They said on some cycling programme the other night that the goodie bag was a real good one this year. What a lot of crap! The only thing I will use is the Hollard bottle which never leaks. As for the other rubbish, straight to the bin. Why do they always give us old crap magazines that they were not able to sell??? I got an Auto Trader from beginning October, do me a favour!

Myself and a mate were swerved at and threatened whilst riding in the yellow lane near Joburg airport on Saturday morning. Funnily enough we were riding behind each other at the time. It is enough to make you give up cycling. Idiot was in a X5.

I ain't complaining, I ride a 928 Carbon Bianchi with Campag and support Barloworld so think it is a world class move.

I would post a pic of my little girl that is 5 days old but not that technologically advanced to load it. My baby is called Madison Lee and is the best thing that ever happened in my life. She spent her first night at home yesterday.

It is just a way of life that we all rush everywhere. As i mentioned i run quite a bit and I run on the opposite side of the road and into oncomming traffic in quiet suburbs in Benoni, you will not belive how often people drive as close to the pavement as possible in order to get me to jump onto the pavement. Our pavements are in such bad condition it makes running on them difficult. I just laugh and shrug my shoulders knowing that the fat, high cholestrol smoking idiot will not have as healthy a life a me. They are just jealous as I am healthy and fit

Motorists have the nerve to tell us we don't obey the rules of the road. I cycle 2 hours every morning, drive around all day in my car as I am in sales and then run on the roads in the evening (triathlete). Nobody gives a continental about road rules, cars go thru red lights, stop streets, illegal u turns, talking on cell phones so I say they can stick their crap attitude to us cyclists. I am never afraid to despatch a water bottle at a car if they deserve it. And I pay my taxes so have every damn right to use the public road. Sorry just a bit wound up about our safety!

I will join only if we ride flat sections, I hate uphills, D2D was a torture.

At IM i was 72kg (1,71m short) but due to a cold winter, lack of training and too much food and alcohol, pushing the scale at 78. Started my proper eating plan again yesterday and hope to be under 70kg by Ironman next year. The problem is the most appealing food and drink is just so bad for the weight control but after the first climb this morning I am going to have to make the sacrifices.

Probably next year sometime. I am not wasting my money racing as the seeding does not get updated so see no point. Will rather train long and hard, comparing times in my training diary.

FIT can't be such a bad product if teams like Hi Q and Harmony use it and the previous HSBC team was on it. I believe that everybody should try products out for themselves and use what works for you. It is not really pleasant to slate a product in public.

The spare tubby with half my picnic basket was damn heavy on Sunday. The tubby came loose and I had to put it in the back pocket of my shirt. I see a lot of guys on racing wheels with no spare tubby. I would however use a spare at Ironman. I have Joes in my wheels. Currently riding Continental Gatorskins at the moment. My local bike mech did it for me. He says the solution works better than the Stans.

Hence that is why I am doing all these races now cos I don't want to start late and suffer in the african heat. if only they would sort that bloody seeding out. Sitting at 24 and should be 18..

There is nothing wrong with belonging to a club, it works well in road running and it does not force you run certain days and routes. I think it will be good for cycling.

I have a set of Corima that were branded LOOK. I only race with the wheels and it makes a big difference. The big thing for me would be service and back up on wheels if anything went wrong.. I raced with a spare tubby on Sun and it was the last time I carry unnecessary weight with me in a race. If the slime does not kick in then tough luck, I will get on the sweep vehicle. I punctured 3 times at Carousel and the slime closed all 3 punctures.

The elites are lucky enough to start races before the wind picks up and the sun starts beating down. Surely that also helps them, even though they are in a totally different class.

I do the 94.7 every year, just for the hell of it and want to start at a decent time. Also want to get the seeding dwon so if I do decide to race then I get a good seeding. You up for IM again next year?

I agree, on Sunday I am a group behind my mates because they are so slow with the seeding index. I did not race much in the last two years due to Ironman training and have been racing now to get my index higher. If this is the situation I will just train as per normal, not race and all the race organisers can stick their race fee's. At least running races are worth the money.

Run swim and play a bit of golf.

I heard the dreadful news this morning at Finish Line Cycles. To Ryan and all those close to him we are really praying hard for you guys.
