  1. What does the term Tech mean for you?
  2. No Dude, I just don't appreciate how this kid is getting picked on. He is doing something, and I for one am interested in the results. And I don't appreciate those who try f-all always having a chirp. When last did you post an innovation of yours to this forum?
  3. I need to get a road bike for the following reasons: - Ride occasionally with the roadies in family? - Get my speed on an MTB up by doing long boring high cadence rides. - Ride about 4 100km races a year including 94.7. So far the bike that I think seems to be the best bet is: TYPE Road Race Bikes BRAND SCHWINN MODEL Fastback PRICE R5,995.00 EXTRAS FRAME MATERIAL Schwinn Super Butted 'N'Litened' Gold Label TIG Welded Aluminum With Schwinn Race Geometry, IS Stand FORK/SUSPENSION Schwinn Black Label Carbon Comp Carbon Fiber Blades W/ 1 1/8" Cr-mo Steerer & Forged Dropouts. WHEELSET Alex R500 Semi Aero 28* Ft/32* Rr GROUPSET Shimano Tiagra, 9 Speed Any other suggestions as I see Merida, Silverback and even Felt have bikes in my price range?
  4. I got mine from Linden Cycles who ordered it for me. It was serve well worth mentioning as I walked into the shop at 10 or 11on a Monday morning and they had the part for me before the end of that day as I needed to finish the light before a race on the Wednesday.
  5. I think the first one I got was about R 50.00, however the last one was a lot less, +- R 30 to R 40. I keep forgetting to take pic's of my light. However, take a look at the mount on this light, this is the product: http://www.amazon.com/Topeak-MoonShine-HID-Bicycle-Light/dp/B000FICAFA http://www.mtbr.com/reviews/Lights/product_124910.shtml The mount is available from Topeak as a separate item.
  6. Topeak does one, it is either for their Moonshine or Moonlight (something like that). It isn't in the catalog. My LBS put me in direct contact with the rep to get one.

  8. Which charger have you got and where did you buy it? I have a Robbe Infinity II that has had a software upgrade to take Lipo Li-ion cells. However if I was to buy a charger now and didn't care what it cost I'd buy a Schulze Chameleon, http://www.schulze-elektronik-gmbh.de/index_uk.htm There is an importer in PE, let PM me if you want his details. If you would prefer to spend a lot less, my wife might still have stock of a usefull little charger for about R 600.00 (I think). It can also charge / discharge up to 10 cells. I think max discharge is only 500mah. It can cycle cells, but only records the last action.
  9. My set-up is the same as Willies, and on a 2 hour ride I use less than half of the available capacity in the cells. Therefore I estimate you should be able to get 4 to 5 hours light. I have a fairly smart charger that allows me to cycle batteries and record charge / discharge peaks etc.

  11. Hi Andrew I'm not wanting to bash Cycle Labs, nor do I want to hi-jack this thread, however I do think you should be aware of my recent experience. I recently bought 2 entry level Trek road bikes for my wife and son. At the time I specified that the one for my son needs to be converted to U16 grearing. I was told that they would order the appropriate cassette and that I could have the bike converted at it's first service. When the time came for the first service, I asked for the conversion to be done. When I collected the Shaun told me he had done the best he could with the gearing and that it "should" pass. Low and behold at that weekends CGC champs the bike did not "roll-in". According to Shaun, he changed the large chain ring from a 52 to a 42 as he could not get 8 speed cassettes from Shimano. However to correctly achieve the correct gearing he needed to also change the cassette from 11 to 13, which he hadn't. I had no problem ordering this part from another bike shop. What is sad about this is the Cycle Lab workshops are awesome, however the service seems very unprofessional. Cheers Mark
  12. Thanks, you have saved me a fair amount of time and money.
  13. For those who are Jhb based, I got my 2500mah Sanyo's for R 25.00 per cell from a small battery supplier called SJ Andrews in Marlboro.
