  1. Double post...
  2. Maybe a good idea if one is using a GPS cycle computer or GPS enabled phone, when riding an area on your own, perhaps take note of your position or set up a way point or something similar in order to find your way home in the event of becoming lost? Glad he's found!
  3. When are these taxis going to be reigned in? I'm so sick of seeing this sort of cr~p in the news. Taxis kill people from all walks of life and at some point, the "powers that be" need to take some sort of decisive action. Even if they were all new and roadworthy, the way they are driven contributes almost daily towards lives being lost. RIP fellow cyclist and more importantly, somebody's loved one.
  4. I have a mate who uses the stuff they put onto cow's nipples before attaching the milking apparatus. it has a small amount of local anesthetic in it. I used it once and I must say, it works. I'll try find the name of the stuff and post it later
  5. They suing the OP for R450K? How many Chinarello deals fell through then because of this publicity?
  6. I carry a spare tube and some self adhesive patches in case the tube doesn't manage to get me home. Never needed to patches until yesterday at NF when I came across some Diepsloot development riders who needed them. I was close to the end of my ride, so I gave them the whole lot. I did however notice that I was losing air whilst waiting for my egg roll at the end and wound up having to plug three unsealed punctures when I got home. Patches take up no space and weigh nothing. Even if it's being prepared for those who aren't, I try to carry as much as my saddlebag (yes, saddlebag - ) can accommodate.
  7. Reminds me of the chirp by Daryl Cullinan. As we know, he was notoriously bad at facing Shane Warne. so one day as he made it to the crease, Warne said to him that he'd been waiting for the showdown down some time, to which Cullinan replied "Yes, and it looks like you've been spending most of that time eating"
  8. lols, I have two daughters who like to play nail salon. So on occasion, I allow my toe nails to be painted. Usually, they need to take it off right away, but the last time was during winter, so I thought it wouldn't be a problem. Any how, I needed to go and fetch my son on a winters afternoon and decided to throw on a pair of flops. When I arrived at his friends house the friends old man, who I knew, gave me a very dodgy look. I thought it a bit rude but carried on. Two days later, I broke my ankle. When the doctor took my sock off the injured foot she took one look at my toes and said, wow, that's pretty. Only then did I figure out why my son's mate's old man had looked at me skeef a few days before.
  9. If it's within the parameters of the law, then by all means, no charges. However, some serious civil suits should be dealt with against the department for allowing such behavior.
  10. Google pocket pistols, they're quite small and easily concealable. Having said that, you are only entitled to use it if your life in in danger, so beware.
  11. I would like to see what the effect would have been if the bolts were attached in the same positions and the wheels were proportionately differently sized or even no bolts with proportionately different sized and weighted wheels.
  12. I use a Tundra 2 and to be honest, they're hard as nails. I wasn't even aware that they had padding to collapse in the first place. Still, after my ~ss was worn in properly, it's the best saddle I've had.
  13. I've only ever owned HT bikes. I have ridden DS and must be honest that I quite enjoy the liveliness of the HT from a feedback perspective. Having said that though, I believe my next bike will most likely be a DS for no other reason than the fact that I have a few friends who used to share my view on the HT and changed their minds after riding a while with the DS bikes. If you can, ride both and decide from there.
  14. I tried when we moved into our new offices at the beginning of August, landlord vetoed the idea tho... I asked the beauty parlor over the road from my office if I could pay them monthly in order to use their shower facilities after a midday run. Being Thai, they were a little unhappy about the idea so I left them for a week or two. Going back, I asked again and was told, again with a suspicious look that it was not going to happen. My closest bike related venue is Cajee's (also over the road) and I'm not paying those crooks anything. So, Virgin Down the road it is, I was just hoping to not have to get into the car.
  15. I'll try that, thanks.
  16. My seat post seems to be slipping a little each time I ride. I've looked around and found a few people suggesting copaslip as a solution. I have tightened it as far as it will go and still a bit slippery. Any suggestions/ideas?

Good thinking by whoever stopped anyone from taking the brake lever out of the wound. I believe that is where most of the damage occurs on these types of injuries as the item stuck in the fella could actually be stopping the bleeding. Apparently pulling out a knife or other object when it goes in often allows the blood to start flowing and the injured could quite possibly bleed out. Hoping for a speedy recovery as well as a similar or worse fate for the c~nt who pushed him off!
  18. I moved from Avid Elixir 7 to Shimano XT and all squeaking stopped. It was new rotors as well. I believe the Avid make more noise in the wet as well. I must say tho, alothugh very ugly, the Avids worked well.
  19. Price differences are quite big on some of those items, I'm assuming you checked to make sure they're all the same spec/series?
  20. Thanks fellas for the feedback. I've thought about powder coating but have heard that often the heat involved will compromise the welds, any thoughts on this? I was afraid that this would end up being my only option, I was just hoping tho...
  21. Ja, it'll be raw and polished once complete, so more paint stripper it is then...
  22. I have an alu frame that I'm running out of patience with trying to get all the paint off. Is sandblasting before shining/buffing the frame a viable option?
  23. What a lekker race that is. Not sure what your HR should be, but make sure you keep enough gas in the tank for the run. You're not going to make too much time up in the swim, but if you push to hard on the bike, you'll k~k off on the run. That's what happened to me for my first tri.
  24. You'll get laughed at and teased all the time. And they call a 29"er with same size wheels a clown bike?
  25. Those should stay lost boet...
