  1. I put a KCNC bottom bracket on my S-Works Epic. You can put any bb on as long as it is English thread. The issue becomes one of weight weenie or durability.
  2. You can go Tubeless with just about any rim. 1). If your rim has spoke holes through the rim then you must do a tubeless conversion, using Stans, etc, this kit will give you rim tape and sealant. The rim tape covers the spoke holes in the rim and makes a tight seal with the tyre, th tyres can be tubeless or not. 2). If you have UST or tubeless rims, ie. no spoke holes through the rim then you just need a tubeless tyre and sealant to go tubeless. You can also use non tubeless tyres here with sealent (cheaper option). Simple really.
  3. I was riding a 11 - 32 and upgraded my bike, the lbs only had an 11 - 34 so I tried it. I figured I would not enjoy it but it does make a difference on those really steep climbs, your granny gar becomes a bit easier. I have Sram XO and will only use Sram cassettes.
  4. Conti Mountain Kings, Specialized The Captain, Maxxis Monorail. Take your pick.
  5. I have the Fulcrum 3's, they are a great wheelset, I have had no hassles at all, they roll very well and are stiff and bomb proof, I use them for training and racing. I bought them last year at a great price new and have not looked back. So much so I bought the Fulcrum Red Metal 3's for my MTB, also a great wheel also bomb proof and roll well. You can't go wrong with the Fulcrum choice.
  6. I have heard, and I don't know how true this is I am no scientist, that Creatine in certain doses can be carcinogenic.
  7. Very hot bike! Just add pedals and you will be legal!
  8. Eggbeater Sl for sure! I just bought my second pair for my new bike, they are bombproof. You can clip and out in in any conditions, mud especially.
  9. Rennies does not work, I ate 12 in a race and still cramped. Train at the intensity you want to race at, and do the base miles. You can't get around those fundamentals. I tried all the diet related stuff last season and still cramped, nothing worked. I was real strong from MTB races but did not have the base miles (aerobic fitness) so after 90k at a very high intensity (road races) staying in the B bunch on most races would cramp no matter what I did. This season I did the base miles and can feel a big difference in my aerobic endurance already. Now comes the power training and intensity stuff.

Yup' date=' the 8 outbound spokes on the right hand side of that wheel will give you trouble. Not if, but when. Does that wheel have a large flange hub of sorts? [/quote']See pic below hub is Shimano Deore FH-M525-S: Spoke Holes 36/32 holes - Spoke Hole Circle 61mm - Center to Flange Right 21.75mm Left 35.35mm

I also got WTB Speedisc rims, came standard on my GT Avalanche 0.5 with Shimano M525 hubs. My back wheel also goes out of true every now and again (not the front though). The first time I noticed I was wondering what the creaking/shuffling sound was in my back wheel and noticed a broken spoke, so I replaced it with one the same size diameter and length or close as I could get at my lbs they measured it with a vernier, then trued it as best I could. I notice 6 months later I have broken another spoke and the wheel is out of true again. The spokes break at the start of the shaft of the spoke where it comes out of the nipple. Why would this be happening, I weigh 82kg.

  18. Merida has much better stickers!!! Sorry, the Merida just does not have the same class.... It looks like the cousin from Benoni with the Mullett!

  22. I went to the Joe friel training bible launch at cyclelab. He was saying that until Power Meters came along there was no accurate way of quantifying how fit you are. A power meter allows you to do this. It will tell you how much power you can output over a specific course or time frame. One of Lance Armstrongs books talked about LA doing a certain climb in France in training and until he could get to a magic number of Watts/kg he knew he could win the Tour because no one else had the same numbers. (something like that it has been a while since I read it) Joe Friel also mentioned that there are power meters for runners and swimmers coming soon.
  23. Cycleops Fluid2 - it will make you strong.
  24. Also my favourite trail in SA. Very beautiful. The day I rode it I remember starting to smell the sea through the forest as you descended and when you see the view over the sea it is amazing. Will definitely ride it again next time I am in the area.
