  1. RX. More than enough stopping power for most, good weight and easy on the pocket.
  2. Too many variables to give a recommendation over the net. Yeah, there's a ball park figure, but the only way to know for sure is to take your floor pump with you on a ride and loop a section with varying features and experiment till you get what works for you. Will also aid a great deal in building a knowledge base of how tire pressure influences your bike's handling and feel.
  3. So can we. We'll still put Formula on the top of our list though. Event their DH model is lighter than XTR and the stopping power is insane. Their XC race models, although pricey, is in a league of their own.
  4. Thanks! Makes for some interesting reading following our discussion yesterday. Liked that Axle to Crown was highlighted as very few consumers are aware of it's impact and even fewer manufacturers ever mention it. The "axle-crown" heights on forks make a huge difference to how the bike handles. A huge difference. Huge and big. Depending on the model, you can choose forks and headset configurations that can change the height of your headtube by 50mm or more. That's almost 2 inches, and it's the biggest factor that you should consider when building your new bike. We spend a lot of time tweaking the bikes so they work well for a certain use, and we pick forks to match the bike we've designed. The fork you choose changes almost every number for your bike on our geometry chart. Changing the fork travel changes the bike's effective top tube length, not to mention the bottom bracket height, seat tube angle, head tube angle, and chainstay length. With fork travel increasing by about an inch per year, the new single pivots really needed a complete frame overhaul to dial everything in for the latest travel in lightweight forks.
  5. ...as substitute for not making it on the day! Have organized with Crow to bring the beers through so make sure you guys get your fair share!
  6. We'll be slaving away at the office, but we'll sponsor the beers. Good enough? Have also punted it on... Facebook: http://www.facebook....136327639726142 Twitter: https://twitter.com/Cycle_Factory

  9. Up there with the best of them from what we could see. Inside of frame is smooth and neat, paint job is top quality and attention to detail is evident all over it. We were very impressed especially after some high-end frames appointments of late.
  10. In talks and should be able to make a full announcement soon. The SL650B is available through us. Large frames in stock (at dealer) rest of size-curve coming end of Oct. Beautiful indeed. QC, paint job and attention to detail is up there with the best of them. Inside of frame is smoother than some top-end ones we have seen. Will get the calculator out and get back to you ASAP. His criptic self! Crow played drums for DNA Strings. Have a look on YouTube - it's full of their vids.
  11. The Crow's Momsen:
  12. Wish we could make it. Shop open till 2pm, then close-up, lock-up and beers-up before we start prepping for race support and bike wash on Sunday morning.
  13. Sounds good. Will PM you my contact details.
  14. From the Scott Blurb: "Larger wheels carry momentum better than smaller wheels. This means you continue to roll through technical sections without being hung up on objects and slowed down." Or as Brian Lopes would say: Learn to bunny hop!
  15. Summed up well. First thing to remember that all the pro's and con's are relative. ALL of them. 26" Picks up speed and momentum quickest - but looses it quickest as well More agile - less stable at speed going straight-ish Can tune chainstay length to pretty much anything thanks to smaller wheel Years and years and years of R&D and refinement. Strongest wheelset relative to weight Can run any amount of travel and still have sorted geo Smallest contact patch and therefor grip 27.5" Sit in the middle when it comes to acceleration Can run bigger wheels and still have lots of travel Although not quite in the middle of the two wheelsizes it does offer a great blend of "best of both worlds" ...but...does that not mean it also does not excel in any one given area? 29" Weakest wheel relative to weight Most stable at speed thanks in part to longer wheelbase (all things being equal) Biggest tyre contact patch yields most grip Least agile and maneuverable For now 130/140mm travel is where it will run out of development potential Keeps momentum best, but takes longest to get up to speed
