  1. ASG. BUT... make sure you know beforehand exactly what you need. I ordered hub conversion kits through a cycle store, waited 6+ weeks only to be told it doesn't fit centre lock. And no one at either the shop or ASG knew or advised me. Got a refund, so was fine. Just do your own homework.
  2. What now with all this Enduro business going on? All websites will come to a stand still come Monday.
  3. Maybe Specialized is launching 650b and needs some marketing hype before it drops for Christmas.
  4. Is it okay to assume that the OP won't be coming back here anymore as all the replies are not worth replying on anymore. What happens if it's not okay?
  5. The mud down there is hectic. And I can not afford to fix parts right now. It will definitely need it after two days of rain.
  6. I'm crying big baby tears. Looks like the weather is turning very sour. It's just going to up the cost from R2k to 3-4k.
  7. Going to Kings in the morning. Thought about there as well. Just the issue of the short descents. Didn't think about flipping them though, that could definitely work. The Enduro format does seem like short intense bursts. 3-5km max (under correction), although there are the European legs that have the epics built into them eg, Megavalanche etc. I think that is where Mankele got their initial idea from, where the stages are 15-20 mins for the top guys, and have a fair amount of climbing. Ideally I reckon we need to convince land owners to build into the side of the ridge lines along the magalies etc, and develop a long point to point drop with multi switchbacks, that should create a good flow and have tons of length, but will take a good while to develop.
  8. To anyone that's ridden this course. Do you guys reckon a full face is needed or is that a bit too much? I've been to Cascades and it's NOT the Spruit. Did Mankele sans one and it was fine, but not sure how the trails are going to be for the 27th. Thanks!
  9. Karkloof. Went there during the Worlds weekend. I only did the 30k and it's amazing.
  10. +1 I have the Trail King 2.2 up front. Plenty of times when I thought this is it, but a little under steer and back you go. The 2.2 is massive compared to even the MK 2.4. Running a relatively worn out Nevegal 2.1 at the back and it's fine. Just fine
  11. Snapped this pic of him at the World's with my mega pixeled phone as he came through the Bomb Hole. He is super quick even though he didn't think so! Well done for yesterday.
  12. Condolences to the family. RIP
  13. This sums it up. ( Somewhere in Germany I think)
  14. Sorry!!
  15. That little bump gave me one of the hardest falls of my life. I drifted left towards those trees and yanked the front brake mid air. Eina. 9 months later my shoulder still aches!
  16. Read that last night as well and completely agree. If you can't ride it, get off until you can. It's safer for you and it will give you an incentive to get better. @ the nerd. I ride Rietvlei, not often, but 2-3 times every couple of months. Yesterday was my first time back in a while and I decided to put my flat pedals on for a change. To put it simple, I got my ass kicked by those rocks on the blue trails. What I could've ridden with my clip-ins a while ago, seemed near impossible yesterday. Now this is NOT the trails fault. It's a eye opener to actually see what your skills are really sitting at. I will say that it did become unpleasant after a while, but I can whine or get on and do another round. If people feel the need to flatten these surfaces out, then they should really start somewhere that challenges their own skills, not ruin it for others because of their own technical inability. Listening to people at the Worlds that just past, there seems to be a lack of technical focus in our country as we are more marathon orientated. Even in Johannesburg we have major technical routes, so there really is no excuse to not get on your bike and give it a go.Yes, it will get frustrating and your average speed will be 10km/h, but what does it matter. You will come back next time and clean that section and be mega proud, and be able to apply that to your next blindingly fast marathon when there's a bit of a rocky section. Not everyone is hard as nails, but then there are psychos out there as well, so each to their own and let the trail dictate where you fit into that spectrum. Don't go cut out roots because it upsets you. Ride faster fall harder.
  17. Anymore info on this. We were out riding Sunday morning and a group of blokes were trying to fish the bastard out. Apparently he struck again somewhere else in the gardens. Fortunately the guy who hit everyone on William Nicol got nabbed and sentenced.
  18. Darwin Awards
  19. Any details would be great. According to the poster, that corner is the top forest next to Marks Parks. Been riding there for over two years and I have never seen a suspicious character in that specific section. Strange indeed. What time did he go ride?
  20. Dude exactly!! We rode there on Sunday morning and I saw the same thing. Idiots. I really just hope it wasn't a group of riders upset at some roots. That section just added a touch of fun.
  21. His face in the interview was epic! So so stoked that he got that! Well done Smithie!
  22. Was it the drink first and then the bat, or the other way around?
  23. How was the ride???
  24. Anyone that did the Avalanche going down for this?
  25. Awesome thanks guys. Just got work in so will only be able to make it on Thursday if I can. Otherwise going to try make the enduro race on Saturday at the Cascades.
