  1. http://cyclefactory.co.za/index.php/bikes/27-5-mtb/giant-trance-275-4-detail Pic from Cycle Factory site, advertised at R18500 less R1000.00 on the sale
  2. Decided instead to fit a steel hose clamp, and donated it to my gardener who has to walk about 8km from where he stays to come and do my garden, he is now a very happy chappie
  3. Cycle factory R17490.00
  4. Will do , should get it later in the week after they finish prepping it. Not going to put it on the couch though, wife already not too happy with me
  5. Thanks Sampras, good idea with the steel ring, Glad to get a decent reponse from the first two responses thought I had posted in the Friday Funnies by mistake! But went out this morning and bought a new bike anyway, decided to try the 650B club Gaint Trans 4.
  6. Is this Repairable? Anybody in Cape Town that can do decent alu welding??
  7. After doing approx 5000km with this bike many of them fast downhills, a few months ago while going down Vissershok, as I reached 73km/hr the bike developed a severe front wheel wobble. This was so bad that I was all over the road, fortunately no other traffic around. Managed to get it under control by clamping the top tube after seeing life flash before my eyes! Very strong South East wind at the time, did not hit any bumps or potholes, it just started this scary wobble. This has spoiled my experience riding this bike, and unfortunately I love the fast downhills! Have checked over everything, wheels, tyres bearings, headset, frame, forks, and found nothing to give any clue why this happened. However everytime i go down a hill now very nervous and worried that the incident will repeat itself, this spoils my fun!!!!!! Any of you technical minded Hubbers got any ideas?
  8. Went from MI to MH, Road went from P down to S. Can understand if your seeding gets pushed down if you don't do races, as guys doing races will be moving up pushing the non-racers down but then the MTB one makes no sense since it is the MTB season. Has anybody received thier new numbers from the July registration yet?
  9. I'm too old and unfit to keep up with the top seeds, but how can a seeding drop from P down to S in one month, and at the same time the MTB seeding go up? Makes no sense to me!!
  10. I give up with the PPA seedings. Have not done any races since the Agus, but Road seeding went up after the Argus, and has now come down. Also done no MTB races, but MTB seeding has gone up! If seeding is going to change every month they are going to make a fortune out of selling new numbers!!!!!!!!
  11. Bump Any bright ideas on my chain experience. Have now bought a SRam chain and fitted it Sunday, works perfectly, no "skipping" on any of the gears.
  12. Had an interesting issue with a chain a few weeks ago on the road bike, 9 speed. Had a new 9 speed chain that had been lying around for about two years, bought on a special, and decided to fit it although the old chain ws not really that worn. (Yes, I was bored!) Fitted the chain and went off the Saturday for the club ride only to find a severe case of chain slip. First suspected a sticky link, no sticky link. Finally found that the slip was only occuring on one cog the 14 tooth. Swopped this out for a new 14 tooth, same problem! Tried a 13 tooth, same problem! Laid the old and new chains side by side, and found that the new chain had a completely different pitch, this was over a section of about four links. Put the old chain back, problem solved. Anybody ever had a similar experience? Is there a difference in pitch between say an eight speed chain vs a nine speed? Don't think so, since the tooth spacing on the gears is identical?? (Thought that maybe it was a packing/labelling problem) Shimano chain by the way.
  13. You will have to collect at the foreign parcels counter of the post office. You have to produce ID and invoice plus proof of payment. Duties payable in cash only!!
  14. I have been using Sports Tracker, and decided to purchase the bluetooth belt from them, cost Euro 63.00. Delivery from Finland took about 10 days. SA Customs then nailed me for a further R90.00 import duty. Works well, and very accurate compared to a normal heart rate monitor, data storage on the Sporttracker site is excellent, and can be imported into Google Earth as well. Only disadvantage is you must have a Nokia with GPS, and battery life is not too great on the 6210 Navigator that I have it only lasts about three hours!! Due for an upgrade in March, will have to look for longer battery life.
  15. Also agree with BigH, navigation on this new site is painful. Also miss the "hover"function. No way to pick a time period to look at all posts i.e. Last "x" hrs, yesterday and so on. Also now spending less time on the Hub
  16. Having no problems with Firefox 3.6 or IE8, A vast improvement in speed. The only thing I miss about the old Hub was the ability to ask for a time period, and quickly scroll through all the topics. Is this facility still available Admin??
  17. This years photos were the worst I've ever seen, looked like a bunch of amateurs with cheap cameras. I will definitely be sending them back if they arrive.
  18. Thanks for the response Admin, I generally only get time to look at the Hub at about 1900hrs in the evening, don't know if that is a high load time, but glad to hear that you will be improving matters. Been finding it rather frustrating.
  19. I'm with Windbreaker on this one, also think it's a server issue. Know about the cable problem, but don't have this problem on any other sites except the Hub. Only started after the changeover of servers. ADMIN - any comments????
  20. Why is it that pages load so slowly lately? This seems to have started since the change to the new server. Normally use Firefox, but tried Explorer 8 as well, still just as bad.
  21. Two years!!!!!!!!!!! Is that the price of a life? 10 yrs suspended licence is even more useless, what's the bet he will be back on the road after his service.
  22. Where in the Northern Suburbs? I recommend City Cycling Club, who ride from Edgemead, great bunch and cater for the beginner. Website: http://www.citycyclingclub.org/ joevan2010-03-03 12:54:29
  23. You don't say what area you are in, but I would recommend you try a genuine bike dealer. This time of the year plenty bargains around as they try to clear stock. You will get better back up service, and if you get in to cycling seriously it pays to get a relationship going with a good LBS
