  6. AI Overview The Maxxis Ikon is an all-around cross-country (XC) tire for dry, hardpack conditions, offering good all-around grip and low rolling resistance, making it a versatile option for either front or rear use. The Maxxis Rekon Race is a faster, semi-slick tire with a shallower tread pattern, designed for speed and minimal rolling resistance, making it best suited as a rear tire, especially in dry, fast conditions. Choose the Ikon for reliable grip on varied terrain and the Rekon Race for maximum speed and efficiency in pure dry conditions. Maxxis Ikon Best for: All-around XC riding in dry conditions, including hardpack and loose ground. Tread: Features a more traditional, well-spaced tread pattern with knobs designed for balanced grip and low rolling resistance. Performance: Offers predictable handling and reliable grip, making it a solid choice for both front and rear wheels. Best use: A versatile tire that performs well in a wide range of conditions, from trails to racing. Maxxis Rekon Race Best for: Dry, fast-rolling conditions, and competitive XC racing. Tread: A semi-slick design with a tight, ramped, and shallow center tread to minimize rolling resistance. Performance: Extremely fast-rolling, but with less aggressive cornering knobs than the regular Rekon, though still surprisingly capable. Best use: Ideally suited for the rear wheel to maximize speed, though some riders use it on the front in dry, fast environments. Key Differences Tread Profile: The Rekon Race has a lower, more tightly packed tread for speed, while the Ikon has a more open and slightly taller tread for better all-around grip. Purpose: The Ikon is a versatile XC tire, whereas the Rekon Race is specialized for speed and efficiency in ideal dry conditions. Rolling Resistance: The Rekon Race is designed to be faster-rolling due to its shallower tread. Grip: The Ikon provides more predictable and balanced grip across different conditions, while the Rekon Race prioritizes speed over maximum cornering grip.

  14. Squirt Performance Hot Wax is effective for at least 230 to 270 kilometres. In road racing conditions, that figure increases significantly to 800 to 1000 kilometres.
  15. I think Squirt is being more Realistic 👍 For Road Cycling that is. If you ride a Muddy / Dusty MTB Track you have to wax every ride.

  22. I wish to Correct my Mistake. The Gen 1 Does not Have UDH . (2019 Model Year) The Gen 2 Does Have UDH. (August 2025 Model Year) The Bike I looked at must have been a GEN 1.
  23. Hi, We check with Cliff Beckett, our head designer: "No, no current frames are UDH ready. The Cypher looks like it will fit UDH, but it won't. The idea for the hanger on the Cypher is similar in that it coaxially mounts to the rear axle, for a more precise fit. In that respect, it's just like the UDH. But we designed the Cypher before SRAM released UDH to us in 2019."
  24. NAH Doesn't Have UDH Frame. Don't Like the Wheels. Got All that from the Spreadsheets. The Orbea is Looking Good Waiting for Stocks to come in. Will always Test Ride before Tapping the Plastic.
