  1. I got blue Dangerboy levers for my Juicy 7's at Mikes's Bikes. Looks awsome on my white bike.
  2. I must say the crash was spectacular!
  3. I give the Lobo a thmbs up! Have done 3 x Sabie Experience with mine and is perfect for this type of race. I use a Camelbak MULE for the Epic (I need a bit more packing space to actually take my lunch with.
  4. I know those rims won't do, but the are AWESOME!!!
  5. Did you see the Spank Subrosa rims at Mike's Bikes? http://www.sicklines.com/gallery/showphoto.php/photo/5591 Awesome!!!
  6. I've got 2 set's of mavic wheels, the xl and sl.I've done plenty multi day races on both (sl for this year's Epic) Havn't had any problems....yet. I am afraid of the the day that the problems actually start. The front wheel on the sl's (2007) still have some flex but have stood up to everything I've thrown at it. But....If I have to buy new wheels, I would get customs. The spokes on the Mavics are a problem. I do have spare spokes (at R25 a pop) but the problem starts the day that you don't have your spares with you. The spaokes are all diffirent lengths (drive / non-drive side). The spokes are also year/model specific. Spokes from 2006 sl's wil not be the same length than 2007 sl's. This will cause problems in the future as far a availibilty of spares are concerned. Regular wheels, with regular spokes will always be easier to fix. So.... I like my mavic wheels, but I would recommend to go custom.
  7. Anyone got a spare light I can borrow?

  10. Lefty Speed Carbon SL and Lefty Speed DLR 2 Forks FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Bethel, CT - Cannondale has voluntarily issued a Safety Recall Notice with the Consumer Product Safety Commission. The products affected include any 2007 and some 2008 mountain bikes equipped with either Lefty Speed Carbon SL or Lefty Speed DLR 2 forks. If your bike is equipped with one of these forks, stop riding the bike immediately and take it to your Cannondale dealer for required service. ?Rider Safety is of paramount importance to us,? says Chris Peck, Vice President, R&D at Cannondale. ?Anyone who owns one of these bikes should have it inspected by an authorized Cannondale dealer immediately. As a safety precaution, please have it inspected prior to your next ride.? Cannondale has learned of an error in the assembly process of these forks which may allow the telescope assembly of the fork to completely separate. ?The origin of the problem is an improper application of a thread locking compound to the damping cartridge. The result is that the lower half of the assembly could potentially unthread and slide out of the upper sleeve,? ?Riders should know that this is not a design flaw. This is an assembly error. Lefty product has been on our high performance mountain bikes for nearly a decade. It is race-proven at the World Cup level and has passed the highest testing standards in the industry when manufactured correctly,? says Peck. Cannondale dealers have been notified of the recall and have been equipped with the proper inspection and service procedures. Additionally, Cannondale has put additional CPSC approved, manufacturing quality control steps in place to ensure that future Lefty forks are built correctly prior to bicycle assembly. For information on specific bicycle models affected, the notice will be posted at www.cannondale.com or call the company at 1-800 BIKE USA in the US, or Europe +41 61 487 93 80 or email servicedeskeurope@cannondale.com source: Scott Struve, Cannondale.com < =>Attached Images>
  11. Bored girl, I'll join you guys for a ride again soon. Had some bad luck with my bike and some injuries. I havn't been to to train now for a couple of weeks, but I'm keen on giving the night ride a go.
  12. I've always been here... have just been quiet
  13. I'd like to join in for the fun, but I don't have a light and need to get one. What do you guys suggest?
  14. Phone the suppliers (Dragon) to find out where you can look at the woman specific Anthem. It is available in SA. I've seen 2 of them at Sabie Experience.
  15. This is the link to the Anthem W http://www.giant-bicycle.com/en-AU/bikes/women/499/22619/ Again, this is THE bike. (+- R17000)
  16. Giant has a woman specific Anthem with same specs as the Anthem 1. This is an awsome bike, both thumbs up!!
  17. The wife recently forced me to move my bikes out of the house to make space for the baby. Well....I managed to keep 2 bikes inside. The other 3 had to move on... to the garage.
  18. Buy this bike, it is awesome! I've got one (got it in January) and can tell only good things. Did the Epic this year and the bike did not skip a beat. Not one single problem, did not have to set ar change anything. I,ve got full XTR on my Cannondale hardtail and I am happy with it, but it's no better than the components on the anthem. I love this bike, and I'm glad I bought it. Both thumbs up!!! Only thig you should change on the bike is the RaceFace bottom bracket (Get an XTR). Race Face has probably got the worst bb's ever, but the rest of the bike is simply brilliant.
  19. Anyone read Robbie's diary? He doesn't seem to like David George much. 10.03.2007 07:57 Jersey changes hands again Yesterday was so hot the judges decided to cut the distance of the race and we did one lap less of the Fissershok circuit. The mercury was touching around 40degrees and lots of riders were battelign the heat. Most of the teams including ourselves ran out of water by the second last lap so it was a good thing to shorten the stage. The stage was won by one of my teams mates agian this time the russian Alex Efimkin who also took the jersey from Ryan. Ryan had a bit of a bad day as he spent a lot the day before being off the front the whole stage. We now occupy the first four places on the gc going into todays hill climb tt. Im pretty sure we will now win the tour as it will be really hard for anybody to take 2 minutes out of Alex on the climb. I saw Goerge was moaning in the papers yesterday (as he normally does) that the judges have stolen a victory from hom as he wanted to attack yesterday and ride us all off. I just laugh as till now he has been th eonewhohas been ridden off every day. What would suddenly change to make him win this tour aginst 6 strong riders of another team. Maybe he just cant count or is so forgetful he wakes up every morning not being able to remember what happend the day before. I wonder which it really is. Later all.. .
  20. I have done Sabie Experience on both Hutshinson Pythons and Scorpions, no problems.
  21. Thug, no worries for not stopping. I need the practice. How is the rolling resistance on the Nevegals, and who sells them in Joburg?

  23. I was thinking of the Crossmarks. I don't mind if it's a bit heavier, as long as it lasts me the race.
  24. Time is running out and I have to make a call on what tires to use for the race. I have always used Hutchinson's (both tubeless and non-tubeless)and have never had any problems, until now... I recently got a Giant Anthem and it came with Tubeless Hutchinson Piranha Race Lights. Obviously I didn't have a problem with the tires as I now the brand. I would like to let all of you know to stay away of rocks with these tires. On the first weekend of riding I destroyed the front tire on a rocky downhill (5mm cut on the tread). This past weekend I destroyed the other tire on a rocky downhill. Had a 14mm cut on the sidewall that I managed to fix with a piece of tire liner and a new inner tube. Approx. an hour later another sidewall cut on the other side of the same tire.... I will not be riding with these tires anymore. I am looking for a good all round UST tire for the Cape Epic... Any suggestions?
  25. Good work!! Have been riding mine for a month and can only tell good things about this bike.
