I'm generally an even-tempered sort of guy but today I nearly lost it. Was on my way back from varsity (in the car) when about 4 or 5 cars ahead of me a guy takes a tumble quite hard in the middle of the road. He gets up and I can see his all bloody and woozie and stumbles towards his bike to get it out of the road. Just as he reaches it, the robot turns green and people start driving around him, hooting and shouting. From 4 - 5 cars away I could see this guy isn't doing so well so when all the cars in front of me passed I pull over and help him get his bike and gear, littered over the road, out of the way. On closer inspection I see that he's actually quite old (to a 24 year old), I would say late 50's maybe 60's and he's REALLY not doing so well. So I take him to the side of the road, have him take a seat and fetch him some water from my car all the while he's mumbling something incoherent, knees and hands shaking. I asked him if I could give him a lift home but he said he lived 2 blocks away so I told him I'll drive after him just to make sure he gets there ok. Halfway there, he stops saying that he's too dizzy to keep riding, so we load his bike in the car and I take him home. Still, in the car he's mumbling all the time so I'm thinking serious concussion. When we reached his house his wife told me that he used to be a physics prof at the university untill about 6 years ago when he lost 50% of his brain function in a car accident. Now he works at a nearby library, putting away the returned books. What really bothered me is that nobody even stopped, they could see that he's kinda old and that something is seriously wrong but everybody just hooted and shouted. That pissed me off. Just needed to get that off my chest.
