  1. Another sad story about being a victim in your own country. Prayers and thoughts with her and the thousands of others who are suffering through these senseless acts. Sad so say but time to pack bags and leave.
  2. Go to your LBS and get a bike rack that you put on the wall. It is adjustable and gets bolted into the wall. The hook is very small and covered in rubber. Should set you back about R100. I have 2 bikes in my garage and it is very neat.
  3. Ok see your point GrantC, clearly my head was up my ar*e when I read the whole sponsorship deal. I registered after the sponsorship deal closed anyway. Arranging my own private sponsors.
  4. That Specsavers sponsorship is a bit of a con really. I understansd that they need to get something back for their inputbut to be honest nobody in my family wears glasses so a loyalty card that I have to spend money on is a waste for me. 2nd IM whereI amgoing private and I can wear what the hell I want. At least my wife will be able to spot me easier. How poor is that IMSA website.?? If you compare it to overseas IM websites it is rubbish.
  5. What 2 races are you thinking of doing Attie? I have looked at IM West Aus, Austria of New Zealand.
  6. Pounding the road for 11 hours at Comrades puts big strain on your legs but 17 hours at IM is tough in its own right. I think they are both hard but I do think people go into IM and lot more prepared than people who attempt Comrades. I am talking about the average joe, not the top boys.
  7. For those of you that don't run, 2:30 and 2:45 marathons is flipping fast.
  8. I would love to do Swiss IM. I want to try do an overseas IM to compare what the local one is like. This will be my 4th IM. I was not too happy with the date change but they said it was because of the weather conditions. Last year the water was awful and the worst yet (although I went faster). The problem for us up in Joburg is that it started getting colder and darker for those last three weeks on the bike when it was in March. I am not looking forward to training in March and April. Is it merely a coincidence that Two Oceans is the same weekend that IM would have been, hence the change in date? I feel like the fitness is right up there. I am swimming well in the dam on a Sat afternoon and did 150km to the reserve, thru and back again on the bike on Sunday and felt good when I got back. Running is my weakest leg (pun intended!) so still have big miles to do with the running. I must say that the body gets used to the training after you have done it a few years, plus I have a 10 week old daughter to contend with.
  9. Like the quote says " Do or do not, there is no try!" Triathlon is a lot more possible to do than most people think. I played soccer for 25 years, go figure.
  10. Ox Wagon - we probably did meet at the get together at the Wimpy. I have a bad memory so sorry about that. I saw Cervelo at the Joburg Tri Series. Attie - I think it is going ok but with the difference in race date it is hard to judge where exactly I am compared to last year. I can't judge running races that I did last year like the Dischem because it is 4 weeks earlier in the training than last year. You doing IM this year?
  11. Ja I know about him, he actually introduced me to the hub. I met him at last years Ironman, funnily enough through the Runners World forum.
  12. I am curious to find out if there are any other triathletes on the site that are doing Ironman SA 2008? I know this is a cycling hub but we do also ride 180km solo in our race...
  13. Could they get any more colours of the rainbow on Baden Cooke? My 928L is by far a much better looking bike. All carbon with a small amount of celeste. My verdict: Ugly Piece Of Italian Craftmanship
  14. I would like to see some serious punishment handed down to the coward who drove away after stopping 150m down the road to take the mangled bike out from under his car. Too many cyclists and runners are losing their lives as a result of these bad drivers.

    no helmet

I often shout abuse at other riders who don't wear helmets and will refuse to ride with someone who does not want to wear a helmet. I would not want to scrape his head off the tar. You ride with me, you wear a helmet, full stop! What about these people that spend 10 grand on a bike but buy a silly polystyrene crap helmet to top off their fancy cycling kit. The helmet is the most important part of your kit. Don't cut corners!!
  16. Don't stress Gary, I have an 8 week old daughter and everyone said my Bianchi was going to gather dust and that my Ironman days were over. Well I have news for them, training for IMSA 2008 still going on track. A lot of guys use their kids as an excuse when they are lazy...
  17. Eish!! I like Bianchi but that is a bit of an eyesore. You lookk at Garys new SL and you look at the Barloworld frame. Ugly duckling!
  18. La vita e bella, io amo la mia Bianchi. (Life is good, I love my Bianchi) That is once special ride Gary. Poetry in motion.
  19. Feel sorry for anyone who has just bought the Team issue BMC. Saw it at the 94,7 expo.
  20. Knocking 2h04 off my Ironman time and realising that the bike leg is my strength out of the 3 disciplines as I ranked 165 out of over 1600 people, including 40 odd pro's. Hopefully I will shave more time off next year.
  21. Lets get ready to rumble!
  22. Hope I never end up in that shop....
  23. If the seller does not pay you back in a reasonable time then name and shame him. The seller will probably plead ignorance about the crack. It is only fair that he pays you back in full, maybe he can then claim warrantee or from his insurance. You must definately advise the frame brand though.
  24. Hey Holy, are you able to leave one at Pro Cycles for me? I will give the cash to Paul or Ian. i know you frequent the shop,
