any idea where I can get a harness similar to this? a "hands free" lead for lack of a better description
I see you still haven't conquered that downhill speed fear thing you have
(I know I am going to pay for this comment come DC time)
Pfft, at least I rode down all the hills this year.
Top speeds on the gravel down hills? I clocked 62km/hr but im sure there were some bigger units than me that must have gone faster
On gravel 41.51kph.
Anyone looking to win an entry - http://www.bicycling.co.za/news/trans-karoo-discount-offer/
Thanks DisyLizzy - I think this makes it more of a challenge, the big winners both being mountain bikers. And it's good to see new faces on the board as well.
(Didn't help my cause at all, but closed the gap to CVANC a little)
Only 35hrs training you need to do, you can do it!
I descend like a deamon - so popped off the front there at Westlake on both ends, Boyes drive I positioned myself near the front, led at the corner at Kalk Bay and on my solo descent of Ou Kaaps, hit 81.8Km/h with a cadence of 133rpm at some point. I hate descending in bunches just for the slight chance that something goes pear shape and I end up becoming one with someone else's bicycle.
LOL! I'll have to get up at some crazy hour to ride before work. Live in Wellington and work in Gordon's Bay. Up at 5:30 to leave at 6:30 and only get back home around 6;15.
Tried convincing the boss to build in a shower at work so that I can cycle to and/or from work but that didn't work out - should try again I think.
Riding league (elites) in Spring so definitely need to get some quality mileage in before then.
My max speed for the ride 69.2kph, in fact I don't think I've ever been over 70kph in my life, considering that image how fast I was going on the flats
Seeing you riding leugue next season, well - you are going to be in for a nasty suprise, especially on the climbs!
I think that with all the non-competitors on the road, guys were getting away too easily without being spotted....... two guys got away (but got caught again) just after the Cape Point entrance. It happened as we were passing some randoms and the guys who were in front at that point showed no interest in chasing them down. As we turned towards Scarborough, a few of us put in a solid effort to catch them which we did by the time we hit misty cliffs.
Well done man. You must have had a great race. Wish I had as much time as you do to go riding
Thanks, breaking away is the only way I would ever make it in that funride, my descending skills is well non existant. Leading up to the break away I was already dropped on the first descend at the big intersection next to the golf course, then dropped again on the first descend of Boyes Drive then again on the 2nd descend, and offcourse again on the very steep section going down - I only caught up with the bunch just before entering Fish Hoek.
You don't have time to go ride before work?
I thought we caught you going into Simons Town?! I was the 'big' guy in the Green and black /dark blue William's Bike shop jersey. Pearl red, white and carbon CIOCC.
Saw you go off, The guy in Complete Cyclist kit gave chase and I followed past him to, what I though, was your wheel.......
No, I wasn't caught. I was suprised that no one was behind me since I moved off the front of the bunch very slowly and kept it slow for a few more meters before increasing the pace.
Wait - were you the dude who, when I said those deep sections are no use in the bunch and that you should be off the front, replied that you are unfit? ........ and then proceeded later to sprint up Slangkop like a deamon...
Just trying to put a name to a face - I assume you are the guy leading the Endomondo challenge.
No - we've never talked before. I broke away on the section between Fish Hoek and Simon's town. I ride with one Zipp wheel at the back (I've never been able to afford the front). I am the one leading the Endomondo road challenge currently.
Very sneaky indeed. It was rather pedestrian when we chatted, and you were complaining about not being fast or strong. Pfft! 40kms off the front on your own just proves you wrong!
60km's but honestly, nowhere as strong as I used to be.
Ok Mr Houdini Ninja CVANC - how, where, and when did you ride off the front of A? I thought Warren's mad dash 3kms from the end was good enough, even though he was caught on the line. did you use your invisibility cloak and pull a fast on over all of us?
About 2 mins after we chatted I slowly broke off the front, don't believe anyone was interested to persuit so I just kept going.
Any ideas who the gentleman photographer was at the top of OKW?
They might have started the numbering at 100...... I am 114.
Nope, I'm 92
Still waiting for a refund.
