  1. This is only still upsetting to NotsobigBen, the rest of us don't mind
  2. I'm no pro, but I believe Prof Tim Noakes refers to this (in running) as "the plods". Perhaps you just need to cut yourself some slack, give yourself a couple of weeks off training, eat whatever you like, sleep, read, play, do whatever you feel like doing that doesn't involve a bike and enjoy it. When you've rested enough (physically and mentally) your mojo will return. It always does
  3. Only 21kms of running.. the ride in between the running was the highlight Good to have crazy friends that entertain my crazy ideas Only problem with the 1st December is that it's also the 24 hour at van Gaalen. SIR M will be supporting FORA, so it wouldn't be right to leave him out of a werewolf ride. Check out my link on my signature.....and while you're at it you can help one or two of our furry friends
  4. Sorry SIR... didn't mean to hijack your thread.. Enjoy the Spruit tonight, wish I could have joined.
  5. This year myself and 2 buddies set out at 3am on the 1st of January so that we could welcome the New Year in with a Breedts Nek sunrise. It was one of my best experiences EVER.
  6. Camping facilities are available We can even provide a tent if you don't already have one
  7. Wait until I arrange another Breedts night ride
  8. Let's face it, walking down a 100m stretch of flat road is going to be easier than walking up a 100m hill. It stands to reason that participants would want to know how much vertical ascent there will be. Cape Epic riders should be at a stage in their cycling where they understand ascent. If not, they're possibly biting off a little more than they can chew. I haven't done the Epic and I don't follow their marketing strategy, but I'm quite sure the ascent isn't advertised to earn the participants bragging rights. They earn those rights just by participating, regardless. Not sure why the OP is so bitter and twisted about this point. I personally want to know how much ascent is in an event just so I know how to prepare for it. Each to his/her own, I guess
  9. The thing is... she was busy riding TransBaviaans, so an adjustment would have been difficult. Her partner also decided that this was a good means of keeping her 'in check'..... so whenever he rode close enough, her HR went up trying to ride away from him
  10. well now that's comforting errmmm... I don't think I'll be passing anyone, but if I do see you I'll definitely say hi!

I seem to have got a P seeding despite giving up my entry in a substitution.... the substitute also got a seeding in G (I think)
  12. If only!! so close and yet so far Afraid I'm flying out on Friday and back to Joburg on Sunday after stage 2..... with hindsight, I should probably have planned a little detour oh well... next year I'll have to do things differently
  13. Apparently we only have 2 more weekends left to train. Am I the only one that's a little nervous?
  14. does anyone perhaps have a group picture of Saturday's ride? The people at FORA have asked for a bit of detail as well as a pic if we have? Please? :-)
  15. Oh and Thug.... was great catching up with you again! let's not let 3 years pass before the next meeting!
  16. Mons, when you've had some time to recover from your ordeal, please post some pics :-)
  17. Oh, and just by the way.... the group this morning managed to raise R700 towards FORA's building project!! Your generosity is overwhelming! thank you, thank you, thank you!!! I have no doubt they'll put it to good use
  18. You're right Wayne.. I was thoroughly enjoying the company. On my way back I was wondering if everyone was going to maintain their sense of humour for the whole ride..... (you know.... knowing what was in store ) I will definitely try to hook up with you guys again on another one of your outings
  19. It was super cool meeting all of you guys and girls! I was really sorry that I couldn't do the whole ride. I hope my family treated you well on your return Until next time
  20. If it's a 6h30 start, I might be able to join you guys, but just for a bit. I'll have to turn around at about 7h45 wherever we happen to be.... need to be back in Joburg early for my child's dance competition
  21. One of the ladies that did the last ride approached me and said that the GPS co-ords were "spot on"......... now I know very little about GPS (I'm still from the mapbook era), so not sure why it would be spot on for some and not others?
  22. The reason I did that was to get everyone from the N1 onto Hendrik Potgieter, so if you live in Fourways (for example) and were taking the N1, you'd have to first head South to get off at 14th.... if that makes any sense. Obviously there are loads of other ways to get there..... if you know the area
  23. eerrrmmm SIR... I couldn't help but notice that there are some peeps that said they'd be there who aren't included on your list (yet) ;-)
