  1. Reminds me of Eddie
  2. It looks like they come with the wire pre-attached. You'd need to splice it onto the existing wire and then use some heatshrink and silicone sealant to make the joint watertight.
  3. What are all of your guys' seeding on the Cylcelab index? Maybe they're basing seeding on that?
  4. Maybe it'll do what it did end of 2008.
  5. It may be too late now , but these articles might help: Rear Derailler Adjustments Rear Derailleur Overhaul Chain Length Sizing
  6. Just don't pitch up on Sunday looking for an entry - late entries are only taken up 'til Saturday. My entry had been taken.
  7. Not really. They give you a little mesh bag to stick your shorts in when they go in the washing machine. They also say wash and 30°C and no fabric softener.

  9. It might depend on your bike fit. The CR1 has a shorter top tub and a longer head tube than the Addict. For fit, flexible pros, the Addict would likely be better. Otherwise the CR1. I don't know prices, but I suspect the CR1 frame is cheaper than the Addict which means that you can get better components at the same price point on a complete bike.
  10. No, no, no, that's just new to spinning.
  11. Why should the buyer go for a communication method they don't prefer when, ultimately, they're the one who's going to be giving you money. You need to put some effort into actually selling an item.
  12. I prefer SMS/email as it provides a written record of all transaction details. Very useful if things go wrong.
  13. It's a vacant lot between the Public Library and the Land Bank: http://maps.google.co.za/?ll=-33.926828,18.416407&spn=0.000003,0.001742&t=h&z=20&vpsrc=6&layer=c&cbll=-33.926723,18.41648&panoid=NuaehuHrOAa1_ETIHYS7zA&cbp=12,278,,0,8.04 It would have been even cooler if it was just down the road, next to the Supreme Court.
  14. Reminds me of this wall in CT:
  15. It's only illegal if you're driving a motor vehicle. A bicycle isn't a motor vehicle.
  16. Yeah, RS aren't cheap. I usually browse their site to find a good description of what I want and then get it from somewhere else, like Mantech or Communica. At the time, they were the only folks who had what I needed, though.
  17. The argument I've always heard given is that you use the same amount of energy, regardless of gear, when you're going at the same speed (power). There is a direct relationship between the inputs (pedal force and cadence) and the output (power, leading to speed). All that changing gear does is modify the ratio of force to cadence - higher cadence = lower force, lower cadence = higher force. It can feel like it's harder to ride at a given speed when in an easy gear if you're not used to it, but the actual efforts are the same. You also need to focus more on keeping the cadence up. For an absolute beginner, I'd just get them used to riding and finding out what feels good for them. Only later start working on proper cadence etc.
  18. A long time ago, I was looking for those sealed connectors. At the time, I found some at RS Components (you'd have to Google them).
  19. It's interesting that the people on the Hub who really do achieve the good results in big races, very seldom even mention them themselves, let alone boast about them.
  20. Cash to SAPO or EFT to courier company (if they allow it). It can be a bit annoying when they show up unexpectedly at your doorstep asking for R1439.38 in cash (and of course, they never have the correct change).
  21. The Sciroccos are one step up from the Ventos in the Campag line. It goes something like Khamsin, Vento, Scirroco, Zonda, Eurus, Shamal, Hyperon, Bora. I personally have never had issues with customs delays for items that come via Parcel Force (the CRC shipping method) and UPS (the CC one). There are no duties on wheels. The 17% includes all the VAT, currency conversions etc. that you will pay. The Post Office will charge a R30 clearing fee on top of that and DHL charges R100.
  22. My experiences from using both the local Campag agents and Wiggle are: If you order from Wiggle/CRC now chances are good the wheel will arrive within a week and will almost certainly be here within two weeks. If you order through the local agents, the wheels might arrive within three weeks. You will end up paying about 17% in VAT charges. If you feel like paying a bit more, Competitive Cyclist have some Scirrocos on special for $250: http://www.competiti...0011.266.0.html The will charge $121 to ship them to SA, but even then, your total, including VAT, will be about R3250. The also send stuff by DHL, so it will take about 3 days to arrive. Also have a look at Fulcrum wheels. They're made by Campag and have the same specs as the Campag wheels.
  23. Dont' buy any Campag parts that come through the local agents. They will be significantly (up to 50% in some cases) more expensive than the same part bought from Wiggle.co.uk and to a lesser extent CRC and CWC.
  24. Illness
  25. Anyone want an entry for this race? I've been told I can't ride for the next three weeks, so mine is looking for a home.
