  1. No good deed goes unpunished..............
  2. Spez don't allow online sales of their bikes or frames. I had to get someone to physically walk into and pay for for a frame in a LBS in Australia then courier it to me in SA. The LBS was adamant they could not post it themselves to myself or a friend in Sydney.
  3. Yip that is def my old bike - Was built up at Bridge cycles in about 2003 with tiagra groupset - never replaced anything on it when I had it. wheels came off my partners scott probably about the same age as the bike. I LOVED that frame, get him to drop his price and upgrade the drivetrain and wheels, you wont regret it.
  4. OMG, I think that's my old bike! If the seller is in Cape Town then it must be mine with 8 speed tiagra, I had it built up with tiagra, the wheels are my partners old wheels and the saddle belonged to an ex boyfriend.. Sold it about 3 years ago on Gumtree for about R4000 if I remember correctly. Damn I miss that bike - upgraded to carbon with Dura ace but still think about that bike often.
  5. This is such a fun thread, it makes me want to have a kid so I can buy him/her a mini bike!
  6. Bloodly hell my arm is so swollen from the bee stings, hope no one got stung who was allergic. Are race times going to online at all?
  7. Looking forward to it, I am worried that it is going to get warm out there tomorrow
  8. My insurance company is not interested as I had not specified the rack in my policy. Not one of those you think about until it happens. And my car was undamaged. So annoying - he knows he is liable, he admitted he would have to pay for it and now he is back tracking. What is wrong with people.
  9. So my bike rack was driven into last week while I was parked at a shopping center. I got the persons contact details and told him I would contact my insurance company. My insurance emailed to say they won't cover the rack. I then phoned the guy who drove into it and asked him to claim from his insurance, his car was also scratched. He said he is not claiming from insurance and cant I just have it bent straight. My question is surely this is now a weak spot on the rack and with prolonged vibrating while driving the arm could snap? Would any of you guys trust this. I have sourced a replacement frame from the supplier and emailed him the quote but he is now not replying to my messages
  10. So jealous, wish I had done that instead of the Val de Vie. I broke my seatpost at 22km so had to join up with the 30km route. I saw no no single track in the 45 km I completed, was there anything in the 60km? The advertising for the event said world class single track. The T-shirt was nice.
  11. Hopefully not too bad when I went back an hour later the road was cleared. All that is left is glass and sand over oil with white spray paint showing were the car was. No body bag at least.
  12. The main road in Lakeside is closed to traffic. A cyclist has been hit and all I can see are crumpled bicycle wheels and emergency vehicles. I was just beginning to think I would start training on my road bike again.
  13. Sounds like my mom: 23 Argus cycle tours - has never changed a tube. She just phones my dad to come out and do it !
  14. Never had a good experience in store but seriously you went ahead and dropped 3k after a comment like that?
  15. Riding on the M5 in morning traffic in the rain? seriously? WTF
  16. Luke is great. He has even had the patience to sit with me in the evenings, after work, while I built up 2 of my own bikes in his workshop. Was lots of fun and I learn't so much.
  17. Stay 150km away, I use their online shop and most of the time it works like a dream but the 5 - 6 times I have been into the shop have been awful. It may be because I am blond and female but when I finally can get someone the give me service they are usually disinterested and/or condescending. I always get the impression that they take one look at me and decide I am not cool enough / hard core enough / rich enough to be a serious buyer. I took a friend there to buy an entry level mountain bike and the salesman didn't offer to let him sit on the bike let alone test ride it, I had to take it off the display myself and say to the salesman can he take it into the parking lot to try. It was an embarrassing experience with someone who I really was trying to get into the sport which I love. It made me appreciate the small LBS where the owner is the salesman and knows that if he treats you well you are likely to go back the next time.
  18. In a similar situation After this happened: I ordered one of these: But now I feel like a dork: But at least I have my front teeth
  19. Exact same thing happened to me after about 3 months.
  20. Wasn't there a legal case recently where a businessman leant a colleague a few million rands. The colleague never repaid the loan and the case went to court. The businessman lost the case as he was not a registered credit provider. Doubt Neils Wheels is a registered credit provider.
  21. Face first into a tree ...
  22. I rode Tokai late yesterday morning, the weather was amazing and there were so many riders enjoying a break from the rain. These guys must have been very brazen/ high, it was hardly a day when you would consider yourself riding alone or vulnerable. On our way home we were passed by 4 speeding cop cars, they all entered Westlake and drove passed the gym- Must have been following the church robbers.
