  1. It's never too late to start, but I have found that I need at least 8 weeks of training before I feel any sort of peak in my performance. Then 1 week rest and then I'm good to go for a race.
  2. When did you start?
  3. Anyone keen for Thursday morning? Longish route.
  4. Always tired and always hungry are good signs that you are training hard enough
  5. The route from town to Chappies is always full, most days of the week and you should always be able to find someone to ride with. This group usually gets back to town at about 7:30 / 8:00. Tuesdays and Thursdays.
  6. I get this too. Not only is it a physical barrier, but a mental one too. You immediately start thinking "I am not feeling strong today and I still have 152km to go - oh dear".
  7. Ok, tried a Snickers bar. They are pretty good. I think I'll alternate between the 2. On the melting front, for longer rides I use one of those super cool and fashionable bages that you strap onto your top tup and head tube
  8. Cool, I will be there with another guy. Please wait for me, I might be a a few minutes late.
  9. I'll be heading out tomorrow morning, if anyone is keen to join... Leisurely pace from town to Chappies and back. 6am to 8am.

  13. Anyone up for a leasurely ride tomorrow morning?
  14. I will try them.
  15. Why not do both at the same time? What about riding with a radio and earphones...? Or even a Drifta...
  16. Since I can't stand energy bars, Gu, protein shakes, etc, I stick to eating chocolates during rides. I have recently discovered the miracle that is the Bar-one Peanut Power chocolate. http://www.nestle.co.za/Common/NestleImages/PublishingImages/Brands/whats_new/barone_peanut.jpg More energy, more protein and it tastes awesome. It's also not as chewy or sweet as the normal Bar-one so you can get it down pretty easily and it doesn't burn your throat. One of these an hour and you're sorted. Flip, I love these things. (Sorry, I must sound like a tub of lard, but I'm actually not)
  17. My sternumm has started clicking. (like when you click your fingers) Is this normal?
  18. Yip, also shave my hair for cycling. Wife hates it...
  19. I met a guy who stopped cycling 6 years ago and he still has a hectic permanent tan...
  20. Imagine having 30 hours free to cycle every week...

  22. Let's share some interesting affects cycling has had on you... Sore eveything. Always hungry. Always tired. My 3 fingers on my left hand went numb for the first few months.
