  1. Today I learned a new word. opprobrium - harsh criticism or censure. "the critical opprobrium generated by his films"
  2. It really is a shame we cannot extend our bubble to just one other family if it is mutual.
  3. My opinion is that they will extend level 4 to the end of Anzac. Was reading an opinion piece this morning in the herald (that was probably my first mistake) from a scientist, that suggested staying in level 4 for another 2 weeks would pretty much eliminate the virus completely. I dont know if business could handle that. I guess they will switch from level 4 to 3 after Anzac and then sit at level 3 for 14 days before reassessing. Either way, I am glad I still have a job and no change to my income, but if the lockdown increases, that situation will likely change.
  4. I was invited to be a panelist on a webinar series broadcast in AU and my MRS took a picture of me sitting at the table in a dress shirt and shorts.
  5. Ups and downs.. Downs: Feeling caged inMiss TravellingMiss being able to just run to the store to pick up random things and bake or cookMiss my mates and talking nonsenseWorried about job securityWorking longer hours than I did before to try and protect job and help keep the company in the best possible positionUniversity has stopped, so cant even keep the brain working on that as a distractionWorried about the country/world/economy etcUps: spending some really good time with the familyGoing for long skateboard sessions and enjoying the empty roadsa lot less laundry now that i have stopped wearing pantssaving money without buying stupid **** How is everyone else?
  6. I will see your 8D and raise you to 24D
  7. I hoarded a whole bunch of snacks, then ate them all on day -1. Now I am fat and have indigestion.
  8. I just made a total rookie error. By failing to move my family's kiwisaver funds from aggressive to low risk, I have just realised a loss of over $12,000. I am normally totally on top of that stuff. Now I have moved to a cash position to mitigate the bleeding and will have to hope for a bounce back eventually to move back on to aggressive to try claw back. Stupid damn virus.
  9. Hi Everyone. One of the downsides of immigrating is that we have a much smaller support structure. This is an open offer to each and every one of you on this thread - if there is anything my family can do to support your family during this team, send me a PM and I will do everything I can to help. It is important to look after our mental health during this and I am happy to take calls or video chats anytime. Day or night (unless you are a telemarketer in which case, bugger off) As the people in our new home always say... Kia Kaha
  10. Stay safe peeps. I am worried about my Safrikiwi family. @Dawie, glad you are locked down this side with your family (and bikes)
  11. Absolutely agree. mmmmmm....onion rings.
  12. This is something I struggle with a lot. I absolutely detest faux meats. The mouth feel is too similar and it messes with my little brain. I think they are great for people transitioning, but once you have made the move and adapted and found your love for veggies, you wont need it anymore.
  13. I had three trips planned over the next six weeks. All cancelled.
  14. When I just did my motorbike learners, I was taught that a out of action traffic light in Nz is rated as a traffic circle where you are to give way to people on your right. Because Nz has very few 4 way stops they don’t use the 4 way stop rule. Edit: so the give way rules apply. https://www.aa.co.nz/cars/ask-an-expert/motoring-rules-and-regulations/show/11266/
  15. Vegan cheese is a crime against humanity and should be outlawed.
  16. Highly recommend this https://www.imdb.com/title/tt9054904/ Was delightfully dark. Filmed well and had some twists in it. Were the 80's really that gaudy!
  17. I am going through this at the moment. I absolutely love a particular pair of Nikes that are now discontinued. I called Nike head office and the lady introduced me to a different site that people sell new sneakers on. Its a cool system. The seller has a pair of shoes, they list them. The buyer can either buy outright or bid. Once a match takes place, the shoes are sent to a verifier that confirms the shoes are in the correct condition (new) and that they are genuine and not fake and then they are sent to you. The buyer is only paid once the shoes are delivered and verified. https://stockx.com/ A large portion of the site is dedicated to collectible sneakers, but there are heaps of running shoes as well. On a side note, the Nike self lacing shoes from Back to the Future are on there and the last pair sold for more than ZAR500,000. This is not the most expensive shoe on the site. I basically have bought two pairs of my discontinued shoe for about 2/3rds of the original price when they were available. Now I have a spare.
  18. why do you feel the need to have a shake?
  19. Slight correction - I dont always obey "Full Vegan" - Sometimes its tough when travelling etc. But certainly strict vegetarian. I may eat some dairy once a month or so if it cant be avoided. Or sometimes something I eat has mayo on it and i have no other options. I am lucky though here in NZ - we have a grocery delivery service that was started by a masterchef winner. Basically, they deliver all the raw materials for your family dinners and a recipe and its all plant based. Here are the recipes for next weeks food https://www.myfoodbag.co.nz/recipes/details/15012-butternut-pumpkin-crumble-with-freekeh-walnut-salad https://www.myfoodbag.co.nz/recipes/details/15011-mexican-quinoa-bowls-with-roasted-corn https://www.myfoodbag.co.nz/recipes/details/15010-thai-red-kumara-curry-with-crispy-sesame-chickpeas https://www.myfoodbag.co.nz/recipes/details/15009-madam-woo-s-tofu-char-kway-teow-noodles
  20. I started by eating more veggies because they are yummy. Then I realised how much healthier I felt and looked. Now I eat veggies only. But I am labelled a Vegan Nazi with memes and snotty comments about how I am a total loser for wanting to feel and look better. Yet parents all over the world tell their kids to eat more veggies all the time. Funny how life is.
  21. We seriously need a "dislike" button on the hub.
  22. The port hills area is our #1 pick for location. Somewhere between there and Sumner. Excellent advice Patches. Thanks
  23. This is an excellent point - Thanks
