  1. Agreed but then they are the first in the row of advisors on their products. I am not contesting that, what I am contesting is that the person who read my email did not care a jack's @ss on what my real needs was. He did not even advise me as a foreign visitor where the product could be obtained...... same as you..... you did not even read my posting that started this debate!!!!!!!!
  2. Pottiemond!!!!!!!! Kinners lees die Wielnaaf!!!!!!!
  3. Squirt Road and MTB can be higly recommended. You must however keep your chain clean at all times, no matter what lube you use. i wash mine with a clamshell type cleaner (Made by BBB) at least evry two weeks with road use and more with dirty or wet road or MTB conditions.
  4. That is an unsolicited attack on something that has nothing to do with the matter at hand.
  5. Do the right thing and get them permatubes. You will spend the rest of your living days to repair their punctures. Dont worry about the weight they enjoy the bikes too much...... grrrr cannot wait for my grandchildren!!!!!!!!
  6. Jawohl Herr Swiss..... and vee only vant to heer unn cliccck!!!!!!
  7. Nope, kempekknoglia invented it and Shimano perfected it!!!!!!! Teeee heeeee!!!!!!!!!
  8. I think I can be rated as a staunch Shimano supporter. I contacted Coolheat regarding their Ultimate Support Pro ELite Bicycle Repair Stand. I clearly asked wether the stand will be rigourous enough for handling Tandems as their advertisement says, I clearly asked what the price would be as well as other things. The reply I got said I must contact my closest LBS. What a stupid and non committal reply. Are they not the people who sell and distribute the stuff, are they not obliged to promote and to get prospective clients to buy the stuff. I do not have a friendly LBS anymore. I will not have the time to shop around etc. This is not the first time that I have received this cold shoulder approach from Coolheat. I seriously wonder wether they are really equipped to sell and distribute a world leading product such as Shimano. I wonder if the only thing they are worried about is the munny they make and do not care a damn about the sport itself. I did send a email reply to them asking why they did not adress my query but so far they have ignored me. I for one are now even more firmly committed to import all the Shimano equipment and thingies I need from overseas at much cheaper prices and NOT go through the local agents.
  9. Oiltrash are you in Nigeria????? PM me and I will scan the instructions as per one of the bicycle mags a month or two ago and mail it to you. I can also send you the Barnes Manual in PDF.
  10. Dom, dom, dom, Moksman..... maklik, jy moes net die Oom gevra het!!!!!!! Hendrik Petoors2007-08-08 08:33:30
  11. With the WT CC cartel now "controlling" the databases of the timing scenario it becomes imperative that CSA takes control over and create a National Cyclists Database. Very nice rethoric but this will come at a price. CSA WIL NOT do this for nothing. To allow this to happen and to allow this to happen efficiently we will ALL have to take out our Licenses. That will most likely be the way CSA will fund a totally new database. Opposition to this will crumble when Piet from Sandton has to start unseeded from the back of the race instead of starting with his testosterone ridden Veteran buddies. He will very soon pay the puny amount just to race with them again!!!!!!! Tee heee Carinus..... the new National Data Base you are prparing must allow for alternative methods of timing. Standards for this timing must also be created. We cannot allow two companies to dominate the scene with the exclusive use of their timing equipment. Smaller clubs in remote placed MUST be given the opportunity to use alternative means of timing in a simplified but regulated manner that will be cost effective for them.Hendrik Petoors2007-08-08 04:40:27
  12. Look at the Raleigh range...... verrry good value for money. www.raleigh.co.za
  13. Kewl.... would even look good on a real bicycle!!!!!!!!
  14. There is a cassete wear indicator available made by Rohloff. I have never seen one locally but I assume it can be a handy tool to have. http://www.branfordbike.com/images/tools/chain/tl4613.jpg
  15. ?????????????????cassette or chain????????
  16. You are dead right..... with oncoming old age and Altzheimers Lite I became slightly confused. We were the first group of Matrics to write a metric matric in 1971. Our Metalwork Technical Drawing paper was in Metric units. My first project (Sybrand van Niekerk, R59 - Kliprivier to Alberante) was an Imperial project in 1975. That was also the last Imperial I did. Everything after that was metric...... thank goodness for that!!!!!!!
  17. Willehond why would you say this...... Mtb and Road uses the same chains. All bicycle chain links are 1" in length, wether it is Shimano, SRAM, ConneX Wipperman, KMC, kempekkernoglia, Taya or YBN chain. Only the chain width differs for different groupsets (6,7,8, 9 or 10 speed)
  18. What about using SUPER VISION that is after you dressed in a phone booth!!!!!!! My dear mr Bornman ...... "Daan Desimaal" came to our country in 1961. Nobody may sell Imperial measuring equipment any more. If you have one it can be described as true "Aficana". I said in my attempt to make things easier for our metricised youth these conversions "MAY" help. If they can make sense out of it let them use it by all means. I am lucky I have a steel straight edge that is Imperial. I can measure it this way and use my Park tool for quick measurements. I am also well versed in the usage of vernier calipers as well as micrometers. I do agree that trying to live Imerial in a metric world is difficult. We experience that in Soil Mechanics all the time with our TMH tests. You can also read in my post .... if you did read it properly, that I said it may damage your chainring. I am fully aware that chainring wear different to a driven gear. I studied this in Mechanics II. To end this discussion. If you measure 306 mm to determine the 50th percentile wear you may as well replace the chain...... what the hell the 0,3875 mm will not really make a difference in anybodys so called "perfect" cycling worldHendrik Petoors2007-08-06 11:57:39
  19. REPAIR STAND SERIES TRS-80R Pro Truing Station http://www.ussbike.com/s.nl/it.A/id.1317/.f?sc=21&category=60#accessories Lefty, Ultimate also has this on their website..... where can I get one of these???????? I have always been a favourite of the one armed truing stations as it gives you space to work and access the wheel.
  20. The following usefull conversions may apply:- 12" = 12.0" = 304,8mm - new chain, out of the box 12 1/16" = 12,0625" = 306,3875mm - replace chain 12 1/8" = 12,125" = 307,975 mm - replace chain, cassette and maybe chainrings as well!!!!!!!!
  21. Is dit 'n singlespeed of is dit 'n Rohloff 7 spoed??????

  23. Nomad kom uit die son uit asseblief!!!!!!! Koel jou voorhoof af en se vir mense waar jy is.
  24. I talked to some experts and the technology is out ther. Dirt cheap and available. I will get name and forward it later on. Works very much the same as the barcode aluminium disk you get on expensive items that they cancel with the large magnet. I will report back later.
  25. wonduhboy, all the manufacturers in the examples I posted except the last guy are represented in South Africa. I just used the website to obtain the examples.
