  1. Not sure what all the fuss is about. It is clearly stated that positions 33-40 can be allocated to people in the top 10 in other UCI disciplines. Unless I am reading the rules wrong.
  2. Would like for Kung to win, but maybe a step to far.
  3. Short update. Took the Rapide on two rides this weekend. First ride was the normal coffee ride. The same comments as above. However... Second ride was at Thaba Trails. Kiwi can confirm or deny, but I am sure the development of this frame must have been around those trails. It was fun ! I think it was @Stretched@Birth that once said he felt like he was holding the bike back on the downhills. I got the same feeling at one point. But, I think what surprised me more was going uphill, especially when it became a little rough. The thing just wanted to go. I guess it will have to stick around a little longer. At least until I figure out where to use it. Oh how I wish Buffelsdrift was still open. I think this bike will enjoy those trails. Now I wonder, why not W2W ?🤔
  4. What ever happened to those Spirgrips ? You still have them ?
  5. @TVS Cycles might also able to assist. I know they they have bike transport boxes for hire. Might hire bikes as well. Thomas, hope I am not throwing you under the bus here.😀
  6. Saw the difference in seat tube length between the two is 25mm. I guess the M/L would need about 10mm. LukeLan just confirmed this. Maybe a different design bottle.
  7. Thanks. I am between M/L and L, leaning towards M/L. Seeing the photo of the L, it looks like a 750ml bottle fits quite easily. Wondering if the M/L will not take bigger than 550ml, even with side entry cage ?
  8. Did not want to *** a new thread, so decided to just ask my question on this one. I know the Supercaliber can take 2 x Water bottles. Can it take 2 x 750ml bottles ? Been to 2 different Trek dealers and they are not sure. Also not to keen to fit a cage and test. From what I can see, the M will only take a 600ml at the back. Would the M/L or L take a 750ml ? Anyone actually tried it ?
  9. So good for W2W, or is this to smooth ?
  10. Think you are hitting the nail on the head there. That geo is just not working for me. That is why I believe it is important to test before going down that rabbit hole. Maybe Niner with full Rapide spec is in my future.😁
  11. Maybe I am the odd one out here, but I am not enjoying mine. Maybe I haven't used it on proper trails and expects it to be a good "marathon" bike, but just not getting used to it. Build with new, mostly Rapide components (where possible). Thought this would replace my carbon hardtail and steel SS, but not for me. I prefer a hardtail over a DS any day. My question is, now what ? Sitting with a bike that I do not enjoy and can not sell (don't mind loosing a bit on the experiment, but not willing to drop 50%). I guess my long winded response is, Try it out first (you will have to find a friend, as there is no test ride from a shop on this one) before you spend money on something you might not be able to get rid of if it does not work for you.
  12. On the field, playing, is probably the safest place to be !😁
  13. SS is correct that technically only a new hub, although you will probably have to replace spokes as well. Length will probably differ depending on the hub you choose. Nipples will be changed as well. This only leaves the rim, which you might want to reuse to keep the wheels the same. Only concern I would have here is that I have seen my riding partners Syncros rim starting to crack at the spoke holes. also 2018 model, although it does have a lot of km's on. If money is tight, do the hub and probably spokes. For a littler bit more, I would probably build a new wheel.
  14. Agree on BHP for the win. I do not think looking at time on the hub as a member, or even reviews or amount of deals is a fair reflection any more. My profile "got lost" some months ago when BH did an upgrade of some sorts. The team quickly corrected this by creating a new profile, so all good from that point of view. Problem is, if you want to determine whether I am worth dealing with you will find I've been on the hub for 6 months, with no prior sales and only 3 reviews, all in the last 6 months. Most people would walk away.
  15. So lets see if I understand all of this (damn, it was a lot of reading) I need to offload a couple of bikes for various reason, but now is not the best time if I do not want to loose a lot of money and it might not be the right time going forward either.
  16. Having been involved in schoolboy rugby for many years, I can safely and with some confidence/evidence say that this is not even close to being a Brakpan problem as it is a "fancy" school problem.
  17. Stadig nou ! I live in the first one, work in the second one, and grew up in the third one !
  18. Event is only next week. More than enough time to get some training done !
  19. Don't think you will be getting any mud. As stated already, lots of rocks. ^^^ would make me more nervous. That XCO course is technical. Rode it on Saturday. Please make sure he is familiar with those rocky drops before the event.
  20. There is a recommended packing list on the website. This is an extensive list, in in my view a bit of overkill. In my experience you will pack much more than you need in your first year.
  21. Thanks. Wind does not seem to be a factor at this stage. 7km/h from the east. Lets hope it stays that way. Chainring is 42, so there will definitely be some walking involved. Can go to 36, but I am thinking that the 42 would be better for everything else.(other than the steep climbs)
  22. We are a little concerned about the weather, but I guess if it does not rain much in the next week we should be okay. Planning this for 7 March. We will probably make the call closer to the time. Heard this road is a nightmare when wet.
  23. Has someone done this ride in both directions ? If so which direction would you consider "easier" ? Some of us planning to ride from Nottingham side to Himeville (Just a fun ride), and looking at the profile this direction seems easier, maybe only due to the long climb being from the other side. Would a 1x set up with a large chainring and 11-46 at the back get a weekend warrior up the climbs from that side ?
