  1. I tried again this weekend and somehow was able to register/connect. Watched a bit of the Vuelta on Sunday so it has it's uses. Eventually found a browser that was compatible with the box but nothing that will let you load apks yet. There is enough to watch without Mobdro for now. New Kodi 18 won't find my external HDD connected to my router though...
  2. Shift work is for policemen and prostitutes.
  3. My Ematic box arrived a few days ago. It was quite easy to set up and was able to get into the OS with minimal fuss. Took a while to update everything but once that was done I could start to fiddle. Turns out having a Google Certified device that runs on the Android TV OS has it's issues... Google Chrome Browser for one is not compatible with the device.... I can't seem to log into DSTVNow for some reason. I get a code that pops up but I have no browser to type the URL into. I tried entering the code into the browser on my phone but each time I open the DSTV app on the TV I get a new code to enter... APK Installer also not compatible either. (Wanted to side load Chrome and Mobdro) I am sure I can google a fix but anybody here had similar issues?
  4. Mate of mine roasted in his oven with reasonable success as well
  5. I have heard that you get good results with one of those pop corn makers that blows hot air.
  6. Sprocket leak is usually the o-ring. You need to know that the maintenance has been done on the LC4. Water pump, carb, cam bearings etc. There is a lot if info on Adv Rider. Search for LC4 640. I have a 2003. Enough power to haul my 100kg frame around. Don't expect 160kph on the highway. Not the most comfortable for long road trips. Very capable off road though. There are spares available both from dealers and online. Spares might be slightly more expensive than a Japanese bike but shop around. You'll be surprised... A service kit for mine is cheaper form KTM than from Startline Personally I would look from 2003 and up. According to the guys in the know, the problems had been sorted by then.
  7. Log onto your Netflix account and change the streaming settings. We set ours down to Standard and use about 1/3 of the data (700Mb per series episode vs 2Gb) and it looks fine.
  8. If your TV has the ability to tune onto the broadcast channels then you need a license unfortunately regardless of whether you watch the channels or not. One way around it is to but a large monitor with no receiver and connect a device to that. Good luck cancelling your TV license though if you already have one....
  9. That's a bike shop job....
  10. Shame, maths obviously wasn't somebody's strongest subject...
  11. I just checked my package again. We were on a Premium Uncapped 10/5 @R867/month. I saw that Afrihost now have a Pure Fibre 40/20 @ R917/month. Guess what I did....
  12. I was suitably surprised. It cost me R128 for 5lt a while back. At that price I use it for cleaning a lot of stuff.
  13. No problem. Just checked our usage now. We've used 250Gb from 1st - 12th and we were away for the long weekend.
  14. 2 adults, 1 teenager and a 10 year old go through between 800Gb to 1Tb a month. We don't have DSTV or watch SABC. All or viewing and music is streamed from various sources (mainly Netflix, Youtube, Mobdro and RedbullTV. What we can't stream we will download) with both my sons gaming on a PC and a console respectively. We all have smart devices connected to Wi-Fi and my wife does a bit of work in the evenings. Our setup uses a lot of data but seems to mimic a lot of other people's usage. We used to get by on 200Gb which was eventually increased to 400Gb and then Home Uncapped and now Premium Uncapped. You make do with what you have got. Eventually as your lifestyle adapts to the content available you will use more but that depends on your requirements. Start small and increase as needed. 250Gb should be OK as a start though. Just make sure you understand the fair usage policy and what the different packages offer. You generally get what you pay for.
  15. They have a soft cap so when you get to your fair usage limit, they throttle your line speed. I am with Afrihost Premium uncapped and have not yet been throttled. (No fair usage limit) however on Home Uncapped I think you get throttled form 250Gb. Just read the fine print and ask the questions [emoji1303]
  16. My preference is the box. Samsung for example do not offer some apps that I use like Kodi or RedbullTV. We use the Netflix app on the TV but only because the current box doesn't support it.
  17. There is a lot of useful info on this thread and I have learnt a lot from some very knowledgeable people that have posted on here. It really is worth the time and effort to read through and try and process the info that is available.
  18. I would recommend that you try and get one that is Google certified (There are a few). Something else to consider is how you will be connecting it to your router (Wifi or Ethernet cable) and how many USB ports for flash drives and external hard drives (and the max capacity that they can handle). Then you can go off at a tangent with Bluetooth for keyboards and mice, the ability to cast to it etc. My older box isn't Google certified (it is a few years old now and at the time, that wasn't an issue) and you end up having to find a workaround to get things to work. (See side loading comment above). If you are a techie, it's not really and issue but if not, then the plug and play aspect of a Google certified device would make life easier.
  19. Yes. Plug in the HDMI cable. switch it on and you are away. Load your favourite apps from the Playstore or side load unofficial apps using an APK installer (Just another term for unofficial apps that aren't available from the Playstore. You download an apk file and load it through an apk installer). You can log in with your Gmail account and access the same apps as on your phone. All our devices are connected to one TV but Dad pays the internet account so what he says goes and he has control of the router from the app on his phone....
  20. In a nutshell, yes. These media boxes turn your std TV into a smart TV. Instead of the apps being loaded onto your TV, they are loaded onto the box which is connected to your TV. Simplified, if it has an Android OS, then it will work like an android smart phone that you can't make calls on.
  21. Only once you strip a thread in an expensive component do you realise the value in a torque wrench. Remember where you put things and keep the relevant things together. Use cups/trays/bags. You don't realise how useful a magnetic dish is until you have one. If you aren't sure or it's your first time, take pictures. Lots of pictures. If it is small and there is a chance that it can fall and get lost amongst all the crap on the floor, it will. Keep your work area tidy. ALL the time. Use the right tool for the job. Mind your fingers....
  22. Just ordered mine. Looking forward to testing it. There are some good reviews over on MBB
  23. My Android Box is still giving me issues. It keeps freezing and I have reloaded the OS quite a few times now. I think the time has come to retire it and get a new one. I have been looking at a few and have made the decision to get a Google Certified device as this seems like the logical step to avoid any issues going forward. We currently have issues with apps not being available or won't work because our current device is not Google Certified. Has anybody had any experience with the Ematic 4K Ultra HD Device? http://ematic.co.za/wp-content/uploads/2019/06/Image_Features1.jpg I have it queued up on Loot (Discovery will subsidize a portion )
  24. Picked up a Gater manual grinder and an Aeropress from a mate the other day for half the price of a new Aeropress. Only used a few times. Too much work for him. He prefers his bean to cup. Lid was cracked but I glued it.
  25. We did some nasty things to our corporal while he was sleeping. Then he did some nasty stuff to us while we were sleeping.... I remember using starch, shoe brushes, an iron, pegs, my teeth and my hands to make a bed. Now I just use my hands.
