  1. CSA don't do the test, nor do they facilitate the process. SAIDS do, and if there's a positive in the test, they inform the relevant sporting federation. In this case, CSA. The paperwork is in triplicate, one for SAIDS, the sporting federation, the athlete and fourth with details blanked out other than the sample serial numbers. That accompanies the samples that go to the lab.
  2. Kings Kloof Thaba, in a mini enduro format perhaps. Van Gaalens along with Hakahana could make for one hell of an Enduro.
  3. Was there the other day and didn't really have any issues with the state of the trails. You do realise that the terrain is generally rocky by nature. Unless you're referring to specific sections? As far as I can see theres some maintenance being done. My feeling when it comes to riding through agricultural or forestation area, is that we are primarily paying for access in an areas that we normally wouldn't. As such that often the forestation/agricultural needs play a more important role than trail maintenance. So if there's a dip in maintenance I understand that, and am just to happy to be fortunate to be enjoying something that really costs a nominal amount.
  4. Crisis, again. Try to understand something, it's a mentality all road users have. Have seen this on the way to running events, road races, mtb whichever .... People are knobs on the road, full stop. All you can do is look to yourself.
  5. Is there a tech zone there? ... Also consider that it may have been 'lifted' by a mechie looking for/needing that part.
  6. Had all the elements for tough day in the saddle and the very real issue of hydration. Hot, dry, dusty and windy. Stellar performance by Johnlee Augstyn! As usual, great organisation and vibe Apparently the Elite Women prize money was reduced for another category, not on at all!
  7. No. What applies a few years ago doesn't apply now. When you ship in bulk (especially paper) your transport and distribution costs increase exponentially. The same applies if people from overseas subscribe to a local magazine. Anyhow that's all besides the point of the topic. R800 for a seat clamp .... FFS!
  8. What clever okies in the land of the rising sun....
  9. Hairspray works a charm. Simple, straightforward no fuss. If you need to get the grips off after, a squirt of water and some elbow grease.
  10. On twitter Andrew also ventured a guess that they got the feeling CSA was leaning towards Cookson.
  11. Yeah I have to say, Epic Pro and the BCAA Vitago work best for me. Especially Epic Pro over long sustained training periods. That aside though unless it's for a specific race or event I tend to use supplements sparingly, a tub of both lasts me anything from 3-8 months. The only thing I use daily is Glutamine/Creatine. With the processing and genetic manipulation of food these days, I honestly don't think we get what we should be from the 'right diet' That's my personal view and take on it, each of us have different physiology and nutritional needs. The key thing here though is that supplements are just that, supplements. FYI - No supplement brand/manufacturer can 100% lay claim to being safer or purer etc .... unless they have an "Informed Sport" certification or such like. Even then, because that's so cost prohibitive many brands only have that on some products in their range. Ignore the marketing bumpf of xyz percentage gain.
  12. It's this simple, if a group happens to be in a bunch in the wee hours. Riders at the back act as look out and yell car back, indicating for the bunch to move into a single or at least close in to let a car/traffic pass. A driver just needs to give a little hoot to alert the group so as to pass. Not lean on the hooter for 5 seconds. Sadly, most of the time neither of these happen, the first action and reaction is aggression.
  13. Absolutely nothing wrong with the Titan. Nice build at a good price, many happy miles on it ... You worked for it, you earned it. Really doesn't matter what you ride as long as you're enjoying the ride.
  14. Sums up my feelings. Then a certain medical/insurance company had that other one Hamilton in SA. Dinners and rides were being marketed, with tickets up for grabs putting him on a pedastal. I say vok hom, and the sponsors that brought him out here. I will never entertain a policy from that co again.
  15. A court of law, grief. Already that indicates a cultural problem of avoiding responsibility to one's self. What would your suggestion be then, what more could be done? Given that the event has been running for a number of years now and the route description in itself is widely known, it's safe to say that more than enough reasonable measures have been taken. Newbies or not, at what point do grown adults take responsibility for themselves and do just the basics of informing themselves before an event? It's an outdoors/adventure sport, by it's very nature it the ultimate responsibility rests on the individual.
  16. If only it were that simple. It's a complex issue and a lot of the responsibility for the vagrants is the very people and businesses in the area exploiting these guys as indentured labour. As an example, some developers employ people at R60 a day, that doesn't cover taxi for most of them. So they squat on the Spruit and go home on weekends or once a month etc ....
  17. Soos hulle se .... meowzit
  18. This came up again today with someone else. If you do your research and ignore the emotive/monetary appeal, make up your own mind. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lyoness
  19. X01 is still ultimately XX1, the finishing is the real difference (eg: cassette) on parts and alloy instead of carbon on some areas. The retail difference will be marginal for consumers, the real benefit will be for OEM spec on built up bikes going into retail. The cranks are adopted from XO anyway. So If you already have XO cranks, you can convert to 1x11. Although the spider design wont allow you to use the smallest front chainring, 28. Theres already working models of a more wallet friendly 1x11 with alloy cranks etc, most likely to be X9 Plus companies like Race Face, Wolf and FSA have 1x11 front chainrings in the market place. By this time next year 1x11 groupsets will likely be mainstream as the barrier to entry drops. IE, **** will become more commonplace as more oem, retail and aftermarket **** will be manufactured.
  20. Well no, but he was definitely the first and most enthusiastic to adopt it. Reckon he's an activist at heart ...
  21. Might be wrong, but as great as the sentiment is, you may just have missed the tongue in cheek here.
  22. Ya absolutely! ... People like that needs a solid PK! ... Oh, wait doh ....
  23. Nope none of the bridges are. Which normally is fine in any society with common decency, unfortunately with more people using the Spruit theres more common than decency.
  24. Quite a range, Shimano is good value for cash and has more 'bite' for lack of a better phrase. Hope is more pricey, but has oodles of modulation in the race tech 2. The trail version of those are almost like brembos on a Ducati!
