I don't commute on the bike everyday, but on the way home I take the N1 route. The shoulder is very wide so the cars don't really trouble you. As mentioned before, the Woodstock offramp is where you need to pay attention, but again I have not had any troubles. At the time you leave the traffic should be fairly heavy, which means the cars travel slower and you can more easily navigate that intersection.
