  1. Go for it, much better experience than 94.7. Both are great fun, doesnt matter what level your at.
  2. with a hand pump it is harder. if the tire is not sitting too loose on the rim, you may get it to work by massaging the tire whilst pumping one handed, not easy. otherwise try a bomb if its 26" if you have one. high pressure blast usually works to get the tire to seat before all air escapes. If its a 29" dont bother with a bomb, you dont get enough of a blast. With my loose fitting 29" schwalbe's i eventually did a 10pm nip off to the engen on the corner and massaged the tire whilst inflating with their high pressure compressor. took a while but finally worked. free too haha. (small compressor sometimes works sometimes doesnt - 29" tires can be a pain.)
  3. also happens if the battery is starting to wear out. change it.

    2012 94.7

94.7 is quite a tough race, especially if the wnd comes up on the N14, 30kms to go. its 97km. its not all smooth going, lots of glass about, and easy to puncture. thin air, well you may go slightly faster but you also have less oxygen to breath.
  5. You mean QBOTU
  6. she wants to go for a ride...
  7. something bigger than a dingleberry that hangs from a rim hair.
  8. The SC is awesome. much better than the 9er
  9. Might not be stolen. Why not offer him R500 with a story that you have been looking for that exact bike for years. Then at least you have the thing and can return it to its rightful owner if he turns up for your R500 back. If you dont ever find the owner, and the local cops have nothing reported missing, then you have a bike to sell (probably get more than R500) If its not stolen he will know its value and tell you to pi$$ off.
  10. Jack Sprat would eat no fat, his wife would eat no lean...
  11. Lol, No Flats is Joe's, one and the same. The Joes rubber strip conversion is easier to use than the Stans tape conversion
  12. er, yessss, last week wednesday there were about 6 guys there at 7am; any hubbers planning a pre-work spin tomorrow?
  13. HD? battery life? accessories? fully waterproof housing?
  14. Dangle's fastest one just has one gear...
  15. JHB's best kept secret...
  16. If you have a garmin, then its quite easy. Use the time alerts to give you a reminder to take a swig every 15mins or so.
  17. anyone going tomorrow?
  18. Get yourself checked out. Could be fatigue related. Make sure you are getting enough sleep. also, plan your training properly, by building up your fitness over a period of time and not jumping into really hard sessions for which you are not adequately conditioned for. puts a lot of strain on your system. edit: as said above, dehydration could also be a factor. you should be taking in at least 750ml per hour, (more if its really hot) I often suffered 'silent' migranes in the past where my left eye would black out totally for 10-20 mins and then slowly recover. This was especially whilst a student and doing long projects late at night, days on end. Nowadays, enough sleep = problem solved, (after scans and med checks revealed nothing wrong.)
  19. I'm lost...
  20. no idea until i ride it. from the route map it (110km) almost looks like the reverse of the Ride4sight, or am i reading it incorrectly
  21. Nope, I think you are correct to pull over when it is safe for you to do so. Sometimes there is little choice but the faster rider will have to wait a little bit. It puts you under pressure, but its no good injuring yourself or ruining your bike because somebody is blowing in your ear. I had a similar situation on the fast single tracks at Karkloof this year. Tiring and 3 hotshots right on my tail, i got out of their way when there was a suitably open spot, caught my breath, and hit the trail again. no real fuss.
  22. Agreed, a nice clear 'Passing Left' or "Passing Right" has always worked for me, even for guys riding slowly 2 abreast on quadbike track. Communicate and you are fine, guys lever look back to see if they are blocking you on MTB. Technically, ipods/mp3's are outlawed in MTB race rules, pity some still chose to use them.
  23. most punctures I have seen in a race since Honda Mountain Trophy.
