  1. Just to clarify.... when you use the Moka pot, do you keep full heat right up until the brew stops coming out the spout? What sort of extraction time are you aiming for?
  2. For the usual urban type or marked road navigation I use Google Maps. If we plot a route through the bush using way points marked on Google Earth and create a GPX track, then I use OsmAnd. I have found it isn't the most user friendly app but one of the few that you can upload a GPX file to. Will check out maps.me
  3. Have a look at an Aeropress as well. I have both and I use my Aeropress a lot more than the Moka. Every now and again I pull the Moka out and brew a mug but that just reminds me why I use the Aeropress. I use an Able standard stainless steel filter instead of the paper filters. It brews a nice flavourful full bodied cup of coffee.
  4. Aah OK. GoPro to the rescue! I cobbled a mount together with some old fittings I had lying around to mount my phone (also an S7). I stuck my mount to the back of a phone case so I could still remove the phone and use it. (I originally had the GoPro mount attached to the phone but it was getting caught on my pants pocket) lasted a few months and then a plastic arm broke. Luckily in my driveway... I was looking at the RAM mounts as an alternative. Will need to revisit the idea. I am using Google maps, GPX Viewer and OsmAnd.
  5. Yeah, I have certain frequencies band that I can't hear. I've had it so long (more than 25 years now) it's almost like it's normal.... Now I just need to protect what's left
  6. Some pics as promised: 1. They come in a nice padded zip up case 2. Contents include the earplugs, a cleaning cloth and a plastic pick. The cord clips to your jacket/shirt so you don't lose them if they come out of fall in the dirt 3. The removable filters. These are 26dB industrial units but they come in 19, 24, or 26dB variants. I haven't tried the others but after a commute, my ears don't ring any more than normal (Tinnitus is a b!tch...) I still need to test them with my Sena and see what the quality is like. Busy charging right now.
  7. Enjoyed the post Are you using your phone as a GPS and what phone mount is that?
  8. They were arranged through work. The company that did them was called Noise Clippers or something like that. They came and did in ear moulds and sent that off to JHB. Our company was supplying us with the std acrylic ones with fixed filters (were about R570). I opted to "upgrade" to the 2G Combo and had to pay in about R600. Reason for the upgrade was the 2G were made from silicone which could be more comfortable on longer rides and you can change filters to cut more or less noise. There is also an option for headphone type inserts to fit in place of the filters but they are pricey. When they arrived they were packed in a Variphone case. I'll post a pick tomorrow.
  9. I have just had a.set of Noise Clippers made. They are the 2G Combo. Silicone plugs with interchangeable filters. I use them at work and in a factory environment you can have a conversation without shouting. My hearing is already bad and I don't want it getting any worse. You can't really put a price on something you can't buy back after you lose it.
  10. Started Orphan Black this week
  11. My gate uses the Centurion G-Speak module so I can remotely open and close with my phone and chat to whoever is at the gate from anywhere that has cell reception. Outside light are switched with day/night switches and I can't really think of anything else that I would need automated. Only thing that I would really like is an indication of the gate status when I am not home (Open or closed) I have s status LED for when am home as we can't see the gate from the house. House alarm is run off an app which is quite handy.
  12. Been looking at it for a while. Sonoff have a host of controllers for not a lot of money if you are looking to turn things on and off remotely. More of a novelty than anything else for me. I found this article interesting as well. Compares different types of protocols (not sure if that is the right term...) Apparently can be used with Google Home or Amazon Alexa.
  13. Great news! Really glad that worked!
  14. I hope so... I see Cape Union Mart aren't on the list this month. I have R500 Cape Union Mart voucher banked waiting to get another 500 points so that I can get another R500 voucher (I want a pair of Salamons to go with my puffy jacket and my Fenix... )
  15. I don't have the device so not sure what is installed etc, but if you have access to the Play Store you should be able to install the Chrome App. That should let you browse
  16. Cool! How many Usb ports?

It's fine. As long as somebody else pays for the engine rebuilds
  18. Currently on my watch list. Trailer looked very good
  19. I am keen to watch Hobbs and Shaw. Been following The Rock on IG and he has been punting it a lot. Looks good from What I have seen.
  20. Yes thanks for the link. I know about Lug to Lug and they will be my vendor of choice if I can't find a local supplier. Just wanted to be able to hold the strap next to the watch to see what it will look like. I have a Casio Edifice Chrono with a stainless bracelet that I want to dress down with a NATO. Just not sure what color yet. Any suggestions? Was thinking black or black with an orange stripe. Edit: This one
  21. Does anybody know where I can buy a NATO strap in the Durban area?
  22. Similar to Banggood, Aliexpress etc by the look of it. If so then it doesn't include duties, vat etc. From my experience, it is a crapshoot in term of duties, vat, delivery. Many of my orders from China were delivered without any charges being added. I see it shows free delivery which means that you are at the mercy of the SAPO....
  23. Found Blacklist S05 last night on Netfilx so we are sorted for at least a week or two
  24. Aah OK. I stopped using Kodi and the streaming side of it because it was hard work to stay on top of. Now I use it as a media player only.
  25. I am no progeammer/coder but if you follow the steps it really is easy. Not sure what you need, but this is what I did: Obviously start with a Pi and an SD card (I used an 8Gb) Download SD Card Formatter and format the card. One of the Pi forums gives you the format. Download NOOBS and unzip it to a folder Copy the contents of that folder onto the SD card Plug in the Pi with ykur SD card installed and choose the operating system you want to install (it gives you the option of Raspbian or LibreELEC) I installed LibreELEC as all I wanted was Kodi. It boots straight into Kodi. Set up add-ons and paths to media drives and you are done. Everything that you need to do has been done already so just Google what you are looking for and some kind soul has more than likely written a step by step tutorial for it. Good luck!
