  1. That would be Ideal .. I don't like riding with analog riders ... they slow the uphill-flow and make things un-intresting and boring and listening to them talk about FTP's and 8% body fat the whole time is exhausting.😚 At the moment there are no eBike specific events, but once those evil Ebikers get enough footprint, so that a ebike only event can be supported, I am sure they will start popping up.. I personally can't wait. So until then ill have to slum it with the 1900's folk
  2. Was it like a turbo walk mode ? the assistance should stop when you stop peddling ? I know the bikes have a short overrun when you stop peddling ..but that bike sounds possessed ... suggest you take it a priest. Hope they sort it out , first time I have heard of this. I suppose when they pumping out such high numbers there is bound to be an evil lemon in the production line. Hope she is ok. Scary .
  3. I say turbo mode every where ... all the time
  4. Those camera riders are also on bikes that have been de-restricted. There is no way a ebike will keep up on the flats when they doing 40km/h.
  5. I disagree.... I hate hills. Im all for the downs. So I get no exhilaration climbing up a hill... in fact, if there was lift access I'd take it. Climbing sucks, pure and simple ... unless I'm on my Bike ... then I love it
  6. So its the Non ebikers who were cheating then ? not the ebikers since the non bikers know its not legal to draft a ebiker ...Ban all analog riders I say.
  7. Ok ..got a response from the organizer " "I feel your frustration. Unfortunately, it is no longer possible to affiliate an event with PPA and all events now must affiliate with CSA to obtain the necessary police and municipal approvals and to comply to the Covid emergency regulations. If you do more events per year, it is better to become a CSA member @ R250 per year. Hopefully we will one day put Covid behind us, but I think CSA affiliation is here to stay."
  8. It was never required in the past .. this is the first year that it has been needed for the event. So my understanding is that any organized ride needs a license ?
  9. The last 7 Houwhoek tours I have done, there has never been a need for a CSA License. This year you need a temporary license to ride the event? What value does CSA add to the event as its not considered a race but a ride ? very curious about this.
  10. Yea, when I first started out I wanted to power up everything, only to realize that coming hot into switchbacks is a sure way to end up on the side of the trail ... takes a few rides and once the novelty wears off its back to riding normal speed up and down ... only difference I can now do it multiple times.
  11. Seriously considering trading my Full fat in for a SL ... I struggle to do trials on the full fat ... gettiing up on the back wheel is easy enough, but then peddle kicking over stumps and rocks is where they weight really messes me up. I suspect a SL will be easier.
  12. I think the SL is the way to go... or even the rize . I spend most of my riding in eco and trail... which is where the sl would fit right in.
  13. How about dopers on ebikes ?
  14. 3:50 is pushing it for a ebike with a speed limit. and no battery will last at the pace you need to ride to get a 3:50 . even at a 32km/h cut off you cant maintain that speed for very long. (Unless the bike is chipped and you have 3 battery's in your bag (but then you in the same league as dopers so its a mute point) - And if thy do beat a 3:50 they will be disqualified... so why is it any issue to you ? unless you trolling.
  15. Ok, on a serious note. As a liberal koolaid drinking ebiker who will never go back to the dark ages. I fully believe that ebikers belong on strava .... BUT They belong in there own category (which strava has) And as ebiker i want to see my efforts against other ebikers. not push bikes . (cause in some areas there is no way a ebike can keep up with a pushbike) and i want to be able to see my progress against myself on the trails that I ride, that are as technical as **** to see if my Trials lessons are paying off. Strava is also a fantastic tool when paired with a app like MainTrack that allows me to track the hours ridden for Fork and shock servicing and chain rotation. So Yes ... ebikers belong on strava, in there own group, with likeminded liberal riders.
  16. I hate normal analog bikers posting there rides on strava in the ebike section ... they taking all my KOM's cause I can only go 32km/h on the flats. They even crushing me on the downs cause i cant pedal over 32km/h without the feeling that im riding in mud.
  17. You need slower mates ..... Mine are slow and only really get going after 2 beers. In fact there is no way i can even convince them to ride down the glen with me (pre glen fixup) until they have had a few beers at the lawns....
  18. Perfectly crisp electronic shifting is a unfair advantage , especially shifting under power .... it should be banned.
  19. Mud sucks on any bike .... My XC race bike has terrible mud clearance. Would also stop regardless of the bike. but it is worse on a ebike
  20. haha, cant wait to do that on my ebike .... with battery swaps
  21. I think the only way to settle this argument is to have separate races on separate days .. and to make sure no ones egos are hurt we will have to separate all categories. So it will be a week of cycle tour. as you cant have u23 racing with vets, or even men and women in the same race. as someone's ego will get bruised. Also we will have to split the expensive bikes from the not so expensive bikes (How dare a 12k pass me) and at the end of the week all the ebikers can ride together ... Old, young, poor, rich, fit, not so fit, fat, skinny ... cause they don't give a **** and just want to have some fun on such a awesome route.
  22. Mmmm i think you right ... could be why I struggle over the 32km limit. TT bars ..... Watch this space.
  23. Strava has a separate leader board for Ebikers .... Flag his rides and they will get deleted if he is not loading them as such.
  24. He has shaved legs and wearing lycra and does not have a peak... he identifies as a roadie.
