I'll be very surprised if he's not in a McHonda. My second guess will be sabbatical.

Well I would certainly never compare Prost and Vettel, other than to say what we know objectively: The one competed in an era where the car gave precious little help to the driver (his '93 Williams excluded), and beat (usually) or matched all his team mates (who happened to be multiple world champs and some of the best drivers to have never won world champs). Other than the Macca Honda in 88 and 89, and the Williams in 93 he did not have the best car on the grid and won in-spite of this. He certainly in all this time, in some pretty average cars with exceptional teammates, never had a single season where he could not get to grips with a car and was dominated by a team mate... Vettel on the other hand, showed he can dominate in the best car on the grid with a mediocre team mate. We also know that in the second best car this year, for whatever reason, he has made it look like a mid field car at best. That is all we know for know for now - as you say time will tell us a fuller story. I'll save the Senna Prost debate for another day! Need to shore up my reserves before I attempt that! (yes was always and still am a Prost fan, though I believe Senna did indeed have a rare gift).

Prost's record vs team mates, other than his first year in F1, only once did his team mate score more points in a season and that was Lauda by half a point (that half due to Prost's win at Monaco being awarded half points as was stopped early due to rain). Note that the year he lost out to Senna, he only did so because the scoring system at the time included only the 11 best results (and Senna had 1 more race win that year than Prost)... Year Prost's points[1] Team-mates' points[1] Team-mate 1980 5 6 John Watson 1981 43 11 René Arnoux 1982 34 28 René Arnoux 1983 57 22 Eddie Cheever 1984 71.5 72 Niki Lauda 1985 73 (76) 14 Niki Lauda 1986 72 (74) 22 Keke Rosberg 1987 46 30 Stefan Johansson 1988 87 (105) 90 (94) Ayrton Senna 1989 76 (81) 60 Ayrton Senna 1990 71 (73) 37 Nigel Mansell 1991 34 21 Jean Alesi 1993 99 69 Damon Hill

Wow. Surely you are not serious!? Example? Compared to his teammates in the same car? I would like to understand the basis for such a weird consensus!!

Nope, 4 time world champ for the first time only has the second best car on the grid, and for the first time has a team mate who can step up and compete for a world championship himself. Or from race one Red Bull have been trying to make him look bad. hmmmmm....

As soon as Sutil crashed I shouted out loud "safety car". Its not rocket science that with rain coming down harder and cars on inters, seeing one car aquaplane off on a corner, the odds are high that others will follow in the same spot. With the tractor, marshals and Sutil all in harms way, the safety car in such a case is a no brainer - and frankly I think leaving the cars to race was criminally reckless - as such an incident was foreseeable. This is the second time this year such reckless inaction has been seen. The first was when marshals were on the track while cars continued at race speed. That time they got lucky. Time for Charlie to retire.

Mercs are quick but their reliability is actually piss. Really hope that both cars have no more issues over the last 5 races so we have a clean fight. At the moment it seems most likely that reliability could have the last say.

good move I think - like in tennis there is no coaching during the game.

Its not that complicated - Occam's razor applies here. As a driver you look as good as your team mate makes you look. There were (very rare) occasions when Webber hit the sweet spot and he made Vettel look quite ordinary. For the most part though, Webber was delivering VERY mediocre performances in a car way better than anything else on the grid. This (the car + Webber) made Vettel seem better than he was. Add to that Riciardo is flippin good and maybe more motivated than Vettel (who isn't used to having to drive a car that is second tier, doesn't like the engines in the new formula bla bla).

your selective memory is too funny.
  20. So just to close this out, ASG made a plan for me and kindly stripped the required free wheel body off a new wheel as they had no stock in the country so all sorted now. And re above speculation, there is a slight difference in width for Shimano 10 vs 11. I gather the 9 to 10's didn't have this issue as the 10sp's we actually narrower than the 9sp - so a spacer was just required. The jump to 11 is a mm or so wider so a different body is required for most wheels. Mavic I believe are the one exception and theirs are compatible with no new hub

Agree on the double points part must say. And yes, 2007 he could and maybe should have won. But for 1 error in his rookie season that is... Would be far more accurate to say Alonso SHOULD have won that year...
  22. I think the difference here is Contador had an argument of food contamination, whereas Daryl was able to produce supporting evidence corroborated by experts. But yes, UCI could still appeal.
  23. I should add, LBS says it is possible to get a different Fulcrum freewheel hub body, but ASG don't have stock and takes 4 weeks and R1500 to order... Would anyone local have or is there another solution?
