  1. That was always going to be the case with such a huge commercial interest. It's not new, we've done advertorial across the board in media. Content creators have been devalued to such an extent that is part of the trade off to live with. At least RBMH employ/pay said creators at an equitable rate. And ultimately rescued the sport from a dismal downturn in audience numbers, globally. I'd say they broadened the reach of the sport thanks to their streaming platform, which by default also extended the inclusivity. They make plenty margin on the rights allocations. The UCI's mistake is in the lack of continuity at World Champ events as an entirely separate operation. Lets hope they get it right with Discovery and grow the environment. Theres a good setup and valuable audience being delivered by the UCI, thanks to RBMH.
  2. Some big big shoes to fill, RBMH have set a high standard not just on the production and streaming of World Cup races, but also in the general story telling. There is so much peripheral content that they've produced, as well as the post race pressers put into media distribution. It'll be interesting to see if Discovery keep to this through GMBN (free stream etc) as well as providing a to wider general audience on traditional broadcast, which is likely where they'll make up on subscriber revenue. For SA it's unlikely to be much change as far as DSTV goes. Nothing has been signed as yet, so it's all academic until then anyway.
  3. Must have watched a different clip. He shoved, then threw a tantrum at the rider. His ott reaction put everyone else at risk. That's the extreme opposite of maybe too hard a push.
  4. If you're talking about the package on offer from Sportograf, it is pretty damn good. Their stuff is above average for sure, probably some of the hardest workers in the media camp. Which is saying a lot!
  5. Perhaps for riders not fit enough, but for mechanicals no drop is a none negotiable. At least in my experience and as communicated by the admins. I do also like the fact that with new riders an ICG regular needs to introduce and ride with them the first few rides at least.
  6. Enduro World Series
  7. The bane of every wheel builder.
  8. Screw POP .... the only time anything goes is when I see the funds clear in MY account. Go suck your POP.
  9. Yes thanks, aware of that. But there is no restriction that doesn't allow sharing of RRP/SRP.
  10. Not true, they can't prescribe retail pricing. RRP/SRP (Reccomended or Suggested Retail Pricing) are an entirely different thing altogether, by definition they aren't prescriptive. RRP/SRP is a standard across numerous industries.
  11. There is no such thing. Unless you get a screen dump from Cape Cycles themselves. Which is unlikely since such a list will be out of date within weeks. Besides, as per the CEO’s comments. Even though SRAM have more product on their shelves than their entire history. Stock levels are constantly in flux as they compete for shipping. Consequently this affects pricing.
  12. Discovering new cityscape angles...
  13. Long gone, more keen on what happens come the 18th. Contracting a pro trail builder may be worthwhile, but there's nothing to say they haven't already. A lot of increased traffic to contend with.
  14. We're in rain season with particularly heavy rainfall, the area has always had mud issues as that's the nature of the water table. Fair to say that the surrounding development could be having a compounding effect here as well Taroko have outlined their plans going forward, it's also not uncommon to close trails for a period. Personally have felt they've been far more proactive than the previous crowd with trail management. Along with comms, trails, opening up new sections and building up the clubhouse/shop.
  15. https://www.dailymaverick.co.za/article/2022-02-13-guns-and-needles-by-clinton-van-der-berg-even-the-world-famous-comrades-ultra-marathon-couldnt-avoid-the-doping-cloud/
  16. Another the vote for the Sawtooth tyres. Good Year do a decent multiuse tyre as well and Benky Rides bring in the Donnelly brand which looks good and is well priced. One of my favourite all rounders is the Kenda Flintridge Pro. Good volume at 40c and the tread pattern has a centre ridge for fast rolling. Works well in most gravel conditions.
  17. Not enough focus on the systematic programmes in place. What about the doctors, coaches, administrators etc? SAIDS are the local organisation, they’re at most events. And they do actually have a published list online of doping cases, which has been referenced numerous times on this thread. You can see the offence, the sanction of there is and download the entire pdf of the hearing case files.
  18. Not at all, simply called out the unnecessary behaviour in your response. So don’t suddenly cop feelings when called out on it. It’s entirely disingenuous. We are done here.
  19. No, I never made that reasoning at all, you did. I specifically mentioned PEDs and we're discussing in the context of children playing school sports. Not adults consulting a GP, even then they will prescribe within certain parameters. Do not make the mistake of prescribing to me in broad strokes what I think is or isn't healthy.
  20. That's a completely false equivocation. There is a reason PEDs like other substances are not permitted, especially among school sports with still developing children. Because under medical science's best practice these aren't deemed healthy in the long term.
  21. Actually that is very flawed statement, the key part being "proper supervision" compounded by the lack of properly sourced peds, many of which shouldn't actually be used by still developing children. Prof Tucker has gone over this in detail before. And no, it isn't laughable at all.
  22. Glad you're so easily amused.
  23. The penalties should be criminal charges.
  24. Alloy hardtail, carbon at a stretch if looking second hand. For the budget you’re very unlikely to find something full suss in 29r in good nick and/or up to date. Servicing could quickly ramp up costs.
  25. Training for Epic? ... 🤭
