  1. Go Santa Cruz Build a set oh Hope hubs onto a Stan's Flow rim. Flow rims are almost like a free-ride rim, at only a few grams heavier than the Crest, and you will ding the Crest, I have a set of wheels like this on my Niner RIP9, and they are one of the best parts on my bike. Not a minutes hassle or maintenance in 2years. A "fit and forget" part. That suits me, less maintenance and more riding time...
  2. FIZIK Aliante XM works like a charm for me
  3. This might solve the problem... https://www.bikehub.co.za/index.php?app=hubmarket&do=view_item&item_id=27608
  4. Hi there guys A few questions: How long before you have the stock? Cost per tyre? For the XKing and Race King versions In the Protection Black Chilli compound option? Looking forward to hear from you
  5. Yip As far as I can recall
  6. +1
  7. Hi there mr HED The short answer; YES!!! Upgrade to a 20mm or 15mm, and the front end stiffness is unbelievable!!! Especially on 29er's with a larger wheel diameter. If you can, even consider a rear thru axle... Yip, stiffness in the rear also makes a BIG difference. Happy building and good luck with the training
  8. Hi there slick They shouldn't have sold you any ceramics for MTB anyway. Great for road use, just to much dirt and grime for MTB use. You will not get the miles out of it. The Chris King will last you a lifetime!!!
  9. PS, welcome to the club. I do not care what any-body else says, I LOVE my 29er and will not swop it for anything else. It works for me...
  10. +1 Here here!!!!!!!!!!!!
  11. Oh yes, I also hear they will not be bringing in the 2.4 XKing (protection version) either... A pity
  12. I have looked at many places, scarce as Henn's teeth...
  13. +1 on what cptmayhen says. I have to say, that I have built up 2 bikes, to my spec, and NO upgrades needed. But, it is more expensive to build than to buy. If you can buy locally / internationally EXACTLY to your spec, it will be cheaper than a build. But, building is SOOOOO much fun!!!!!
  14. Garmin Edge 500!!! Just got mine, ABSOLUTELY amazing!!! Did the setup without needing any booklet, YES it is that easy. Really cool customizations. Loving it, so far...
  15. PS, I have a set like this, and it is absolutely fit and forget!!!
  16. Hi there If you are looking for a SOLID SS specific build, Go for the following: Stan's FLOW rims (like a freeride / trials type rim) Hope PRO II evo hubs, but go for the Hope Pro II evo SS/trials rear hub. A narrower freebody, made of steel so the SS cog does not rif into the aluminum freebody. REALLY great set of wheels. Try Mike's Bikes in Greenside for a build / quote. Happy Hoopin
  17. Yip I have 2 Chris King BB's, both for MTB. When you do get them, get a Chris King BB grease injector tool as well, also expensive... EINA. BUT, then you clean and push new grease in every 6months or so, and the stuff will last you a lifetime!!! In my calculations; Ordinary BB, around R350 Chris King BB, R1000. You need to replace a BB every 4-6months, so if you have your King for more than 18months, you are in the clear!!! Get one (or two), they are the real deal
  18. Solly, You can have mine... Used, but in good condition (one small scratch on window). Selling for R1800 (not neg), incl HR strap, IR connector and 2x bike mounts and speed sensors. Let me know if you are interested (not even advertised yet).
  19. Have R1's for close to 1 1/2 years. Bled once (new when fitted), and never again. Still HUGE stopping power!!!
  20. These pics make me... Feel like I should sell my bikes!!! Because I cannot ride like that. (just like the Danny McAskill stuff)
  21. Hi guys Attached is a study of rolling resistance for tyres. Width does not play the biggest part, funny enough, as does pressures... So go fatter and softer, for a comfy ride. I am considering a Conti X King 2.4 setup front and rear. PS, just make sure you use low rolling resistance tyres like Schwalbe Racing Ralph, Rapid Bob, Conti Race king or X kings Rolling_Resistance_Eng_illustrated.pdf
  22. This is copied from the order confirmation / dispatch note: Order Item Status: Complete Shipping Method: Parcel Force International | Shipping Date: 17/02/2012 00:00:00 | Shipping Reference: EE188910003GB (I just changed some digits, for privacy etc) Package still in GB: Use the link and enter the tracking nr, and you will have an up to date parcel tracking / location. Package shows arrival in JHB: If you use this mentioned nr, and supply it to the operator on the SA postal tel nr provided, they can tell you if the parcel has arrived in SA yet. As soon as it has arrived in SA, you can then be provided with a SA tracking nr. Whoilla
  23. +1 Once, they made a mistake with Camelback water-bottles I ordered. Issue was resolved in a day or two, item sent free of charge with some other free goodies as well!!!
  24. Guys When ordering from CRC, remember these few points; Free shipping takes longer. In my experience, 8 (working) days from dispatch date. Royal Mail Int, in once instance, for me, took just as long. When you want to check where your parcel is, do the following: Use the "tracking number" provided. You even get one with the free option. Then phone this nr, 0860 111 502, I saved it as SA Postal international. They receive your package, sort the customs and taxes and give it SA Postal tracking nr. From here it will be a day or two until you have the parcel. RE out of stock items: As the website says, you will ONLY be charged for items "in stock", and the other items will ship and be charged as they come back in stock. So, I ONLY buy what is in stock, to avoid unnecessary shipping charges. Otherwise, if when you ordered, and the item shows "in stock", and out of stock at checkout, email them, explaining the "bulk" ordering, to avoid shipping, and in my case, they waived the additional shipping charge for the parcel sent later. Happy shopping
  25. Guys If you are targeting longer distances, go 29er. Look at Burry and the likes, as well as "most" girls doing the Epic and other marathon events; 29er!!! If you are riding more fast and short distances, like pure XC, go 26" Happy shopping
