  1. WARNING - POLITICAL POST! So, Judith Collins is now the leader of National. I voted National last time round, but have become increasingly doubtful that I would do the same. Its a little difficult for me. There is not one single party that jumps out at me, there are parties where I align with some of their policies but not all. I am finding it difficult to pick a clear winner that I feel "deserves" my vote. I like parts of what labour does, but not all. I like David Seymour's view, but not everything. I definitely won't vote for Winnie. What are everyones thoughts? @Intern - I know you are a David Seymour fan - Care to elaborate? My mom used to always tell me to not discuss politics, sex, money or religion with friends, but those are all the interesting topics so hopefully this doesn't get out of hand...
  2. There is your loophole and excuse. You wont be BUYING them. Also, my wife tells me that calories that you eat that are free (I didn't pay for the goods) or that you steal from another person's plate (helping yourself to chips) don't make fat.
  3. So sorry to hear and I hope for a speedy recovery with no lagging issues. I "liked" your post simply because you dedicated more words to your broken shifter than your broken vertebrae. This means you get to keep your "man card" and are in fact upgraded to the Nick Offerman version.
  4. Watch - more versatile. use this doodab to put it on the bar and read it that way.
  5. It depends on what the business does. This is quite a subjective opinion, but if I am paying for a service or goods from a company and they are not a registered entity with a proper website and email address (no gmail) I get quite nervous. If the owner is not prepared to invest in his/her business, how can I be sure that they are taking things seriously? These things are not expensive to do and they take a few hours a month to manage so the investment is not that onerous. But like I said in the beginning - its my opinion and based on my risk tolerance.
  6. Many years ago I started a side hustle and it grew to the point that I had to make a choice between full time employment and taking the side hustle to another level. I chose to back myself and turned it into a good little business that ran for ten years right up until we immigrated. Was fortunate enough to employ quite a few people and create jobs and live a really good life for a while. It was super stressful but ina good "challenge yourself" kind of way. Good Luck ABrooks...keep us posted on your journey.
  7. This was the biggest reason for me moving to NZ. So my kids can live an independent life and enjoy themselves.
  8. Excellent points. There is a legacy effect for SAFFAS to want good schools. I admit I have a huge amount of bias and judgement here (for which I am not proud) but to me a lower decile rating means a "poorer" community and this reflects more on the standard and type of the community rather than the schooling effectiveness. I want my kids to grow up in an area that they have some degree of cultural and economic similarity to those around them. I don't want them to be "wealthy" kids in a poor area or poor kids in a wealthy school. I am trying to find something that matches their socio economic status. I realise I am part of the problem and not part of the solution and like I said, am not proud of this viewpoint as it smells "elitist" but it is what it is....
  9. I am back from my look see decide on CHC. Here are my thoughts... Cons: 1. Schools 2. It looks basic and not very visually appealing (I mean the central city) 3. A lot of construction going on and a lot of stuff not operational Pros: 1. Its cheap to buy houses. Like really cheap 2. It has access to amazing places for touring/adventure 3. Traffic is a lot more palatable than AKL In summary, I don't think we will move. The biggest issue for us is the kids schooling. It seems pretty difficult to find a clear and good decile 9 or 10 path for both primary and high school in the neighbourhoods that we like. I feel that moving there would be more trouble than its worth. If the kids where out the house then totally different story. Neighbourhoods I really liked were, Redcliffs, Wigram and some parts of Hellswell. I even found a gorgeous house for $60 more a week than my AKL house in Patches old neighbourhood of Bengal Drive, but again the schools are an issue. I don't want my kids going to a single sex or religious based school and that limits my choices somewhat. Also, given the uncertainty in the property market (there is going to be a fallout soon post covid) I question whether buying is a good move right now. AKOROA is stunning and well worth the trip.
  10. I already have the same Sony’s. The challenge with them is the microphone is not noise cancelling. The earphones are and they are amazing!!!
  11. I have been struggling to find a work headset. I share a home office with my wife, and sometimes we are on the same MS Teams meeting (we work for the same company) The challenge I have is when I speak, I can hear myself in my headset as aural feedback, but i get a slightly delayed second audio stream through my wife's microphone. It is quite disconcerting and throws me off. I have been looking into Noise Cancelling Call centre headsets with a noice cancelling microphone. Anyone have any advice?
  12. I sell two MYOB products and have monthly catch ups with the entire partner network. Doubt this is public knowledge at this point. Actually, If i am honest, I am still in the webinar but the next bits are pretty boring.
  13. Not arguing, but have an interesting piece of data that I have just come across. I am sitting in a sales webinar with MYOB at the moment (this will make sense to you as you sort of know what i do for a living) and MYOB have been running some telemetry on invoices raised by all of their clients in the SME and Large enterprise space and in NZ they are seeing invoicing QTY and Values as being back to normal figures. Naturally, just raising an invoice does not mean that it will be paid. But the stat is pretty interesting.
  14. doing the huts. We are doing it the other way round.
  15. I managed to secure a spot on the Abel Tasman Great Walk for December.... Most of the good slots sold out in 6 minutes. That bodes well for domestic tourism.
  16. Oh My GOLLY Gosh... A man that employs a few people with 16 years of development in building and bringing a community together is trying to pay his bills by ASKING some of those people to voluntarily donate/invest some money in growing the idea for the good of EVERYONE (even those that choose to not pay)? What the hell was he thinking??!?!?!? There is a special pit in hell for people like that!!!!/s I say let the 18 year old take him on and see how far he gets.
  17. Anyone done the Otago Rail Trail before? Thinking of doing this little tour with the family. https://www.shebikeshebikes.co.nz/deluxe-brochures/railtrail/Shebikeshebikes-Deluxe-Clyde-5Day-4Night-2018-19.pdf
  18. Exceptions will be made for Rouxtjie 1'000 posters. So basically, sock shame them after one year or 1,000 posts, whcihcever comes first.
  19. have been hearing good things about hunua (from Dawieo) and totara park. These are South though.
  20. to all the people complaining. I like to pay for the things that add value to my life. Bikehub adds a lot of value for me. Its social without being facebook, encourages me to exercise, connects me to likeminded people and gives me a place to vent and destress. R350 a year to SUPPORT and ENCOURAGE a business that gives me all of that - cheap. I also love that Admin's philosophy is not to take things away from the free users, its to add extra functionality for a price. So to all of you complaining, stop it. NOTHING has been taken away from you. Buying in is a choice.
  21. we use a high end breville at home. The breville oracle. It is amazing. I have been through plenty coffee machines. This one wins every time.
  22. just send me an email about your uncle that was a prince and his millions you want to share and the Nigerian government will post your citizenship papers straight away. Ginger or not.
  23. https://www.techtimes.com/articles/248969/20200418/husband-tracker.htm This also looks promising.
