  1. That's a massive chainring for a ebike ...and looks like a battery extender ... that bike has been chipped . and lycra on a ebike 😣 That guy looks like he is in his 70's .... ebikes , the great equalizer .... love it
  2. We going off topic ... Should ebikers be allowed in the cycle tour ?
  3. As well as those Nandralone, EPO loving guys in 1A
  4. That bike must be derestriced ... so its not fair play ... I can show you a picture of the starting line of the tour de france ... i can assure you 1/2 of them are not playing fair either ... and most likely the Cycle Tour is South Africa's cycling history is anything to go by.
  5. I can go show you some technical climbs that would be a absolute achievement ... even on a ebike. Look at the E-EWS ... what those racer need to do on a ebike is a massive achievement ...
  6. I agree, thats a no-go its easy to point those riders out and ban them (not to add that it is against the law to de restrict a pedal assist ) well in europe that is. There will always be cheaters ... mechanical or medical doping... easier to spot the mechanical ones though.
  7. So he came first in his ebike category ... Must be a road Ebike ...those things are fast ... but still in a different category. Must be a good rider to be in 1A ... but wont be able to claim any prize money and will still be in the ebike classification.
  8. I appreciate that , even with 3 or 4 batteries there is no way a ebiker on a MTB could win unless the bike was derestricted. and then they would pick it up. you literally cant pedal past 32km/h and would not be able to keep that 32 mark for very long .... If you doubt that come, take my bike for a spin All they would win is the ebike catergory ... and to be honest no one really cares about that.
  9. You need to be Lance Armstrong fit with the extra medial performance kit to pedal past the motor cut off for long periods of time... And yes it is silly cause the legal cut off for South Africa is 32 and not 25 ... 25 is for europe. but even trying to stay at that cutoff point the whole ride is almost impossible. (well for me that it)
  10. Thank you for this .... now those of you with sensitive egos don't need to break down when you get passed buy a ebike. yes I have a extra 250W .... and no, im not racing against you.
  11. there is no diluting the spirit of fair competitions when everyone is in there own group category. Ebikers in one group and u23 in another ect. Unfair advantage would be those with big pockets racing 7kg bikes against those who can only afford a 15kg department store bike as there are no categories to distinguish the rich form the poor. I think that is a bigger "diluting the spirit of fair competition" than having ebikers in there own category which they already are. ok..im trolling now.. time to leave.
  12. From the few pages that i have read, no one disagrees with that. all the events i have entered bikers are there own category. and start at the back.
  13. I dont have problem with that... and never said i did. (most events have ebikers at the back,) Even when we ride as a group on weekends the general rules is ebikers at the back until we get to a downhill, then the pecking order changes according to skill levels) The thread is about allowing ebike in the event.
  14. when the motor is on ... the fun factor outweighs the time when its off.
  15. Casue i have more fun on my ebike. Bigger tires.... 180mm suspension .. like a monster truck ..... I can plough over dropped water bottles and gel wrappers you racing folk love throwing all over the place.
  16. Kudos to your wife..... There is no ways I can make a my battery last 100km without riding with motor turned off for some time. Most iIcan get out a of a single charge is 70km and thats in a low low setting where im just keeping up with legacy bikes (Im big boned)
  17. I find it amusing that people in this forum, and people in general think Ebikes ride everywhere in Turbo all the time... Any event over 30km and you have carefully manage your battery, most of the time riding in a setting that just overcomes the extra weight of the bike. And hope you have enough left for the end stages. My ave and peak HR are very similar to when I'm on a ebike vs a legacy bike. Yes there are those few lucky people that will have multiple batteries, (they will be few) but do you really want to carry a 2 kilo battery in a rucksack And I highly doubt that the ladies and gents riding for fun will have multiple batteries. My Cycle tour times have been faster on my road bike than my ebike ..... so why ride the ebike you ask ? because I have more fun on it. And Im all about the fun now.
  18. you must have very rich friends who can afford 3 batteries .... Afraid the majority only have the 1 and have to make it last.
  19. try riding at the back of the pack and you see
  20. Every "race" i have done .. including a few enduro races, ebikes have always had there own category. You are racing against other ebikers...
  21. If you discount the amount of people who enter these "races" to have a good time and get out there, I'm afraid soon you wont have any races to go to as only a small % of people are actually racing ...
  22. Its only a race if you racing ... if you having fun and don't give a **** about time, then what ? you should not be allowed to enter cause you not a strava chaser ?
  23. Ok...lets really get those haters pissed off... All this time we were speaking about MTB ebikers ? (Roadies do love to hate on MTB'ers) But what about the road Ebikers ? do they not have a speed limit of 45km? That should really piss off a lot of people. and go .....
