  1. And changing your saddle height and setback from the setup is going to compromise the other measurements; your reach, knee angle, etc, which is going to put you back where you were - with back pain. Did you have the Ergofit (static setup only) done or did you go with the Ergomax (dynamic on-bike setup)?
  2. I also took a while to adjust to the Ergofit setup. My saddle was moved back a fair bit and so I felt it in my glutes more. As I understand it your saddle setback is determined to some extent by the type of riding you do. If you do XCO type riding your saddle would be further forward than it would for marathon riding. This is because having your saddle further forward recruits the explosive power of your quads, while having it further back puts the larger glutes to work which apparently is better for endurance. I would stick with the setup for a bit. Since I got used to the new position I have been extremely comfortable on the bike.
  3. I find spinning and lifting much less of an issue on a 29er. But I don't think its simply down to the big wheels, rather down to the geometry changes required to accommodate them, since the chainstays and wheelbase are likely to be longer which should help prevent these problems? Several people have told me about the better traction on a 29er and I feel it uphill but on a gnarly downhill I found my old Trance more planted and less skittish than my Anthem 29er. To solve the OP's problem a 29er would help - in my limited experience. But you end up buying your skills not learning them so go with the Crow on this.
  4. I had a bike fit done and was recommended 172.5 cranks on my road bike and 175 on my mtb. I am 181. But my advice to anyone considering buying new kit in that will change the geometry, ergonomics or performance of the bike is to get a bike fit done first! It costs a lot less than buying the wrong size crank, stem, bike, etc. And once done you have the measurements for life.
  5. SANParks stated mission: To develop, manage and promote a system of national parks that represents the biodiversity and heritage assets by applying best practice, environmental justice, benefit sharing and sustainable use. Unfortunately the chops that run it haven't read this; they seem to think that they should simply police and prevent rather than facilitate responsible and controlled access for the public. They run the parks like they are their personal fiefdom, when they are actually there for all South Africans. They are simply the managers.
  6. chuckmefarlie, will this thread ever end?! A deposit is money given in advance to show intention to complete the transaction. You didn't complete the (initial) transaction so you lost the deposit. Nuff said.
  7. I think everyone realizes there must be BEE of some sort. But think of it like this: If your (white) kids cannot even apply for jobs in this country what will happen? - those that can will probably leave for opportunities overseas. Is that the aim of BEE/AA? Is it good for SA? The way I understand it: If a black person and a white person apply for a job and both are equally suitable/qualified then the job must be given to the black person. But this is not how it is implemented as employee demographics must now reflect the national demographic. Which can give rise to such BS as this - remember Jimmy Manyi's "over supply of coloureds in the Western Cape" statement?
  8. Try Maryke. She has been coaching me for a nearly 2 months now and I have seen dramatic improvements in my riding and running times. Search here on the Hub you'll find she has good reviews from others too. And her price is very reasonable. maryke.verster87@gmail.com
  9. Hi Knippie. The results file seems corrupted - I cannot open it. Please check, thanks.
  10. So my Garmin showed 1288m of ascent and 116.9 km of distance. A really scenic ride. Could become the West Coast's K2C? Although my legs fell off at about 90k I enjoyed it.
  11. Never ridden with Records but my Centaurs certainly don't work as well in the wet as in the dry. Discs would be better.

  13. Hey Knippie, that profile for the 115k shows 2203m of ascent! Not 1400m! Who's fooling who here?
  14. Cycling is still relatively cheap in this regard. If you really want to feel ripped off, start paddling. Annual WCCU (Western Cape Canoe Union) fees are R820 per annum. And then still race entry fees on top of this plus club membership fees (required to join WCCU).
  15. Anatomic make one. But I don't think its "breathable" so I reckon you'd sweat a bucketload in it.
  16. Pressure seems a bit low. Stans tire pressure formula would have you run at 2.4 rear and 2.2 front for your weight. That said I think Schwalbe recommends around 2.4 as the max pressure for their tires if run tubeless.
  17. Tip I got from a panelbeater to get tar off my car: Use an old orange bag (the net kind). With a little soapy water it removes it choppers and doesn't damage the paint.
  18. My Ergofit setup recommended 172.5 on my road bike and 175 on my mtb. As a rough guide i am 181cm. Can't remember the exact reason for the diff, but I think Renay said my knees would take more strain with 175 on the road.
  19. Try Renay Groustra. He's a pro XC rider who does the Science to Sport (Dr. Jeroen Swart) Ergofit setup out of the Epic Bike shop in Plumstead. renaygroustra@yahoo.com
  20. This was some of the other k@k. Came with the conversion kit. Going back to Stan's.
  21. Yeah wasn't sure but eventually tried that, but I think the sealant was poked by then. Will do that first next time, thanks.
  22. I use a pump. This is the first time I've used bombs on this tyre.
  23. So I did the Burger yesterday and got a few punctures in the back wheel. First one sealed itself. Second one (i think it was the first one reopening) wouldn't seal. Bombed it, spun the wheel, no joy. So I put in a plug, bombed it and it still wouldn't seal. Put in a tube and noticed when I did so that the sealant had turned to chewing gum which was now lining the inside of the tire. and there was some (very little) very watery looking sealant in the tire. The pic shows what it looked like when I got home. The sealant has only been in the tire for 5 weeks so its not old. Is this caused by the bomb? And if so what is the solution and are there CO2 bomb-compatible sealants?
  24. Yeah, good event. Enjoyed it. Thanks. And the wind wasn't quite as strong as last year!
  25. Batseal works well. And the kit is well priced - Around R350 - and easy to do yourself.
