Thank you. I was in the front bunch of FL ( still a very big bunch at around 13km where the accident took place). There was a car ( I thought it was a truck) that flew past and at the exact time an accident took place . Then 5 secs later this guy in orange took me out. There were others in orange that were apparently involved in first accident too. I was very offish towards the guy who was extremely apologetic. I forgive him as it was an accident but what he did was extremely dangerous and stupid. I hope he is ok.

Was off to a good start and at 13 km there was an accident just behind us. Someone then mentioned to the guy on my right that his friend had bailed. This guy next to me just reacted like a school kid and made a beeline for the side of the AT 45km / hr. Well this idiotic move wipe us both out . The result : Double fracture in shoulder and R20k in medical bills . The moral of the story : HOLD YOUR LINE , ,ALWAYS. If we were on the right hand side of the left hand lane when this stupid move happened we could both have been killed with the amount of Trucks passing the tightly packed peloton. COME ON!

From what I understand from original post is that these guys were caught at Fountains. Does anyone know if they were linked to any bikejacking in Groenkloof nature reserve? It is not clear

No I was not on Vitality unfortunately. The increases year on year were also completely out of line. 20 percent plus increases are unrealistic, particularly in 2009 in the middle of the recession. It just got too much! They have lost a customer for life.

Virgin is just a plain ripp-off. I was with them for 4 years. Now I just cycle. What irritated me most, and the prrof is in this thread, is that everyone seems to pay a different fee. Its B.S. ! It's like insurance, they start high and when you complain they lower it. Its all about commission for the sales exec. I understand they need to make money too but this is ludacris!

I'm not going to show or tell my girlfriend about this, she'll never join me at Groenkloof again!

The intention is to make anyone, from whichever corner of the country feel guilty for ignoring a fellow cyclist who is being polite. In your hour of need, you'll not want to be known as ''the guy who never greets''.its just my opinion.

Not at all bud! I initiated plenty of waving and greeting. After about ten days I just gave up. It was Knysna to be exact. Don't want to take out the whole Cape province but I wasn't impressed. If you have cycled in Gauteng you'll know what I mean. The guys are very friendly! Just mu observation though. Let's see what the others have to say!

Which province has the friendliest cyclists? I think Gauteng 1st, Western Cape stone last. A simple wave is all it takes. When in the Cape in December I was shocked at how unfriendly the local cyclists were when riding past one another. Lighten up, no need to be unfriendly! Gauteng is my home and I am proud to say I am a cyclist from Gauteng. Hope this post will make a positive difference.

Oh, one more thing... There is a stolen bikes section on the hub. Next time you see someone with jeans and a shirt riding a bike, why not post your experience there.

Just be sure he doesn't work for the local bike shop and has been sent to go buy a box of smarties at the corner cafe.

I live in Centurion and the day my bike was stolen from my garage two inspectors came out within an hour of reporting it, another guy came and took finger prints and another two inspectors came to question the estate security gaurds that same evening. It was also a Sunday on which all this happened. I never got my bike back but I felt that the Lyttelton police did an amazing job! I was blown away! No I'm not a cop and I in general I don't think they come close to the calibre of police in first world countries but they do surprise me from time to time. Thanks Lyttelton Police for making an effort and for taking my case seriously.

I lost 13kg last year, down to 85 from 98 and it was by changing my eating habits. I did no extra fitness training. I saw a dietician which made the world of difference. I had no idea how to eat properly and really learnt a lot. I ate 3 meals per day, ate pretty much what I wanted - except the portion sizes were way smaller. The diet was called the exchange system, maybe google it and read more about it. I received mine from the witch who weighed me each week. I lost 8 kg in first 3 months and never put it on again. Took it slower and lost 13 in one year. Have never put it on again because - have learnt to eat properly.
