  1. Cearus I also wanted to ad, that ONLY your seat rails allow you to adjust the seat position. If the seat is adjusted to a max (fore / aft), and still NOT in the correct position "knee over pedal axle", then you have 0% adjustability left anyway, with your seat in the incorrect position. So again I say, no matter what seatpost, setback or straight, get your seat position 100% correct, and then the rest. Also, be careful with BIG jumps in stem length adjusting, 1cm can make your puppy behave like a dog... Happy hooping
  2. Hi there Caerus In my opinion, FIRST get your seat position (IE knee over pedal axle) right, no matter what seat post you use, straight or setback... Then, and only then experiment with your stem lengths. Your butt over BB is the one where you cab cause most issues with hands, knees and elbows. (huh, sounds like an old ad, "hande knee hakke elmboe..." Have a good one

  8. Guys guys guys... Please let us not forget, our SPORT is for all of us, having fun, TOGETHER. So let us stop measuring,...well..., wheel-sizes (in this instance), and just have some fun. Let us not forget the quote from the "Godfather" of the modern mountain bike (be is 26', 27,5", 29"), Gary Fisher, "Anybody who rides a bike is a friend of mine." © Lets keep em Rolling...
  9. Horses for Courses guys... Do you take your BMW 3series to go fishing in Mozambique??? Choose your weapon according to the battle you are fighting. Cheerio
  10. Hi there Wapad ZTR Rims are really nice. I had Mavic CS29 wheels, and "upgraded" to a set ZTR Flow's with Hope hubs. I said "upgraded" as the ZTR's are slightly heavier, but reliability was my main concern (my Mavic rear rim cracked longitudinally between some of the spokes). My ZTR Flow and Hope hub build came to 1850g. Me being 105kg's, the strength of the wheel and build was important, as I like to fit and forget... And this is exactly what I got with my new wheels. One comment I have to make, lateral stiffness and wheel strength had my RIP9 feel like a NEW bike on the ZTR's!!! Really GOOD. Recommendation for a build, visit Mike's Bikes, Greenside JHB, 011-888-8868. In my experience, really solid advice and they meet your demands / needs in a reliable answer with a well suited product. I had my wheelset built there, and 100% after a couple of months now... RE the rimtape, use the recommended STAN's rimtape width for the rim. Buy yourself a roll and keen in your spares box. Oh yes, the Crest's recommended rider weight is around the 105kg mark. Happy building and then Hooping...
  11. Hi there ALL My experience with Dr du Toit Loots is that he will tailor his advice to your specific needs. I highly recommend him (and his advice) and his supplements. Happy Hooping
  12. Hi there Doggone I have been riding 29er now for over a year, and FULL TIME TUBELESS... Things you need to consider: 1. How many spokes are your hubs laced with (32 / 36)? 2. Your riding style (all wheels in the ground / air-ie fairie)? 3. Your weight? 4. Your requirements from the rims (e.g. low maintenance)? 5. Rim selection will depend on all of the above (spokes, style, your weight, weight you would like your wheels to come out on) I have had a set of Mavics 29CS and a pair of ZTR Stan's Flow 29er recently accuired. My bike feels completely different from one wheelset to the next. These rims are available here, and for the service and backup, there is almost a negledgable difference in price (even more if you consider the +-20% IMPORT DUTIES). In terms of lateral stiffness (witch is what you want on a 29er wheel), the Stan's beats the Mavic HANDS DOWN!!! I must add, the Stan's was built specific to my weight and riding style... The shop I will reccommend is Mike's Bikes (011 888 8868)in Greenside (maybe 15min from Cresta). All the mentioned issues will be addressed, and then some more... Happy hooping
  13. Hi there Use the "free shipping" method. I have used both options in the past, and the one with DHL (that I payed extra for because I needed the item sooner) sook EXACTLY as long as regular shipping. The DHL package changes hands locally (propably because I am outlying) to another courier company, and my extra $ was for nothing. Regular shipping to my PO Box usuallu arrives on the 6th workday after ordering. Happy shopping
  14. I have placed at least 5 orders in the last year or so. Excellent service, anything from 5-10 day delivery (local delays). "Import tax" is around 15-18% on bicycle parts (you can actually get rates on SARS website). Clothing however is taxed at 40% plus... Just a tip: shop around well and compare major online store prices, like CWC and buycycle.co.za I have noted that some of the local sellers beat SOME of the prices from CRC. Shop cleverly, and with an order overt 3k shipping is for free (keep in mind the duties) Happy shopping
