  1. try a more adult approach - csa take ppa's money - theft, fraud, extortion etc etc , never heard of any criminal cases involving csa / ppa and money just a thought , ppa had 8 road events between sept & feb this year , dc & 1 tonner aside. csa strcutures in the wcape have had 3 times the number of events in the same time period, methinks the ppa are losing the market.
  2. you should be riding league , u might win it!
  3. the scenario in the states is that they have a few big amateur races with big prize money but they are private races ie u don't need a racing license. the the us pros race them in spite of them facing a suspension for taking part in a non sanctioned event. here the ppa don't have races they have rides (their words) with no prize money, income generated is donated to charity iow the cyclists is being screwed.
  4. it also means that any organiser may organise a cycle event on the same day , in the same area as the ppa without having to apply to the regional / provincial / national body. at the moment the ppa's events are sanctioned by the provincial body (that is the interim agreement mentioned in the judgement) which means that the ppa has a 70 km radius of exclusivity for their event on that day. i predict the ppa will be back in court very soon becos they've just kicked themselves in the teeth.
  5. i stopped racing the s suburbs a few years ago. the traffic on okweg & spaansemachtriver road is just too much to contemplate. sorry . i would rather just ride the roads for fun. once past the s s'burbs and u take boyes to miss the very dangerous Muienberg / kalk bay section the roads are imho very safe and enjoyable. to race down okweg at mid morning is a tradegy waiting to happen.
  6. gee whiz , hectic
  7. i heard that you must be a ppa member , if your membership lapsed and your new seeding doesn't warrant a place in league they will consider if u a member of a sponsored team or club.
  8. the lights by Linea imho was a race for the dedicated racing semi pro. to race each weekend over 160 k's in all types of weather is not suited to the working cyclist. i believe a lot of guys pitched for one event and then decided to can it.
  9. i see one of your passions is commuting , same as the ppa. wouldn't you want the association you belong to inform you of these obstructions when commuting or cycling recreationally. commuting / recreational cycling takes place on public roads. the ppa should know about these obstruction and be able to go directly to the responsible person in city council to sort out and then inform their members. your suggestions would result in being given the red tape run around esp by SAPS who won't even respond to a burglary
  10. in my honest opinion , those drums are on a blind corner and are an obstruction. report to ppa and see what happens.
  11. Team SA take yellow. well done boys.
  12. it's a wonder that this event has survived for so long in S'dam. it usually gets booted out of town after 2 years. they tolerate the congestion for one year, the PPA promise to improve for the next (but don't take into account the selfish nature of cyclists). then the town fathers decide the money isn't worth the trouble and pass them to another town in the flat lands. where to next ? heidelberg or riversdale.
  13. lot of skelms in business so the sport should suit them down to a T. pun intended

    the poms blow it.
  15. thats the reason why i avoid the pavement - only have the cars to worry about.
  16. no way Jose, name & shame.
  17. "meandering"? hee hee
  18. everyone is so FUH here on the forum till it happens to them in person. who really needs the aggro of a confrontation in a shop where the experience is supposed to be at the least 'neutral' ie see what you want, get it given to you and then pay. finis & klaar. i with the OP on this one.
  19. completely out of touch with reality - mtb based wine tours - what next? drunk cyclists. wrt bike lanes, at the moment most are pavements with a white middle line and are more dangerous than the roads. fine for commuters but that about it.
  20. after 150 k's even the fittest are tired. but i reckon the cape teams will be setting a new record this year as they have just come off a 5 race series which featured 160 k races.
  21. up to the mouth and back to the cage in one fell swoop.
  22. racing etiquette in a fun ride?? you getting your knickers tied up in a knot
  23. on another note who advocates the showing of water bottles to the bunch when drinking. can't handle it. get it up to your mouth, sluk then back into the cage as quickly as possible.
