  1. Have you managed to build yours yet?
  2. Same as on regular rafters, just make sure that you mount it through the ceiling and into the rafters.
  3. All over, some at Mica, some at Screwman, some at builders. I actually used a bunch of other stuff to build my own pulleys (works like a charm btw). The ready-made pulleys are way too expensive.
  4. No worries, I also tried the carabiners and found that the friction is too much. Makes for VERY heavy hoisting. Let me know how it goes though!
  5. How's that going btw, haven't seen pics lately?
  6. I've managed to build it for under R100 (R93.95) and it hoists easily, my 6 year old niece did it. It's measured on my bike (L) but tested it with the Silverback (S) because it's much heavier. Chubba, you can have this one for free, I'm not going to use it. And then I'll build you two more for R150 each. I need new brakes!! Then you still end up paying R300 for three, oh and shipping. What do you think? Anybody else want one?
  7. Note the OR in between the pics?
  8. 30k, first FS to bear the Zaskar name
  9. Thanks Slowbee, will give you a shout when/if plan B fails!
  10. Was the OP, I'm not even gonna use it I have my car bike rack mounted against the wall (when its not on my car), also keeps both bikes out the way. I just like building stuff
  11. Crazy, I went to four different stores (both big and small) and the cheapest one I could find was R38 for a single. And as I'm trying to build it for under R100 thats too much.
  12. recently?
  13. where?
  14. I built one for under R100 using the original design but with very cheap pulleys, it works but don't think your missus will be able to hoist it. Unless she's very strong.
  15. I'll second that
  16. Also not very cheap
  17. Turns out the pulleys are a bit more expensive than I thought and I couldn't find any suitable hooks for under R60 a piece (went to 4 different stores). Maybe you guys have more luck with the pulleys at the coast, I don't know of any sailing stores in PTA. But I've figured out a way to build it for under R100. I'll build and test it tonight and then post pictures.
  18. Now. . . if you add one electric motor you can hoist your bike remotely . . .
  19. I totally agree, that would work. The more pulleys you add however (though more costly) the easier it is to hoist. Not knowing Chubba or his missus, raising the bike to the ceiling and then tying the rope to the bike itself might be a bit high. Might just be me, I'm a shorty. But your right, yours would be cheaper.
  20. The rope end at point A just goes back to the pulley attached to the ceiling (closest to A). . . if I'm understanding Cpt correctly
  21. That'll work
  22. You can even make a spool (afr katrol?) so that you can raise and lower the bike by turning the lever
  23. Point A you can attach to an eyelid, at point B place one of those fittings that you can wind the rope around. No need to tie it.
