    Cricket......

In all the fuss of people rushing to say what a great player Hashim Amla is and how criticism of him is unfair, I haven't heard a decent explanation from anyone in-charge for why he stepped down mid-series. Such a move is really significant and the main 'news-point' of the story, acknowledgement of a major failing somewhere.

Havent heard them, but they had THE WORST football commentator - Tommy Smyth who was worth muting if you weren't in the mood to harangue the TV set. Do you like the Sky crowd? They seem to be pretty balanced though pom-biased in make-up. R2000 - worst one is Laurence / Louwrens? somebody.

Not saying we're going to run through you, just that something of interest has happened! I said before R2000 team (mostly) is like a bunch of SA fans have found the commentary box unlocked and empty and decided to have a go. One in particular makes up for a lack of journalistic ability with partisan enthusiasm.

Me and no.2 son wanted it to end but there were no towels to throw in - Rabada shouldnt have been exposed like that, I hope he comes back quick from it. After all that, Stokes' dropped and run out - comedy gold.

Ok - I see Cricket SA have targets of 4 PoC in the team including 1 black african. If Rabada replaces Steyn, that could be a credible move and i'd like to see what he can do. With Amla and Duminy out of form, it's hard to drop them without more depth in the PoC ranks. Getting a good side and a racially balanced side is a difficult trick to get right, but once started let's see CSA push the policy through at the lower levels so there are more good folk to choose from. If it works according to the best theory and intentions, SA will have achieved something really commendable. If it's done half-assed or for show, then it will be a horrible situation for a very long time.

I think that might be arranging deckchairs on the Titanic. I didn't think Steyn was fit coming into this, now he's out for the foreseeable, who have you got to come in? If Anderson is fit and we'll only play him if he is, the gap could well widen between the two sides. Who's this Bavuma fella and it looks like DeVilliers head is not in the right place. Was hoping for more of a contest.
  16. That's good and I'm surprised this subject hasn't ever come up before on the Hub.
  17. But you have a beard?
  18. Like a 7yr old thinking up the rudest things he can say.
  19. No, and don't call me Shirley. C&C, I like you and especially that hit you had with the Music Factory - Everybody Dance Now. My first TB in 2012, which was also my first MTB event, took me and my partner 21 hours. We didn't sleep, though some of the stops got to 45-50 mins. It was the river crossings year I'm quite proud (surprised / amazed) to have done it and the time is immaterial. In fact because it took us so long I'm even more proud to have done it. So, to this year's 21 hour finishers - bloody well done!
  20. You're saying it's the same level of liability as if a cyclist was run over by a motor vehicle during an event i.e. it's part of the environment?
  21. Looks good - any chance of a map, or directions, whilst I try to find my "adventure envelope" to push? It's ok found it here along with their website http://www.danielsrust.co.za/map.htm
  22. Boxing I don't get why people want to draw a comparison to footballers, though - there's plenty of hard contact in that sport but its a different product. Cycling is very straightforward, watts per kg and pain endurance; football is a more complex skilful spectacle, both have appeal and demand different qualities. A plumber isn't a baker but you need both to make the world more interesting.
  23. We're on 40 a day with no change in sight.
  24. Well half of it is suspended and I guess half of the other half can be cut for good behaviour. I think you got a sentence as tough as this, only because of Burry's profile and the intense lobbying by his friends and family. Its a lot more than Oscar.
  25. So you're going with the "what is truth?" gambit on a Tuesday afternoon - ballsy and optimistic I'd say. There is no truth, just perceptions. Point the camera one way, you see one thing, point it the other, you see another. You can make a story from facts but it doesn't make it factual, nor true - depends what facts you use and which you don't. Everything is perception. You film a crowd rioting from the police lines, it looks a lot different to filming it from the crowd. And whatever prejudices you bring to a subject, As the great Simon and Garfunkel once said: "A man sees what he wants to see and disregards the rest". Other than that I don't have an opinion on the matter.
