  1. I am embarrassed to admit I actually don’t know. [emoji4]
  2. I have university exams around the corner. A little different this time around in that they are "Online Time Constrained Assesments" Same thing as an exam, but I can use my textbook. So will probably be focussing on that. Maybe a cheeky restaurant meal and a nice long run (by my standards) Thats about it. Busy booking some domestic travel for the break between semsters.
  3. Yeah, will probably rent for another year to strike when the iron is hottest.
  4. Is it though? The conversations I had over the weekend with a few mates and my in laws says otherwise (granted, small sample set of people hence why I am asking you the genuine question) Not trolling you at all - I am genuinely interested. I have a lot of people back in SA I care very deeply for and am worried. The Covid stats for SA dont look encouraging at all. The blatant racism and racial tensions seem to be escalating and my thoughts are that the vast majority of the population cant/wont socially distance to allow the virus spread to slow to a manageable rate. I tried to keep up with the covid thread, but that's near impossible.
  5. We are heading down south at the middle of June to go look at houses. CHC is the favourite, but The lakes region is also a strong contender.
  6. Well said Dude. Also, hindsight is 20/20. Easy for me to sit back at the end of this and argue what was right and wrong, but much harder to make those calls in the beginning. Anyway, back to the original point of this thread...where are you going on holiday when this is all stable?
  7. Some new goodies arrived.
  8. I agree with the following: This is a problem that is going to take time to repair and it will get worse before it gets betterMost of the world is going to be effectedI would rather be here than almost anywhere else on earth to recover from the fallout. Kiwis are resilient and the economy reflects that. I am in no way trying to say that things are going to be peachy, but I think NZ will recover faster and better than most. @ Layercake - not to tell you what to do, but of the three destinations you have mentioned, I reckon NZ is probably the best. Timing totally sucks though. Sorry dude. Hope you come right and If there is anything I can do from my end, just shout!
  9. https://www.realestate.co.nz/3719134/residential/sale/4-pennine-way-huntsbury This is nice...
  10. Yeah, thats true to some degree. Although one could make an argument for this being the disruption that is needed. Shared or remote workforces mean a smaller degree of traffic and thats a good thing for most people, those building can hopefully create an opportunity for other projects and a lot of them will simply be repurposed into shared spaces. I certainly would not want to be sitting on a heap of commercial property right now. Historically considered a fairly safe investment, now not so much. Interesting times...
  11. My thoughts...if you were offered a job and could move and start working almost immediately YES. I would rather be here than most countries. Intern is right - things are going to be bleak for a while. But they are going to be bleak everywhere. Some places slightly less than others. I think NZ is one of those places. If you were coming here to look for work in a non highly skilled profession, I don't know if finding work would be that easy. It certainly would be hard to justify to Immigration NZ that there are currently no NZers that could do the work.
  12. Hi Gen! I am so interested in this, what makes it Vegan? Or more to the point, why would a conventional chemical cleaner not be considered vegan? NOT TROLLING! Genuinely curious. Here in NZ we don't have Vegan cleaners, but there are heaps of Environmental Cleaners that are touted to be safer for the environment and using less harsh chemicals. Is this sort of the same thing you are referring to? Or are the Vegan cleaners using ingredients made specifically from plants?
  13. This. We had been looking at buying. Now we are going to sit back and watch for a little while. Where we are looking in Port Hills CHC, we are expecting to see the prices reduce. But now with the situation you outline, maybe a nice lakefront 4 bedroom place in Queenstown is on the menu.... Our company is going to get rid of its big $22k a month offices in Newmarket and encourage people to work from home permanently. We are looking to get a much smaller office with 5-10 desks on a rotation basis and a boardroom for client meetings. Basically a space about a quarter the size of what we had. This means that wifey and I (we work for the same company - Intern knows this) can work anywhere in the country for the same salary.
  14. I bought my daughter a flat pack bunk bed. My back was totalled after 6.5 hours of reading mandarin and building it. #ifeelyourpain
  15. This whole click and collect thing is bonkers - at least, Torpedo7's version of it. I am urgently looking for an ANT+ usb adapter. Torpedo7 are the only ones with stock. I do an online order and a banner pops up on the site saying that if I want it sooner, I should consider click and collect. Given that I am ordering it on Saturday at 7am, i figure, that would work. I place the order. By sunday afternoon, I have heard nothing so I contact Torpedo7 to find out whats going on. They tell me that the device is sitting at the despatch centre to be couriered to the nearedt branch and then they will contact me to collect. The despatch centre is physically located less than 1 km from the branch. So the item timeline is: Order Saturday. Despatch overnight on Monday to travel 1km Unpack and arrange collection by Tuesday Afternoon Collect Wednesday. How exactly is that faster than just having it couriered directly? I dont like being mislead by big corporates and have cancelled my order out of sheer childish spite.
  16. Look, I am far more liberal and left leaning than you and even I think that mayor is a tool. The very nature of business is to make money.
