  2. This attitude of entitlement (which I'll admit, I'm also guilty of) amazes me. I can't afford something so, instead of foregoing it or saving until I can, it's my right to steal it or buy a fake.
  3. Weight loss, at it's core is about eating less calories than you burn for exercise. How you get those calories (from fat, from carbs, from protein) is largely immaterial, provided the overall calories stay the same. A weight loss shake will only be effective if it gives you fewer calories than the meal it replaces and if you do not then go and make up those calories by eating something else. A diet bar is worse than useless if you're treating it as an additional snack, rather than as a replacement for something with more calories. Lustig's criticism of fructose is somewhat alarmist. Here is a well reasoned and referenced analysis of the video, to provide a balanced opnion: http://www.alanaragonblog.com/2010/01/29/the-bitter-truth-about-fructose-alarmism/
  4. Forgot your gloves...
  5. That was silly I think it could have been worded better, so I've changed it.
  6. Can anyone give me a rough idea of what second hand Edge 705s with Cad,HR and SA maps are selling for these days? I would look myself, but it doesn't seem possible to browse through past/closed classifieds anymore. If you've recently bought one, what did you pay? If you've recently sold one, what did you get?
  7. The pull ratio on the FD (the amount it moves for each mm of cable pull) is probably different, but with a Campag front shifter this shouldn't matter too much, since you can trim them. I'm not sure how well a Campag FD would work with Shimano shifters, though.
  8. Italian thread BBs have two sets of RH threaded cut, so they have been tapped with a single thread. English BBs have a left and a right thread, so need different thread cutters for each side. Right hand thread follows the right hand rule: make a thumbs up sign with your right hand, if you turn a RH threaded fastener in the direction of your fingers (anti-clockwise), it will move in the direction your thumb is pointing. Using your left hand, you can see that a LH threaded bolt moves up when it is turned clockwise. To illustrate that cutting thread from the other side won't change the direction, think of a nut and bolt. Both are RH threaded. Put the nut on the table and mark the facing-up side. Pretend this is the side from which the thread was cut. Screw the bolt into the nut - it goes in. Now flip the nut over, so that the mark is on the table (in other words, the nut has been threaded from the other side). The bolt will still thread into it.
  9. Check the \History\Laps folder. I think the Edge stores unprocessed history files there. You might have to edit the files with an XML editor to clean them up if they've become corrupted. Otherwise, I think you can force it to process the files by turning on the Edge and viewing the history on the device itself. Finally, unplugging it from the computer and plugging it in again sometimes works.
  10. I wonder how many people will take this the wrong way.
  11. Let's be fair to Pinarello and not include manufacturer's claimed weights. After all, Pina claim a Dogma frame weighs 950g. That is, however, the raw frame without any paint or fittings. Add those on and it hits 1200g.
  12. It's funny that you mention the Dogma and separation by grams. Dogmas are around 200-300g heavier than anything else in their price category. In fact, there are alu frame modules that are lighter than the Dogma. Edit - adding some weight numbers from Competitivecyclist.com: Dogma frame, fork and seatpost: $5,499; 1,845g Bianch Oltre frame, fork, seatpost: $4,999; 1,672g BMC Team SLR01 frame, fork, seatpost: $3,850g; 1,470g Scott Addict R1 frame and fork, Thomson Masterpiece SP: $2,893; 1,398g
  13. Yes, with the latest firmwares. You can do it with Sportstracks or Garmin Training Centre. I don't know if you can do it with Garmin Connect.
  14. Maybe they sold it and moved on?
  15. African Electroplating in Industria West
  16. I also found it the other day. Takes a bit of time to arrive, but now I've got enough spare cable to last me two or three more breakages.
  17. You can chrome almost anything and you can definitely chrome aluminium. There's one or two extra plating steps compared to steel chroming, so it's more expensive and adds a fair amount of weight, though. 18. I have my heater on a timer switch so it turns on about 30min before I wake up. It makes getting out of bed a bit easier.
  19. Far too much effort
  20. I need an 'it depends' option. For me, the actual act of receiving a medal has only been meaningful when I feel I've earned it and they weren't just given to everyone - mostly rowing medals from SA Champs, SASSU and Boatrace. These are medals I've actually worn, rather than just putting them into my pocket. But there are still some cycling races where I do want to get a medal as a memento to mark the race. I still treasure the finishers medal I got from my first cycle race just because of the memories. Other medals are great because they remind me of particularly fun or beautiful races. Others are just cheap and generic and get thrown away.
  21. If you're feeling ambitious, have some spare cash lying around and don't mind adding some weight to the frame, you could go ahead and chrome it.
  22. Can you add a feature so we can view the classifieds feedback we have left for others? I'm losing track of who I've left feedback for and who I still need to.
  23. What counts as proper technology? Does he also to road bike fitting? I'm still not happy with my fit, so I'm interested in giving him a look.
  24. If you want fast, tracked postage, you need to select Parcel Force as the shipping method. This will cost around R200 more than normal Royal Mail shipping. Parcel Force is the default on larger orders and any order with free shipping.
