  1. Perhaps your query on the invoice format should be directed to the shop then? Or are you directly saying that the OP purposely created a fake/false invoice? Subsequently all the correspondence he's reffered to with ASG/Pinarello is also fake? Yes or no.
  2. Some brands (albeit very few) sell with pedals, almost always a set of non-series/Deore Shimano. Some people replace these with another brand and system, their existing pedals or upgrade and keep the OEMs as spare. Think for most brands though they reckon it's something the buyer will spec themselves nowadays.
  3. Once saw partial ARs for airtime slots on broadcast channels across networks for advertising around TdF .... billions tied up in that event.
  4. I agree with you in principal. But it must be robust and 100% reliable with some kind of failsafe, even in the near future it can only realistically form a part of the total production framework, at great expense. There is potential and stuff like that will come, but it's just not quite there, yet.
  5. I've worked on film before, co-owned a stills/filming agency working with broadcast. The theory is sound, but for broadcast it doesn't work, it's been looked at by all the top production houses, locally and internationally for feasibility and it's prohibitive. Maybe in the future, but currently no. Using solar for a full network system is high risk and unreliable, especially in the that terrain and climate fluc. No DoP/producer in their right mind would apply that infrastructure. There is absolutely no way every pro can be made to ride with a rig either, no matter the weight. Big big difference between integrating into a broadcast and high end production to what social media FB and Google do. The penaltys are a lot higher as well if the feed fails.
  6. Have you tried live streaming mobile? It would be great, but it's nigh impossible on broadcast or streaming quality, even Dakar can't get it 100s. Battery life would be limited and who is going to ride with a full power pack and camera at an extra 5-10kg? The WiFi alone would have to be huge bandwidth alone, not just a hotspot.
  7. Marry her, if she says no, take the bike as compensation. Roll like that yo!
  8. They do, but not in rural mountain ranges over a large distance. Most of the stuff is from static zones, not roaming cameramen.
  9. We used one with a full frame Canon 5D for a shoot. Talk about tech porn .... big big $$ though
  10. Absolutely, IP will be the future one way or another! ... SA has missed the deadline a couple of times to switch to DTT from analogue. As internet opens up, the appetite is going to put broadcasters on the back foot, it'll open up experiences for viewers and provide organisations like Epic bigger opportunities. Win win.
  11. Exactly, and it's the pretty much the same challenges wether you live feed to the net or broadcast. So we're saying the same thing.
  12. Wether it's streamed or used on broadcast makes no difference. You still face the same issues, web streaming is still unreliable and a higher compression compared to a broadcast feed. Yes, but the visuals you can use are limited and vastly different, plus they need to be incorporated into existing footage. Using them within a broadcast framework is a world apart from doing it on the side.
  13. Because it is. Name one MTB event in the world with the same number of live broadcasts and same day highlights packages over the course of a week? There isn't one. Even the XCO world cups have productions issue, and that is an easier setup logistically. Commentary could improve, but overall it's consistent and clear.
  14. Yet the Epic is leading in terms of broadcasting, why do other production/broadcast houses ask the crew for info on how the Epic is shot, edited and broadcast. To broadcast live from that kind of terrain is a logistical and technical nightmare, so to do that, who will pay the millions needed?
  15. Actually this whole lodging a protest thing is only partly true, the commisaire can also apply their discretion. There doesn't have to be an appeal for action to be taken, but if there is a protest, it must be within a certain timeframe. The protest or action taken by a commisaire can be appealed. Once done is done though, whatever the decision is. It's time to move on and make the best of it.
  16. Off topic ... but farkit I have a softness for stark black and white portraiture. This is part of a series of some the greatest work I've admired.
  17. Actually, Alex Harris deemed it hardcore and said it's completely different to Freedom Challenge. The gist was though that both events are so different in nature they can't be compared, although in their respective natures they're both "hardcore" So yes, it's all relative.
  18. Apparently was held up by some Outcast riders on singletrack and had to get around them.
  19. Are you the oke who hit the pylons on the weekend? .... Some walkers found your Landy key.
  20. Flashbacks of a certain Epic with KE, latex tubes, carbon rims .... bam
  21. Most likely a latex tube, they're that colour. Ai yi yai ,,,,
  22. I've got, R800 for the lot plus some tyres. In fact I've got a pair of new(ish) conti city tyres I'll throw in as well.
