  13. like my mom says a story or accident has three sides. our(cyclists) side, their(motorists) side and the truth.... If you see a cyclist running a red robot or dissobying basic traffic rules give him/her a P@#S Klap coz it makes motorists angry and they might not know that they were the cause of frustration and lack of concerne to cyclist that gets a fellow cyclist killed in the end. ag nee man
  14. Tyre Choice? was thinking of Killer Bee's is size 2.4 for added volume? if they fit my frame other wise a 2.0 on the rear
  15. This will be my first Desert Dash and doing it solo. I have done my first TB when I was 17 and the 2nd TB(Trans Baviaans) last year age 19. both times we made it in the top 50 but all results aside. I have a few questions I hope some of you might help me with. 1. Training: How many hours is enough? I want to do this thing properly and will be building with the 100miler, Trans Baviaans, Double Century and then the DD. I don't want to overdo it between the races. 2. Nutrition? I am using perpeteum and 32Gi at the moment. Will ride with that and a camelback in the DD, however i see the checkpoints are not far apart so is a camelback really work the weight? And is there any other nutrition tips? 3. Spares: What spares to carry other than the usual? I normally have a multitool, tube, bomb, goldlinks and a packet of crucial bolts and a spare cleat. What spares must be with my support? Any other info will also be very much appreciated. Reason for all the questions is that i see there was only one under 23 rider that entered solo last year and didnt finish.... I am doing the event @ age 21 and 1 month young and not so wise.. Thanks Francois
  16. and where do i find 90 gear oil? will that stop my wheel tyrning into a fixie?
  17. preload not a problem at speed it becomes a fixi. not cool
  18. My mavic slr freehub needs a bit of tlc and i want to know witch grease to use? the grease in the engagement part not the bearings..
  19. i think where this is going for the guys upgrading bit by bit. buy a frame first, then the fork and lastly the wheels. in that order everything will work. you might look like a dork for a month or 2 but everything will work.
  20. dont know if you know but the stock still have to arrive. im still fighting to get one on preorder...
  21. not to poop on anybodys party but wouldnt it be better to compare the xtx 29'er with a hardtail and not a fully? im on the xtc advanced and the anthem advanced and i do agree the fully is faster on a lot more terain but for flat racing nothing beats a hardtail. when i go to tokai it is the anthem that goes but for i.e. the karoo to coast or transbaviaans it is the hardtail. im looking at the momsen because i will be doing the desert dash at the end of the year and i persnally think a hardtail 29'er will be the best bike suited. just my 2c
