  1. Another thought on this. When I worked running a steel merchant's in Malawi, all the Asian retailers got together one time to set a minimum price for roof-sheets - a FMCG up there. I asked a couple of them what they thought of the meeting and agreement and they said: "it's great, we all find out what the agreed price is, then we all go back and undercut each other". The market is the market and water follows the path of least resistance. I doubt the cycle retailers would stick together which may be one reason that 20+ of them disowned the thing pretty rapidly.
  2. Depends how much you make on each one and what your other costs are. 6% of turnover as net profit before tax is not unreasonable, so that would be selling R75m to cover it. R4.5m penalty for attending a meeting & not answering questions after is quite steep as well as the reputational damage. I'd expect to get fired if I brought that on any of the companies i've run.
  3. The bus could get a bit confining and it makes it a long day. Cars are quite closely controlled on the route but they can get from stop to stop. Best is probably for them to do their own thing imo.
  4. There should be a ladies racing group but otherwise the batches go off according to age, with Comrades at the back - they're not runners, they're people that want to ride together.

  6. I wouldn't baulk at R550 entry myself - great value for money, always a great experience and a small part of the overall cost of the weekend. On road closure - they got it where they need it on the N1, otherwise there is virtually no traffic. It was cool but scary when they didn't have road closure coming down the mountain and weaving in and out of the oil tankers. Love going up to LT and doing this.

    Cricket......

With the talk of extras - wides basically, isnt that a product of the pressure produced by the batsmen attacking and the bowlers looking to keep the ball away from them?

Got to gloat - that crusty old white guy on Radio 2000 had written us off after 18 overs of your innings and had talked himself into a win for SA in the next game and....and...... So, well done England, not great at this game and keeps the group really interesting. and to Pommie commentating in a fair and enthusiastic way applauding any good cricket.
  9. Went to see Hunger Games by self on a Friday night, so tired left halfway through. The next week I went back bought another ticket and finished it off.

No issue for me, batsman is stealing a yard and putting himself at risk. It's a major part of baseaball as far as I can understand it, you take your chances. On the current ODI - it looks like deja vu all over again.

Effectively we've got (colourless) restrictions to keep you buggers out: A player becomes eligible to sign for a county under the Kolpak deal only after he gives up his right to play for his country. According to rules, a Kolpak player must not have represented his country in the past 12 months and during the period of his contract with a county, he will not be eligible to represent his country. The Kolpak players will be eligible to play for England after plying their trade in the country for four years.

Looks like the team has one heroic performance in them, but the gap was too big to cover for longer than that. Looks like Rabada is the real deal - very glad to see someone like him come through.

Agreed - cant see how folk think the 2nd innings scores are going to be a lot higher than those in the 1st innings. Whatever is set is going to lead to a nervy finish. Effectively you're 20/2 so if you could keep it under 150 I'd appreciate it. Update 20/3 - thanks
