aim is not ultra light, aggressive racing geometry, the best do-it-all bike out there is the Tallboy. It is also propably the most durable carbon frame around. It is not made to be the lightest, it is made to be the toughest (and stiff).
  13. Looking forward to see parts of the day3 of Joberg2c as well as the parts of day2 we saw last year. I agree it won't be nearly as muddy as last year. Hope we get a mielie in the goody bag (or at least some popcorn). Respect for doing the 90k on a SS!
  14. Not if you have a look on this (usually very accurate) site. Oh well, at least it does not look too bad, but looks like we will be riding in the rain again. Always fun! http://www.yr.no/place/South_Africa/Free_State/Reitz~962847/
  15. A big group from Heidelberg will be there again this year. Looking forward to the new route, and hopefully slightly dryer weather. Time for the flu to bugger off already!
  16. Would also be nice to see the Isuzu 3 Towers compared too, although day 3 is quite short. Think it will top the value/km ranking though. Good work Janneman72.
  17. The Geax Barro Mountain would be my choise for the front, but it is not available in 29". Suguaro is a great choise, but check rim compatability first and please do not use on American Classic rims. You will bend the rims, break a number of levers, cry and spend 20min to remove it if need be. Serious.
  18. As a cyclist, nothing gets my blood boiling like an inconsiderate cyclist. :cursing: . Tired of hearing "YOU cyclist, this and that" from family and friend. I think we may be preaching to the converted on this forum though.
  19. Always the same and always amusing: The OP rants, most people make up their minds and takes the OP's side, then the implicated party respond and the OP becomes the baddy, then the OP replies and becomes the poor victim again, the implicated opens up a bit more,....the issue is resolved and the monster cookies becomes Tennis biscuits with Koffiehuis.
  20. +1. Was thinking the same thing. I am convinced one of these guys can take it, but my money will be on JR
  21. And the follow on question...is it recommended for long endurance races or only short high intensity efforts?
  22. So you don't see the hidden red lion in your avatar?
  23. Thanks Tim. Must say I don't think I am the only one that will be a touch relieved. Have not been to Sabie for a while and can't wait!
  24. Never!
  25. I agree the total ascents looks dodgy. It seems clear the ultra follows the marathon and then 1/2 marathon routes. The 1/2 marathon shows 1502m ascent alone, yet the difference between the marathon and ultra is only 871m. I verrrry strongly doubt the marathon will come even close to 2600m. Tim?
