  1. ok i have a problem it is no longer one that i can ignore and am going to seek medical advice but want to get a view from the forum first, my legs are strong i know that as i can push more than most in either a squat or leg press but i cannot complete a ride or the day thereafter without severe cramps, either in my quads or hamstrings, i am healthier than most with gym training and a very healthy diet but this baffles me, could it be that i do not eat any salt? i have heard that salt is one of those necessary evils( in the correct amounts of coarse)but i honestly dont like it and as such avoid it wherever possible, if i use a product like cramp block i am for the most part ok but this is also inconsistent and i am in a state of constant worry that if i do any leg exercise i am going to cramp. every time i train and ride i ensure i consume enough water, i am unfortunately not able to drink energade of one of those as i am diabetic, well i could but it makes managing my blood sugars very difficult! in short i am asking what suggestions people may have that i can try to avoid this, is there a certain food or mineral i need to be adding to my life or am i just going to have to accept it? any advice is appreciated.
  2. guys i know i am doff, most of the time anyway, but what is it used for? cant seem to find what they are for anywhere online.
  3. ok i have no clue about the dont sand blast part, cant for the life of me figure why though, i can understand why you wouldn't powder-coat the frame but sandblasting i dont know. i do know though that you need something for the paint to bond to and pure alu with a slightly rough surface will allow the paint to bond nicely. i have had success in the past with normal tin spray paint but thats clearly not the best way to do it, depending on what kind of paint job you want and how artistic you are you can airbrush the frame yourself, the best paint in my opinion is automotive 2k and 2k clear-coat once complete, only thing to remember above all else is that your paint job is only going to be as good as your prep so clean clean clean and use latex gloves, paint doesnt like the oil on your fingers at all. It will possibly peal or blister if you tough the frame with bare hands prior to painting, best thing to use is a high alcohol ether type solvent at first then a good wash and clean with sunlight, dry with lint free cloth and allow to sun dry for about 15 min in a "clean" environment before painting to make 100% sure the frame is dry. for 2k allow about an hour between the first 3 coats then 24 to the next, and 24-36 after that for the clear to ensure the paint sets properly. not sure if that a help but thats my experience with paint, have painted many RC heli canopies and recently my bike frame too so thought i would throw my 2000000000000000000 zim dollars in.
  4. awesome thanks guys, have set at 190 as it felt a bit too soft at 170 and feels great. thanks for the help all.
  5. ok guys i am a bit confused, i have recently mad the move to a soft tail and purchased a cheap shock to get the bike ridable, if i was to go on feel, in terms of not knowing what the hell i am doing, i would have set it at 250 odd PSI, this however is the max the shock should be pumped to so am confused, how soft should it be? oh its a rock shox air R shock and i weigh in at 85kilo's. any advice is welcome.

  7. have also been hit many times by the wave that is life in this country. i think i am going to run for president one day some of the laws i am going to pass are: if you drive in the yellow lane you get hung in town square. you steal you get hung in town square. rape, castration with a dull pair of spoons stapled together with some rusty wire. murder, let the crows have your still screaming carcase for whatever meal they see fit, each day we will help keep you alive by cleaning the wounds with vinegar and sulphuric acid, scrubbed clean with steel wool. corruption, well lets just say the leather s&m death from the movie seven would be mild compared to whats coming. may not be in power long but will make sure i rid the country of as much as possible in the 3 months or so i manage to hold on
  8. hi all, i have made a monumental mistake, i striped my frame to sand and respray, as it is a carbon frame the cable tensioner's at least thats what i hope they are called) are not part of the frame in the same way they are on an alu frame, hence to get a proper spray done i drilled the pop rivets off and sprayed then re-attached, problem comes in where i have misplaced, and for love nor money i cant figure how or where, the front de-railer one. this as i am sure you can imagine presents a problem. does any one know where i can buy a replacement or perhaps have one from an old frame or something i can buy/ steal etc. i honestly dont know what else to do or try. thanks in advance.
  9. what a wanker, while i agree with the principal of let he who has no sins throw the first stone there is a big difference between doing 130 on the highway and 180+ on a winding blind rd such as that, while its not going to do much for the morality argument i think this oke should be hung naked in the city center covered in molasses and left to rot. its pricks like that that get people killed.
