  1. Hi NAV006 Have him build a "custom" bike, all at the same shop (then you could weal a deal better). My suggestion would be a Niner, Santa Cruz or Cube (something cult'y). Rig it as best you can, and with a 50k budget, that will be GOOD!!! Like this we can choose from rims, spokes, hubs, chain, derailleur cables, BB, fork, etc... Should be a killer bike!!!
  2. Looking at these guys, Danny MacAskill included... Makes me realise I should sell my bike and go live somewhere, alone on a beach!!! Makes you feel that you cannot ride (yes, even if it is a different discipline...)
  3. Hi MATAZ Bleeding any AVID is a humungus PAIN in the ... you know where! I have a set od R1's on my geared bike, and RX's on my SS bike. You will not fine lower maintenance, well powered brakes anywhere else. The price as well is a KILLER deal for what you get!!!
  4. Christoph Also consider the Niner brand. They make ONLY 29" bikes, and have been doing so since 2003. So my take is, they have got it down to a T. Most other companies based their design on their current 26" bikes, and there came the downfall RE geometry. By now, most of the "bigger" names have got it sorted. I ride a Niner RIP9 (AM 120mm travel bike), and LOVE it!!! Happy shopping
  5. Hi guys A year or two ago, I ordered a set of 29er Mavic wheels (C29SSMAX), and some other stuff in the same order. Mavics were shipped, together with the rest, to SA. Have seen soem other Mavic items shhow as "Only EU", but have ordered and received anyway. Happy shopping
  6. Hey SS guys I hope Grant Usher have made arrangements for these ladies at the beer-tent...
  7. Something to consider taking up in our spare time, off the bike...
  8. Hey guys Some of the roadies in town, recently told me a NICE story... They were from Parys FS, with some SERIOUS bikes, did I say SERIOUS... They passed a farm worker on a dikwiel bike. Some time later they looked, and this dude was drafting them like a pro!!! Suer if they were gonna GUN it they might dropped him, but at the pace, relatively motoring, they were VERY VERY surprised to see this guy haning on. Dikwiel 1 Roadies 0
  9. Hey guys Mike's bikes in Greenside is BEST. I ride from the far WEST (North West Pr) to go do business there. Advice is spot on, and workmanship is excellent. They answer your needs
  10. Hi Kandui Do your front derailleur settings over. I had a similar issue. Try these steps: Loosen FD cable clamp bolt Set inner limit of FD exactrly right (with no cable tension). Change your gears up all the way to 1st (at the back, and check that the FD is JUST not rubbing on the chain when you turn the pedals. Turn the FD shifter barrel adjuster all the way in (clockwise), and turn it 1/2 turn out again. Hand tighten the FD cable and lock in place with the clamp bolt Now, inner limit will be set 100%. Next, shift up on the bigger ring (rear in 10th gear, 11t sprocket) Set the FD outer limits now that the shift doesnt over shift the chain. In 11T rear and large F chainring, the chain, again, should not rub. Now, set the FD cable tension so that the shift is good and immediate. Hope this helps

  21. Hey Iron Looking forward to see you there, and meet the REAL IRON, looking at the ratios you are turning!!! Gheezzz, 33/15... Eina
  22. Yep guys I hear Winterton has NO flattrack... So, either saffaring uphill, or running out of revs flats and downhill. So far, I am undecided on ratios, but will be taking all my spare cogs with. Then, there I will have to decide, 16/17/18/19/20/21 (x32). Gonna be a blast in every way possible C ya all there
  23. 100% agreed with Capricorn's list's order...
  24. Weight lowering on a bike becomes an illness. Sometimes referred to upgrade-itis (you know, the "infection or inflammation" of an area, and there is NO CURE for...) As I said, the stuff where you can get the MOST weight savings from, for the "least" spend (in relation to weight savings gained), is; Frame Wheels Tyres Thereafter you will spend money, more than the weight worth in gold, to add a few more grams of savings... Have a good one
  25. Madvics Read the attached article... Frame, Wheels, Tyres... And from there on, well read Death of a Weight Weenie _ 29er Online.pdf
