  1. Next question... My youngster just started playing mini cricket. We dug out his brother's pl cricket bat and decided to throw some love and attention it's way. It is G&M Icon 100 and supposedly a non oil cricket bat. It was in a sorry state after 10 odd years of school cricket and garden cricket (Pretty sure it was left outside on more than one occasion as well...) I took off all the stickers and proceeded to give it a good scrape to get any glue and stuff off. I then gave it a good going over with the orbital and finished it off with some 600 water paper (used it dry. It was all I have available) to give it a nice smooth finish. Now the question is.... What do I put on it to protect it? When I was at school, Linseed oil was the way to go. However I recently stumbled across a product called Plascosafe Furniture Lacquer. It is a clear coating that dries to a satin finish. Was thinking of using that...
  2. Morning. Q&A time.... I have had this piece of timber in my possession for the last 20 years. It belonged to my wife's grandfather and it has a bit of sentimental value. I have an idea what I am going to do with it but would value some input. First though, I have no idea what wood it is I have asked a few people and they have no idea... This is what it looks like The grain The bark Now the intended use... It has a natural curve to it and It is probably about 50mm thick. I am in the process of recycling some Hibay lights to be used in my dining room and I need something to hang them from. I was thinking of squaring this plank off (Trimming the edges to make it rectangular) and hanging the lights from it with longish cables. All wiring will be hidden inside. The current decor doesn't really lend itself to the natural rustic look or curve of the wood. (TBH I don't want that look in the dining room) Alternatively, leave it as is and use it outside on the patio for the same purpose. I can find another piece of timber for the dining room...
  3. If anybody has a Rockshox Boxxer 20mm Maxle to fit a 2008 BOXXER WC fork I would be most grateful. Willing to pay in Smarties or beer. Cash is also an option I managed to strip the threads on mine.....
  4. I thought the same way... Now we watch series every night. Why? Because it is available on demand. We don't have to fit into the DSTV schedule. ITV4 show most of the cycling. As well as a host of other sports on BBC. You will be spoiled for choice. To satisfy your mind, find someone close to you and go and have a look at their setup. I am pretty sure there is a streaming hubber near you that won't mind a cold beer/coke while they show you what is available.
  5. I had a landline, a cheap 1Mb line and DSTV. I disconnected my DSTV a few years ago. With that money, I upgraded my ADSL line and bought more internet. I haven't looked back. My landline rental (with the free weekend and afterhours option), 10Mbs ADSL line and a 100Gb Soft Cap (All with Telkom) runs me R720 a month. I usually buy another 100Gb depending on the usage for an additional R269. I bought an Android TV box (About R700 once off) and loaded Kodi, RedbullTV and UKTVNow. With those systems running, there is virtually nothing that you can't watch (local derby sports like Currie Cup are not available from what I have been able to find anyway) So for under R1k/month I get to watch what I want, when I want. The choices are endless. I will never go back.
  6. Hey Slowbee, How'd that table turn out?
  7. I have two words.... F*%k DSTV They will never see any of my money again.
  8. Strange... no problem with the UK geo locations. Might just be an issue with US Netflix.
  9. Getflix...........[emoji41]
  10. A slacker set of angles on a frame doesn't automatically come with a bag of skillz. That steep head angle is capable of riding techy stuff (Within reason) People need to learn skillz to ride the tech stuff. Joe average is probably going to see his arse on a 70 deg HA and on a 68 deg HA if he is trying to emulate Nino... What they need is flat pedals, wider bars and a shorter stem. Historically SA has been a predominantly XC/Marathon market (Have a look at the availability of gravity orientated accessories available online and at your LBS although it is starting to change). That is who they are targeting and effectively maintaining that 80/20 ratio.
  11. This is not aimed at anybody in particular but the "haters" that are commenting are not Titan's target market. The percentage of Joe average, Mid pack, Single Track walking, 40km classic/Marathon riders vs the boutique bike riding #BroDoYouEvenEnduro gurus is probably around 80/20 (And even at that it's probably a bit optimistic) IMHO it's a well priced bike that fills a gap. That target market just happens to make up the vast majority of your average weekend race. Not saying that 80% of the field will be riding Titan's by the end of 2016, rather that people on a budget now have another affordable option and TBH it's not a bad option at that price point.
  12. Is that the 372 Epidermix? That stuff is strong!
  13. Chopping the seat is a bit extreme IMO. Just looks wrong. I would rather lose the pillion seat for a tail tidy.
  14. Really enjoy Chicago Fire. Also have a look at Chicago PD. Hank Voight gets under your skin in Fire but you'll get a different perspective of him in PD.
  15. A bit like Pallet and Pipe furniture.....
  16. Coaching Indaba..... Pffft. This oke needs other coaches to help point out his short comings because he can't see them through his rose tinted shades. He's supposed to be the cream of the crop coaching our National side FFS...... Edit: the rest of the coaches should be coming to HIM for advice!
  17. Alister's collection of silver platters is growing nicely....
  18. Not as far as I know. Wouldn't mind seeing it if there is...
  19. Beware the depths of that rabbit hole Myles.....
  20. And apparently it was at a press launch as well......[emoji33]
  21. And that is how you make your name gat...
  22. I remember a guy at school that somehow converted his 50 to an 80/85cc or fitted an 80/85cc into an RZ (I think.... It was a long time ago...). I just remember it was fast.... I rode my mates son's KX65 a few years ago..... Hory Shet that thing was fast! It tried too throw me off twice. I said How do these kids ride these things? He reckoned that lack of traction was a big part!
  23. Thanks for the reminder... My trial ended a while ago and I needed to sort out the subscription . Sorted now
  24. Gives new meaning to the term "Barn Find"..... At least you got what you needed though