  10. he has been there for quite some time, every time they try to relocate him he seems to vanish, he has been named Houdini for that reason. have heard many reports that he wanders in and out of the surrounding properties at will which is why they cant find him. not sure if he is the offending party in the Harties and Heritage Lake spotting but from what i remember, my ex girlfriend does the database admin for Northern Farm, he was originally from Heia safari yes. best advise is stay well clear
  11. Nice now we need Details mate Details, which trail? how far, any falls, scrapes, bruises( ego not included) etc. as izzypzee says, now kiss all semblances of a life and spare cash good buy
  12. sorry to ask a really stupid question but diesel? i can understand the meths but the diesel confuses me. i had a cheap chain cleaner at one stage which worked ok but was a pain i th ass to put on and get off etc, lookiong at getting a clam shell one to use soon, just need to find a cheap effective degreaser to use once the little bottle that comes with is finished
  13. i have had the opportunity to speak to people on both sides of the claim, and from my experience i have seen them work and not work. i know this is probably going to open a can of worms but having no scientific proof, and by that i mean proof that can be substantiated by science and math rather than a persons experience. i honnestly think it is a snake oil marketing ploy that has made the company more money than i think we would all like to admit is possible from spinning a few good stories but my opinion doesn't really count for much. i have worn a PB bracelet and for me i saw no effect whatsoever, my oppinion is that it is a rubber band as per the opinion of most of the hubbers. from the other side of the coin i have physically seen a result, note i must admit it was more than likely a psychological effect rather than a physiological effect but when i first got my bracelet i went cycling with my girlfriend and a friend of hers that has not cycled since getting pregnant almost 2 years ago, hence a bit of fear and very unstable on the bike, riding to slowly to get enough "keep me upright" motion going, due to this she fell more often that i can remember, as a joke i said she should take my bracelet as it was supposed to help with balance, as sure as i sit here at the moment she had the bracelet on she stopped falling. admittedly this is no proof but for her it "worked", a placebo effect perhaps and more than likely a psychological aid more than anything else but is that not kind of the point? in an emergency a person can, thanks to adrenalin, do things we all wish we could, pick up that car, jump 30ft between buildings etc, if the drug/hormone gives the "know i can" effect is it not perhaps a good point that some people are going to "think they can" and there for "believe they can" and in some instances do. a waste of money for most perhaps but if you believe it works and for you it does, despite the lack of proof, who cares!! i know it makes no difference but after some thought this is my humble 200000000000000000 zim dollars worth.
  14. anyone tried to hit the PB or /southafrica/ site, seems they are unavailable, thought it was my internet connection but have tried on another pc and same result, seems the ausies are not as big a cowards as the local guys. funny as hell this is, admittedly i bought one, never really believed it worked but tried none the less to answer my own curiosity, not quite sure how to kick my own ass but going to have a great laugh trying though. hehehe
  15. Welcome to the addiction, beut of a bike, only problem i see is the USN waterbottle (duck. have been riding for 7 months now and love it, where you planning on riding?
  16. was told to check it out for a decent price on a second hand mtb by my boss, sighed up and now enjoy reading more than posting on whats up out there in the world of cycling.
  17. sheesh lots of opinions on right vs partly right vs wrong, my humble 200000000000000000000000000 zim dollars is that if you dont want to be called by something in an argument dont post it, that way even if what you are saying is lighthearted and someone having a bad day or even mis interpreting what is being said, see's the post no offence can be taken. also there is a very fine line between a joke and personal attack, even if only in perception. i do not envy Admin for having to deal with this situatuion, all i can say is i really do enjoy the forum, yes that includes some of the less than correct personal attcks, only because i can walk away and not take offence, touch wood if i was on the other side of the attack i may feel differently. good luck. oh on a lighter note..... POPCORN!....PEANUTS!.....POPCORN!....PEANUTS!.....hehehe.
  18. hi guys, i was wondering the other day if there is an after market anti sway/bike separator system that can be bought independently of a bike rack, at the moment the pool noodle being used to stop mine and my girlfiends bikes smashing into each other irritates me something silly, i have tried to find something online with no success, have thought about trying to engineer a plan of sorts with an old strap on bike rack i have at home but that may just be a *** idea. any suggestions or products out there i should rather look at?
  19. Cajees are sharks, and no its not all of them but they are sharks in general, i went in to the bedfordview chop looking for a camelbak i had seen online for R600 odd, their price was R1499, when i asked why it was so expensive the guy told me that's what they cost and a discount of R100 was offered, on mentioning that sportsmans in the same centre had them at R1100 his price all of a sudden changed to meet it, that's when the stanger boy in me came out and i said well if you can drop it to match sportsmans give me a better price, to which his exact words that took my breath away were " that's the price if you don't like it go to sportsmans". while i agree they can charge whatever they like i think the attitude towards their clients/ potential clients stinks, as has been pointed out argue with them and get a better price( not that its a good price) dont and get shafted with out even the decency of some lube. while i am sure there are poepple who have had good experiences it seems the mantra for them is lets see just how much we can overcharge and get away with. just my humble 2000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000 zim dollars worth.
