  2. Just bought myself a new membership to the bikehub. Can this go on this thread?
  3. Yeah, I am the same. The amount of friendships I have formed on this site over the years is worth way more. Plus, good work deserves to be rewarded.
  4. wow. That story is hardcore. People are gross.
  5. I enjoy cleaning immensely. Something quite satisfying in the immediate results and it makes me feel like I accomplished something.
  6. Hi Ed. The simplest answer is to not iron at all. Im not kidding. We do our normal laundry in the front loader, then tumble dry it, we make sure we fold the laundry as soon as it comes out the drier. With professional work clothes (especially dress shirts) I wash them separately in their own load at the end of the week and then hang them wet on a hanger. They dry straight. If there are a few small creases, they tend to sort themselves out after wearing the shirt for an hour against a warm body anyway. Most of the KIWI mates we have do the same thing. It also pays to change they type of clothes you buy over time. I now also consider the fabric type when I buy clothes. For other cleaning, clean as you go. We have a 5 bedroom 3 level house that we can give a proper clean in 1 hour. We do this once a week. I cannot believe how reliant on a domestic worker we were in South Africa. Now we do all of our housework, gardening and laundry ourselves and have no issues with it. As far as I can tell, the only drawback is that with tumble drying, my T-shirts dont last very long. Maybe 2 years.
  7. So, the New Balance are now relegated to walking shoes. These are on the way from Brooklyn NY
  8. any suggestions for a nice weekend away this weekend? Driveable from AKL.
  9. sounds like all my other hobbies. 1. Looks really easy 2. Is actually really difficult 3. A black hole for money [emoji23]
  10. Resin pouring is something I am desperate to play with. Looks like fun.
  11. I think I have lived here for too long. I look at that and think " Man, that's awesome. But I don't want to have to clean it every week" HA HA HA
  12. I reckon that is going to be one of the hardest hit regions.
  13. first run not too good. Lots of hotspots and they felt pretty heavy. I miss my nikes.
  14. Thanks folks. Getting Nike’s in Nz is a challenge at the moment. There are two options. Go to a Nike store, these are generally operated by casual workers at school and the level of running specific advice is terrible as they are not experienced. Or online from Nike head office. This can take 3-4 weeks with shipping delays. We are very far away and our borders are closed so not a lot of flights to carry freight. Yesterday I went to a running speciality store and tried on a whole heap of different shoes while chatting to the owner. After about 9 different pairs, I settled on the New Balance 1080v10. The store has a 30 day return policy so if it’s horrible I can return them. Will do a 15 km break in run today to test them out.
  15. Hi folks. I need a shoe recommendation please. My two favourite shoes are the Nike Vaporfly 4% and the Nike Zoomfly flyknit. The Vaporfly's were bought first but the soles perished quite quickly so I bought the Zoomfly as they had a slightly tougher sole. Both of these shoes are discontinued and the replacements are really difficult to find. Can anyone offer me some good advice on an alternative pair of shoes?
  16. I am embarrassed to admit I actually don’t know. [emoji4]
  17. I have university exams around the corner. A little different this time around in that they are "Online Time Constrained Assesments" Same thing as an exam, but I can use my textbook. So will probably be focussing on that. Maybe a cheeky restaurant meal and a nice long run (by my standards) Thats about it. Busy booking some domestic travel for the break between semsters.
  18. Yeah, will probably rent for another year to strike when the iron is hottest.
  19. Is it though? The conversations I had over the weekend with a few mates and my in laws says otherwise (granted, small sample set of people hence why I am asking you the genuine question) Not trolling you at all - I am genuinely interested. I have a lot of people back in SA I care very deeply for and am worried. The Covid stats for SA dont look encouraging at all. The blatant racism and racial tensions seem to be escalating and my thoughts are that the vast majority of the population cant/wont socially distance to allow the virus spread to slow to a manageable rate. I tried to keep up with the covid thread, but that's near impossible.
  20. We are heading down south at the middle of June to go look at houses. CHC is the favourite, but The lakes region is also a strong contender.
  21. Well said Dude. Also, hindsight is 20/20. Easy for me to sit back at the end of this and argue what was right and wrong, but much harder to make those calls in the beginning. Anyway, back to the original point of this thread...where are you going on holiday when this is all stable?
