  1. Probably the Cape Union Mart Voucher because it's never available... I reckon the new points system is a huge win both in terms of having more variety as a "winner" and in terms of buy in from users. I think most people were getting a bit tired of smoothies and coffees....
  2. A question regarding the flu vaccine: Clicks sells a flu vaccine on it's own for R70. If you buy it and administer the jab yourself, do you still get the 1000 vitality points or does it need to be done by your GP?
  3. I see a guy with a MT07 every morning and afternoon going in the opposite direction to work. He has an aftermarket pipe fitted. Damn that thing sounds nice!
  4. Probably the case. I have one R500 Cape Union voucher banked and was hoping for a second. Will need to start checking daily...
  5. I finally reach my 500 point target on Wednesday and went to collect my Cape Union Mart voucher and it's gone.... I hope that some of my points don't expire before it becomes available again! I heard that there are limited vouchers available for certain rewards. Anybody have any idea what the renewing philosophy/cycle is?
  6. Lineage in Hillcrest and Westville (KZN) make a good cup. Cafe Mayfair in Hillcrest for coffee and food. Service is always top notch. Steampunk Coffee in the Midlands is worth a drive We have had two very meh experiences at Terbodores so they have slipped down my list Blue Bird Roastery in Westville if you are looking for beans (Available at Hattons Kwikspar but there is a Bluebird Online store) Bean Green opposite Woolies in Bulwer Road seem to be a bit hit and miss in terms of roasting quality unfortunately...
  7. That and the fact that every time you rode it there was a very good chance it would try and kill you....
  8. Looks like he bailed. https://www.facebook.com/vanzweelism/
  9. We are only 3 episodes in but so far so good
  10. Stumbled across The Last Kingdom yesterday afternoon.
  11. Might need to be a powered hub depending on what you want to connect
  12. I was "caught" by the fair usage policy soft cap (I say "caught" because I didn't research it properly. I just saw UNCAPPED) Some ISPs enforce it more than others. This time around I went in eyes wide open so that there were no surprises. So far so good. It will be advertised a Google Certified device. There are a few available. Just don't expect to pay Chinese prices for them.
  13. Gaming headsets.... My son was using a Turtle Beach Recon 200 up until a few weeks ago. LHS stopped working. Took it back and got a refund so now we are looking at replacements. What are you guys using? I am looking for the following: At least 5.1 surround Mic that flips out the way (Also mutes when you flip it) Not convinced by the Steel Series type mic that slips into the headset Robust enough to not be destroyed by a 10 year old Doesn't need to be charged If most need charging then we'll just replace with another Turtle Beach headset.
  14. A few things I have learnt over the years: If you are on your own or just you and the wife, 2Mb line will work if you both watch the same things in std definition. We have 4 people in our home, one of whom is a gaming teenager and one is a 10 year old who has just found the gem that is Youtube so the scenario is the little guy watching Fortnite videos in the study, my teenage son streaming Netflix in his room/gaming/Youtube/downloading etc and mom and dad watching Netflix in the lounge with three devices connected to Wifi. There is also a LAN connection with Wifi in my cottage for my mom. We have JUST enough to go around on a 10Mb fibre line (20Mb would be better) Uncapped is not always uncapped.... (There are soft caps on most Home Uncapped packages and they usually kick in at around 250-300Gb) We are on a Premium uncapped package with Afrihost and normally tear through about 1Tb a month with relative ease. A wireless keyboard with track pad makes life a lot easier (It is a horses for courses scenario though. I love it, but my wife hates it) Searching for something on Netflix or Youtube with a remote is a real PITA... If you are going to use apps like Netflix/DSTV Now or any other "official" apps, get a Google certified device. Getting the apps working on other devices is hit and miss. Chromecast is cool but I don't like the fact that your viewing pleasure is "tethered" to your phone Try where possible to have your setup connected via LAN cable (Wifi never really worked for me. There was audio/video lag while streaming. I have had zero issues with a cable) Don't underestimate the convenience of multiple USB ports on the device you buy There are others but we have probably gotten so used to them that they blend into day to day life. This whole streaming thing started out as an experiment for me that turned into the goto source of entertainment. With Netflix, Youtube, Mobdro, and RedbullTV you should have most of your viewing pleasure covered except for local sport but then you can sort that out at the local pub or one of your mates places with DSTV. Almost everything is available online nowadays.
  15. I spent some time tinkering this weekend.... Thanks to Youtube, I managed to reload the firmware on my MXQPro. My TV box is back up and running again! Total cost was a R40 USB male to male cable and an hour or so of searching, watching and downloading software. As an aside, the certified by Google question that was asked a few pages back relates to what apps will run on your device. I loaded the DSTV Now app and skollied my mates login details. App loads fine, you can log in without hassles and see everything that is available to watch but as soon as you try to stream, you get an error that related back to the fact that your device is not Google Certified and as far as I am aware, there is no way to fudge that. It is burnt into a chip somewhere.
  16. Gitannes, Gaulioses and Lexington were my weapons of choice. I bought a pack of these once.... only once. Almost burnt a hole in the back of my throat!
  17. Dammit, that's the fastest I've scrolled through a thread in a looooong time. My wife and I aren't ones to watch and wait a week so we generally wait until all the episodes have been aired and then binge watch. Been dodging GOT spoilers for the last few weeks. Can't wait until all is said and one so we can get on with our session. At least it's only a few episodes and not 22 like some series!
  18. Sorry to hear ICM. Condolences.
  19. Ok I am on the right track then. I heat the pot first with boiled water then fill to just below the relief valve. I use a camping gas stove with the flame turned up until the brew starts coming out and then turn it down to about half. Once the top portion is about 2/3 full, I switch the heat off and wait until it is finished and then pour. You can control brew time by the amount of heat you use. Should you still be aiming for around 25sec? I remember leaving the lid open and not watching it while it brewed. The results were spectacular but the clean up process afterwards was a nightmare! I didn't realise that spout could spray that far!!
  20. Just to clarify.... when you use the Moka pot, do you keep full heat right up until the brew stops coming out the spout? What sort of extraction time are you aiming for?
  21. For the usual urban type or marked road navigation I use Google Maps. If we plot a route through the bush using way points marked on Google Earth and create a GPX track, then I use OsmAnd. I have found it isn't the most user friendly app but one of the few that you can upload a GPX file to. Will check out maps.me
  22. Have a look at an Aeropress as well. I have both and I use my Aeropress a lot more than the Moka. Every now and again I pull the Moka out and brew a mug but that just reminds me why I use the Aeropress. I use an Able standard stainless steel filter instead of the paper filters. It brews a nice flavourful full bodied cup of coffee.
