  1. Slight derail, but hopefully get some good advise. Most of you mentioning an electrolyte drink or other fluids before the start of an event. I fully understand why, but are just not able to do it. If I do, I have to stop for a nature break every 5km's for at least the first hour. I normally only start drinking any fluids for the day after about 5-10km's. Then I am good to go, but I believe it is causing some problems later on on a long day out. The rest (Breakfast & food on the actual ride) is all good.
  2. Arno from Prince Albert Cycles sorted me out ! Thank you very much Arno ! Stem on its way to me. Will pop in when in the area. Swartberg Pass still high on the bucket list. Looked at the Eesilk and FSA options, but, in my opinion, the Redshift is the one to go for. Vecnum looks interesting, but definitely out of my price range. My bike does not have such expensive taste.
  3. Hi Arno. Het vir jou 'n whatsapp gestuur.
  4. Exactly what it is needed for. Having a bit of a shoulder problem and this should help with that.
  5. Wanted it for Grind Reverse on 3 Feb
  6. Tried them. Don't have and will not have it imported in time.
  7. Does anyone know where one can buy a Redshift Stem (80mm, but 90mm will do) in South Africa ? Seems to be out of stock everywhere. (Do companies still even bring them in ?) Doing an event on the gravel mtb, and would really like to try this stem. Even considered buying the 100mm on advertised on the Hub, but I fear this might be to long.
  8. I have heard that this event is hard on the bike as well. Would it be better to do on a not so valuable but reliable HT, or rather take the chance with the DS and save the body a little bit more ?
  9. Doesn't have to be a dedicated room. I just made sure when the kids got married that I had training stuff in there before the wife thought about making it a guest bedroom or something stupid.
  10. My wife likes the spinning thing. Me, not so much. I like the smart trainer/Zwift/stats/big screen/new trail thing. We both love loud rock music. Dedicated room, cheap smart TV, cheap but loud music bar on the wall. Fan. Home laptop with Zwift. (no cost since we had it already. Only the Zwift sub) Cheap spin bike for her. My very old mtb/monster bike dedicated to the trainer, and a cellphone (music), and of we go. The only thing I spend serious money on was the trainer. Got a Kickr Core on special from CL.
  11. Friend of mine has this exact same bike. He has been to various bike parks, done a couple of 100km+ rides and is very happy with his. Had it for about 6 months and only fitted a dropper and different tyres to it. probably done about 2000km on it.
  12. How does this work ? How is it even possible ? Does he just say it is his and this can not be questioned ? Can the serial numbers not be traced ? I find it very strange that someone would allegedly sell stolen stuff out in the open like that and nothing can be done.
  13. I am sure you now fully up to speed on the pros and cons of the Trek Feul Ex 5. Not sure if that helps you with your question or not. You will get a lot of questions on the forum to help you in your quest. Where do you ride ? What sort of riding are you going to do ? What do you consider heavy ? What would you consider a limited budget ? I agree with Prince Albert. Look for good quality second hand. Lots of good deals right here on the Hub.
  14. The Rapide finished the Munga. I will never doubt the abilities of this bike again !😀 I am sure the rider was not bad either.👏👏
  15. Meer as 400km op ń fiets in daai hitte is ń great achievement ! Well done !
  16. Still a great achievement just to be on the start line. More than I will ever achieve. It was a pleasure to follow your dot. Donation to your charity was done way before the start of the event. Well done ! If the stars align, I will be following that dot again next year.😀
  17. Looks like @gemmerbal scratched. Any conformation of this ?
  18. Good safe parking available ?
  19. Not sure why. Must be the Rapide link, but everytime I look at the leaderbord I have to find OA on the list. I do not know this man at all, but get a sense of relief every time I see he is making good progress.
  20. Damn, didn't see that coming ! 😁😁
  21. Didn't even see the Rapide.🙈. Damn, if someone is willing to do this on a Rapide, then I guess I should never complain about doing marathon type riding with mine. I guess it can do it all.😀
  22. All I am reading here is a request for someone to second that an upgrade is required. 😀 Although I agree with everyone that this freebody is perfectly servicable, I will second that you are in serious need of an upgrade.😀
  23. That is very close to the cheese farm. Lots of cyclist using those roads.🤬
  24. The man himself is really squeezing every last drop out of that lemon, and who can blame him. I for one enjoyed it while it lasted. Always claimed him as a SA rider. And now I am enjoying the new generation even more. Very entertaining sport !😁
