  1. Let's try keep optimistic here - the cops have been handed this case on a silver platter. But - assuming things do go pear-shaped, then this is where Carte Blanche could come in handy. Nothing like a bit of publicity to highlight an inept police force and get the attention of some of the top ranking cops.
  2. Great news! Well done to all involved Let's hope the justice system does it's bit and we can get to the source of this problem.
  3. That's a moerse negative stem angle!!!
  4. In that case, pass that shop name over to the Carte Blanche investigative team. That'll give them a very good starting point for their investigation. Should be easy enough to trace serial numbers of bikes stolen in SA and match to the bikes in that shop.
  5. There's a specialized bg fit sit bone chart on the net that equates your sit bones to the correct saddle for you. Don't have it on me now, but google it. Let me know if you don't come right and I can send it tomorrow morning.
  6. +1 for specialized. A common problem is that the Gobi is only available in 130mm width. For any oke with wider sit bones, it's going to pressure in all the wrong places! I went for a fitting on the weekend and according to that assometer thingy I'm between a 143 and 155 saddle width. I currently ride a Spez Avatar 143, but apparently the 155 could be a better fit. Pity cos I was really keen to give that Gobi a bash after reading all the rave reviews!
  7. The truth of the matter is that the SAPF are swamped. We can't rely on them solely to resolve this issue, although as Eiger pointed out, you could make decent progress by using the CPF forums and by regularly chasing up with the investigating officers. In my opinion, the approach taken by Giba is the only realistic solution. A PI can do all the investigative work and provide the findings and culprits to the police who can then wrap up the case and prosecute. Let's face it - a PI is motivated to find the criminals asap to get their fee for the least amount of work and they'll have contacts within the SAPS to get assistance where needs be.
  8. What this does do is provide a start for an investigation. Track the current 'owner' down. Ask him where he got it. Go to that person and blah blah blah.... Been watching this thread and the common undertone is that EVERYONE is tired of the bike jackings, those who have been victims and those that have not. Hopefully one of the media guys approached investigates this further, but if not, should we not try raise funds on the hub to pay for a PI to investigate this further? I'm not in the area the jackings are happening, but I'll be happy to contribute if it means it makes the sport safer (and hopefully one day someone will return the favour if the same happens in my local haunts).
  9. Now THAT is an awesome wheelset!! Hurry up already!!
  10. Looks like Patrick became a victim of his own success Hopefully his handover has been carefully thought out and it doesn't leave the brand in a bad situation. Interested to see what 'consultancy' ventures he'll be going in to. Would it be consulting back to Morewood in a design capacity / will he be venturing into other brands?
  11. Same for me. Got an Esquire USB dongle thingy and works great.
  12. Cool pics - looking forward to seeing the final product!
  13. How much does this bike weigh that you're looking to trim some more fat?!? Is this the first known-case of bike anorexia?? Seriously though - sweet bike man. Forget bout the potential 200g and rest assured that your dual suspension is lighter than most of the hardtails out there!
  14. Thought we were voting on beer??
  15. That works for the first few spam SMS's, but when you start getting 2 / 3 a day it really starts getting to you. And don't forget to throw in 1 / 2 cold-calls trying to sell you something.
  16. Call them up and tell them you'll report them to WASPA if they don't stop sending them to you. Actually, just report them to WASPA. http://mybroadband.co.za/news/cellular/20372-Report-SMS-spam-asks-WASPA.html
  17. Hansa for the win!
  18. LOL! Love that!! Thanks for sharing
  19. Gerald's hosting the show these days.
  20. Anybody else finding SC a lot more interesting these days? I'm loving the smaller inserts with tech tips, bike park reviews and even some buying advice for the ladies. Seems like they're getting a good mix of all things cycling now. Would be great to see a few more product / gear reviews and a little less track cycling
  21. Saw the show last night. Good work bikeparks team. That was a pretty decent summary of Giba! Looking forward to seeing more inserts on Super Cycling.
  22. Interesting... So how does the recovery work? Do you have to pay a monthly fee ala Tracker / do you only pay once activation required?
  23. I also reckon it's a good idea, but it is far too big and noticeable. It'd be fantastic if there was something you could somehow stick to the inside of the seat tube. Just thinking out loud here
  24. Eish. Sorry to hear that. Anyone got a direct line to someone at Tread? Wasn't Sean B on here at one stage? Maybe drop them a line and point them to the 2 / 3 threads that have popper up over the past few months regarding delivery problems.
  25. Got my first issue last month. To the guys not receiving any issues in 2011, this may be a stupid question, but have you checked your subscription with Tread? I can see our talented post-office people losing 1 / 2 here and there, but for them to get it wrong every month seems a bit much.
