  1. The very reason I won't be able to make it.... everyone will point and laugh and it's just too much effort to remove my bar ends - even for a Legend
  2. Wow.... an opportunity to ride with a legend of this calibre doesn't come along often, clear your diaries folks
  3. jislaaaik maar you can like to be sharp hey?
  4. HEY!!! that ouk are famous....... he serviced my baaik once or twaaice
  5. Be sure not to foget that rase in tweebuffelsmeteenskootdoodgeskietfontein, youll get a great seeding, stand on the podium and be the town hero for a day... then you should also go and post on all of your friends FB walls about your accheevmunts as a pro cyclust also don't forget to ride the spruit the next day wiff your rase number still attached to your bike so that the local ouks can now how impotunt u can like to be
  6. A lot depends on the race. Are you going to be doing 94.7 or the August?
  7. My sister was riding with me about 6 months ago, she had to swerve out the way to avoid another cyclist that was riding on the wrong side of the road. I was ahead of her and fortunate enough to see the tjop in time, she wasn't so lucky. She removed the skin from her elbow all the way down her forearm and then some on her knees too. He said "sorry", helped her get up and then rode on. She still has pain 6 months later. DON'T DO IT...... IT'S DANGEROUS go with the flow
  8. Thanks dude..... already done ;-)
  9. Thanks for that smart@rse bob.... I'm not exactly going to get a response today since the schedule goes out on Mondays..
  10. Thanks gripen!!
  11. Does anyone know if Kyalami is open to cyclists today?
  12. More like dead without it
  13. Same problem. Buying a brand new strap fixed it Using Polar's advice I now rinse the strap after every ride and throw it in the washing machine once a week and I haven't had a problem again
  14. Now you're confused Bob, they're actually using Pomins
  15. I'm also a bit confused by the original post, but I guess he means Polar and not Garmin
  16. Nice initiative! I'll let you know when I've done a clean-up at home. Sure to find some stuff that can be put to good use
  17. Handlebar tape works well too.... you also get to choose your colour
  18. Thanks BB!!! they make us out of tuff stuff there... Jax!! those are fantastic pictures!! pity I only saw all of that in the dark
  19. Nice race report when you guys were finishing, we were arriving at check point 3!!! ;-)
  20. This was undoubtedly tht toughest thing I have ever done in my life. That climb out of checkpoint 3 seemed like it would never end. We finished though, in the rain, after sunrise, one team member short... but a finish nonetheless 2 down, 3 to go.....
  21. My clothes were wet with sweat just from climbing MAC. I put a dry vest and jersey on, long leggings, dry socks and full finger gloves. I was glad that I had otherwise I would've frozen on the descent.. The warm dry clothes also went a long way in that wind that we had after komdomo. I don't recall the last water crossing, but I'm sure that my socks got wet again after Bergplaas ?
  22. Yip, I had milko balm in our container at BergPlaas, as well as a change of clothing. It was sooooooo nice to put warm dry clothes on... and at that stage, I didn't really care about who saw me getting changed or not, I don't recall my level of modesty, but I probably asked my partner to hold something up to cover me... it's all a bit vague now
  23. I didn't see the "broek" question I reckon that there isn't a broek in the world that can prepare you for that kind of distance/time in the saddle.... it's going to burn the next day when you eventually hit the showers Having said that, I was very comfy in my Giordana's with PLENTY of Milko Balm
  24. Lollos, there was absolutely no cell phone reception until we got to the top of M.A.C., I know because last year I was trying to send my hubby a 'we're still alive' sms. But once you've reached Bergplaas, you may as well carry on anyway because the worst is over only 26 days and counting.........
  25. Ja... ruff tuff chicky from the Souff like me can handle most things hey... and I currently have an adequate layer of lard to cushion my butt on a 24 hour ride looking forward to the experience, whatever the conditions
