  1. No, my tyre hasn't growled at me yet, so I guess it's time to deflate that sucker. I find that my rear end is sliding out long before the front goes (resulting in a spectacular meeting with a tree a few weekends ago), so I'm gonna drop it by a bit and see what happens. Nothing to lose?
  2. Hie hie. Ja, a friend of mine is running his tubeless Nevegal's at 2 bar at the back and he says the same. So I guess maybe add 0.2 bar for mine being non tubeless. Just looking for a bit more traction now in winter time when everything is wet and snotty.
  3. I'm running a 2.1 Nevegal (non UST) at the back of my AM bike. I'm running it tubeless, but I'm scared to run it at too low pressure. I weigh 90kg, what do you reckon a safe minimum pressure would be, considering it's being used for AM riding? And again remember it's not a tubeless tire, so sidewalls not very strong.
  4. Yup. The To Hell and Back in Day race always started in Prince Albert. A full 120km in out of Die Hel in one day... I've never been so relieved to see a town again. But ja, magical place.
  5. Ja, doesn't really matter how quickly you're going, as long as you look good, while standing still.
  6. Excellent. Thx.
  7. Cool thx. One would think that a groupset would work better than mixing components, but maybe not so.
  8. Just a quick question. If you put a mix of Shimano and SRAM components on your bike e.g. XTR m980 crankset/front derailleur and SRAM XO shifters/rear derailleur , would that have any negative impact on your shifting? In other words is it better for shifting if you have a groupset, rather than mixing between brands?
  9. Hmmm... definately not "unbreakable". A friend of mine cracked his frame after a few months of riding. But they are very cool bikes. I opted for a Morewood Zula instead after my friends mishap with his Blur. I still don't trust carbon frames when you're a heavier rider (i.e. me = 90kg).
  10. A few years ago I did the To Hell and Back in One day event (basically the normal To and Hell and Back, but just done in 1 day, instead of 2 days). There were about 50 of us riding it and the morning we were all standing on the rugby field talking k@k while waiting for the start. So when they eventually fired the gun to signal the start, everybody was still just standing there, not moving, still chatting away. So eventually after about 30 seconds, someone said: "Ag ok, lets go ride". What a cool way to start a "race"! I felt the spirit of mtbiking that day.
  11. Master Luke lost a planet he has...
  12. I have the new 2012 XT and they kick serious ass. One finger braking....er well two if you take left and right... ah F^%%^$ it, you know what I mean.
  13. Ha ha! Did I step on a toe perhaps? Dunno boet, I tried everything with my SID and just couldn't get it to perform the way I think a fork should feel. The Fox felt perfect from the first ride. But anyway, I guess it's up to preference. Enjoy your SID!
  14. Nope boet. That's the way a SID rides. Rock hard. I replaced mine with a Fox F120. Much softer ride.
  15. I've had the XX 2x10 for about a year now. I weigh about 90kg, so not the lightest rider. I think you either need to be a very strong or light rider for 2x10 to be effective for you. Seeing that I'm neither of those, and have been k@kking off for about a year now, i'm going back to 3 chainrings. I definately miss the granny gear on very steep climbs, of which their should be many if you're a serious mtbiker. A friend of mine who's finished 5 Epic's (and weighs 75kg) bought 2x10 and said it's fine for one day races, but definately not for stage racing (if you're an average rider). So ja, I think it really depends on how strong a rider you are.
  16. I've been trying to find 2.35 High Rollers for ages, but no one stocks them. Where can you get them?
  17. Sheesh, I've been putting off getting knee pads for way too long. Every fricken time I take a tumble my knees hit a rock or a root. A tradegy waiting to happen...
  18. I did that last weekend in Jonkers... just before my front wheel nipped a root and sent me flying into a tree and onto the rocks below the tree... Lesson for the day: never get too cocky on a mtbike.
  19. Hmmm...maybe try the Epic, Cape Pioneer, Attakwas etc. and go find out for yourself...
  20. Just use a protein shake (I use Evox) mixed with milk immediately after a tough ride. Also does the trick. If that doesn't help, maybe go for a good sport massage. But that becomes expensive, so maybe not an option.
  21. Ugh... I'm trying to understand the whole doping mentality. Doesn't it say something about you as a person from a moral/ethical point of view when you dope? Doesn't it bother them that you're not achieving your results on your own steam?
  22. Well ja, I hope you're right. As soon as you add big money to the mix, the doping will probably start there in all earnest as well. Just waiting for the first Epic doping case...
  23. Sheesh, why can't we just pump the wheels, lube the chain, fill the camelbak and go riding? All this V02 Max stuff is just too much for me. I must be the dumb one on The Hub...
  24. Thx boet. A buddy of mine has a spare 710mm Easton which I'm gonna give a bash over the week end. But many thx for the offer.
