  1. Yeah, credit where credit is due. Heard good things, a little bit of mixed feelings with traffic. But all round a safe experience. Good job. Also was the Joburg Marathon in Randburg/Parks area yesterday and it was pleasant to ride through the quiet streets enroute to Spruit. Thinking that with the post lockdown increase in outdoor activities, people are far more amenable and understanding.
  2. It’s disingenuous to suggest, even with sarcasm that one doesn’t dope because they’re under age. But the fact is that they’re a minor and the sporting code of protection is supposed to enable a safety net for this. There’s a broader issue at play that requires focus than just the athlete in question. It also highlights the general problem with anti-doping, and much of the discourse. Refer back to Bonnie Ford and Ross Tucker commentary.
  3. Meaning David George and Kevin Evans? As much as they’re central to those businesses, those businesses do also put back into cycling and employ a number of people. Not sure that carries the best example. It’s one of those things that people must make their own individual peace with. As long as they’re not involved with the administration of the sport. But then this does go back to the post with Bonnie Ford’s assessment. People actually don’t give a ****, even (especially?) so called anti-doping pundits.

  5. And this, so on point, and very much relevant to this thread.
  6. Professor Tucker nails it.
  7. Take a look at Sochi and Brazil Olympics. Even here with SWC 2010, Fifa undermined a lot of legislation and are well known for their nepotism, inbound/outbound tourism operations for example. Kind of funny how our own locals outdid them though, Tourvest put on an exceptional operation, against the odds.
  8. What are the start times?
  9. It's a press release, provided for free and accessed for free. Plus it's still early in the year to have an up to date co-ordinated image bank of new riders and coordinate content in time for deadlines. The write up is complete and contextually up to date with appropriate visuals.
  10. Have some friends who are doing this, I wont lie, I am a bit concerned. Even if the safety is not an issue I don't see how it will be an enjoyable ride with all the disruption. These are already congested sections amongst high density residential areas. A lesson that was hard learnt at the ToSA. Hopefully we see a successful day however, but I do think there are a number of factors that the press release under estimate.
  11. Our general relationship and attitude towards alcohol consumption is no different towards being behind a steering wheel. When the two come together, disaster. But, we're our own worst enemy when riding.
  12. Saw the IPID case report, from what I gather it may have been some poor oke commuting to his place of work and they've yet to establish his ID.
  13. This isn't a we and them thing, it's a behavioural issue and that's all your severely anecdotal observations brings. It's also distraction from actual thread at hand.
  14. Clearly a breakdown on expectations. Depends on how far you want to take the issue and what overall impact you expect to make on a broader consumer level. If you take them on legally, then it will set a precedent going forward. Win or lose. Consumer legal consultation may advise. Alternatively lodge with the CPA, although there is the backlog to take into consideration.
  15. Who knows, no doubt more info materialises as the investigation and trial roll out.
  16. I’ve a feeling that you know absolutely that is in no way what the post alluded to. Come on man.
  17. Training camp last week. Karkloof/Howick ... the spiritual home of MTB/Groad
  18. Last I remember is a postal address in Bellville? Wouldn’t you be able to contact Ciska or Kandice directly to assist? I know they and a few others are based in CT.
  19. There’s a Gauteng Cycling gravity group, check with CGC/Gauteng Cycling on FB
  20. A few people had reported it, including the social profiles along with the local cell number for investigation. Know of at least one brand that has taken it up formally.
  21. Iron Throne is right there and should be open
  22. Pretty much this. And every other observation posted here. Dodge AF with stolen images and highly dubious claims. Red flags for days.

  24. The stuff is good, and the few items I own have outlasted a lot of other kit. By and large the pricing is completely out of my range though. It’s not something to begrudge them over, we’re spoilt for choices with kit.
